Incredible.Nice job on the primary logo too. I don't really dig that logo, and think it should be changed, but you did a nice job updating it. Maybe I'm too used to the old colors, but it feels like just a maroon and grey sweater. That said, the alternate is amazing. jchockey Posted June 23, 2009 Share Posted June 23, 2009 Love your stuff, but I gotta say, this one's my least favourite. I love the new colours, but the logo seems a little off without the oval. Obviously that's a personal choice but it feels as though without the oval it seems heavy on the right-side. Most of what's going on with the logo is on the right with the flowing puck/avalanche, and it just seems sort of off-balance. I like the striping but perhaps it's the old conservative in me, but I've always felt their distinct shoulder yokes made them stand out from all the other teams. I think it might look cool to extend those diagonal lines from the arms onto the torso instead of what you currently have. Not really a fan of the Yetti logo or the lack of the oval. I agree that the A looks unbalanced without it. I also miss the foot logo. Great effort, like the others I think all your stuff is good. Nice work with the Carolina template as well. I like the Civil War reference, and it somehow sounds like a 'hockey' name to me (it's je ne sais quois, I know). I really like both the primary logo and the cap alternate logo. Things I really don't like: the thin, weak-looking copperplate-esque type and the red pants. I know the Rangers get away with red pants, but it's always looked "off" to me on the Jackets, and the uniform is especially top-heavy when the red pants are paired with the navy jersey. So I kept the logos intact, but gave the Blue Jackets a new typeface and wordmark, and I shifted the focus of their color scheme to more blue and silver.The uniforms are pretty simple and fairly traditional. The alternate, however, is a bit different. It's based off an old design I did, using the red/white/red/white/red striping from the Ohio flag, but here I dropped the white and left three red stripes, with stars on the waist. Don't be afraid to try red though.I never intended to give them one of those faux-retro uniforms, though I can see how it might look that way. I think what's causing that is the Canadiens-esque chest stripe, along with the oval/typographic logo (which is already their secondary, so it was the natural choice to use). It really just started as a specific striping pattern, and evolved into what you see. I had some ideas for a red alternate jersey, but I nixed them. I'll probably go back and try a few sketches and see how they go over, because I actually think a red jersey with blue pants and helmet could look really good... I just wasn't sure I wanted to do that red jersey combo for the Blue Jackets.Thanks for the feedback everyone; I'll try to have an update soon. A team called the Blue Jackets probably should have a pretty simple design. I agree that the alt looks like a crappy retro design. The home and road striping patterns are nice and clean and I like the use of silver. But it's the alternate that I like the most. Really creative stuff, and it's a nice contrast to the other two.
