UC-Irvine Football

The reason I sped up my Fullerton concept and posted it is because of their success in the College World Series, and since UC-Irvine is the other CWS team not to have football (and they knocked out Fullerton), they're the logical next team for the project.

The UC-Irvine Anteaters:

-The main problem with this one was to avoid any confusion with Cal-Berkeley. Very similar colors made it tough, but it's the reason I slapped "Irvine" Texas-style right across the front. Also a white helmet logo and white rather than yellow numbers helped distance Irvine from Berkeley.

-The side trim was borrowed from the basketball jerseys and altered slightly. I think it works, but I'd like your opinion as well.

-No alternates, I didn't want to do a yellow one because Cal-Berkeley does, and Irvine has never had football so a throwback isn't particularly feasible.

That's about it...open to C&C...thanks!

Back from my hiatus in the west TX-New Mexico desert...

...first of all, I LOVE the "Anteaters" moniker. That logo is also a nice little piece of artwork.

Now, as for the uniforms, nice, simple, clean. And, if no one else picks up on it, I do like how the side "panels" of this uniform sorta mimic the snout of the anteater. That's a good subtle way to tie in the animal--or at least a feature of it--into the uniform.

Nice.

What's there to say? You nailed it. No need to say anything.

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

I absolutely love these! Very creative and very, very nice job. I don't like their baseball uniforms because they have no yellow in them, that bugged the hell out of me every time I watched them this week. I still rooted for them non the less. Again great work!

There are a coupla you could do to further differentiate between Cal and Irvine:

Yellow/Grey (with blue accents)

Blue/Grey (with yellow)

Blue/Yellow (with grey)

That being said, I like this. It's got a modern classiness to it. I'd still like to see a little grey since the anteater is all-grey.

I like it. I think the shoulders on the away should be blue. The blue of the side panel isn't continued to the extent of the yellow boundaries, and it's a little awkward. That change would make it look a little more unified, but otherwise, very nice work.

it needs to say "eaters"

not "anteaters" like the baseball jerseys

and go blue on blue with white outline like the baseball jerseys

and put the anteater on the helmet instead of the letters

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

I like the idea of making the sleeves blue. Changed that.

Played around with the use of gray trim, but couldn't get anything to look how I wanted. Plus, none of their other uniforms use gray, so I left it out. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Nowhere on the jerseys does it say "Anteaters"...that's just what I put there instead of a player's name. Unless the players name is actually "Anteaters." That would be amazing. And I'm going to have to say "no" to going blue on blue. You can get away with it in baseball, where having a uniform number really is not all that important. But the uniform number in football is the most important element of design, because referees, coaches, and fans need to see it. Number designs have had to be changed (1996 49ers and 1997 Jaguars) because they were apparently not legible enough.

Again, thanks to everyone for the comments and suggestions.

Ok so this concept is good, but it loses major points by not having that awesome Anteater logo anywhere on the uni. You shold put the eater on the sleeve and the numbers on the shoulders.
