Sproullie03 Posted May 19, 2007 Share Posted May 19, 2007 Did this happen to anyone else here in pittsburgh after the 3rd period of the East Finals game 5 they went straight to an hour and a half of horse racing pregame and just came back to say that the Sens won. At some point in that 90 minute hockeyless period, did you consider changing channels? Even if you don't have a remote, you can march over to the ol' TV console and fiddle with the dials, right? Or did you really just sit there and NOT try to find the game?I mean, feel free to gripe, but they did tell you where to find the OT. And if you didn't bother to scan the channels, or the TV Guide online service, then not finding the game's on you. But if you really believe that NBC shafted you (and all the other hockey fans not paying attention at the time the announcement was made to switch channels) and should NOT have changed to one of the 3 annual horse races that still matters to people from coast-to-coast in the name of appeasing the handful of hockey fans still faithful to the game... then I can't help you. NBC gets millions of dollars to broadcast a 2-minute race and the pomp and circumstance that accompany it. NBC gets peanuts to show hockey to a few fans not still pissed off about the cancelled season. People who don't like horse racing watch the Triple Crown races. Only the die-hards watch a hockey game, especially one pitting a small Northeastern market against a foreign country's capital city's team. Not a great deal by any means, but it tops not getting paid by a cable TV company and no air time on basic TV.The NHL had to take Versus' offer. I had that channel last year and it was number 68. Then I moved and it's a satellite channel, up in the 100s. I don't want to buy satellite to watch my team playing in the Stanley Cup.
