Cujo Posted November 23, 2005 Share Posted November 23, 2005 What I did here was basically take the uniforms from the 49ers glory days and brought them up to date with the colors of today. I took out all traces of black while also eliminating the oval in the primary logo. I added red pants for their away uniforms and threw in a gold alternate with a drop shadow on the digits, similar to their '94 throwbacks. C&C appriciated. Thanks. I don't like ditching the oval. It is too much a part of the 49ers' identity to discard.Otherwise, very nice. Do you have any information as to whether the game will be on non-local TV (Fox College Sports, CSTV, etc.?). I was able to catch last year's Delaware playoff game because a local Comcast channel picked up the CSTV feed. Now I have entered the 21st Century and have digital cable, so I have more options, but I haven't been able to find anything.As for the game, the QB is a senior who has received a fair amount of playing time the past two years, but from watching the Lehigh game you could tell why he was the backup. He ran the ball very well during one drive, but I have no idea where his running game was the rest of the day.Lafayette's calling card has been defense all season (something like 15 ppg), but I know they have a tall challenge. Their linebackers are especially good -- one Buchanan finalist/watchlister, and he wasn't the best linebacker against Lehigh. I think it should be a good game, because they surprised a lot of people by taking Delaware to the wire before losing last year. We'll see. WSU151 Posted November 23, 2005 Share Posted November 23, 2005 Curty,I like the the concept...especially the gold pants...I liked the old style with the red-white-red, so naturally, these look great. The jersey with the old letter font on the back looks good. And to top it off, I like the simplicity of the "old" wordmark - no drop shadow like it originally had. Maybe somehow put the SF on the sleeves of the alternate, just kind of a shout out to the current jersey style. The helmet looks good, and I think would be a great looking helmet in real life, but to echo someone's comments, I think the SF sort of looks naked without the oval.Nice work sir. That was when our QB lost a fumble and yours followed it with the TD pass for the final margin. It sounds like turnovers and missed opportunities were eventually the difference. All in all, Lafayette had a good season. Next year, I want to WIN a playoff game instead of just getting in and putting up a good fight on the road against some large, scholarship-giving A-10/SoCon school. The font on the players' names is just awesome.But here's some things are wrong with it:1. Keep the oval. Or Joe Montana and/or Bill Walsh will hunt you down and kill you.2. The Niners wear gold pants. Period. Using the ones they have now, those gold pants look well enough on the road.3. It's OK to have a little black, especially on the oval.In the 70s and 80s the Niners had a black stripe outlining the oval on the helmets, and one outlining the helmet stripe.4. Metallic gold alts??
