worcat
i've been following this topic closely. i like alot of your work, you're very talented. however, it seems like some of your concepts are either grandslams, or just decent designs. I'm not knocking your work, but I think there's more that you can do with the Rangers and Coyotes for example. The color choices for Phoenix, the gold with Pittsburgh, and the orange with Edmonton bother me a little. What if you went with more of a modern color of what they use now? I'd like to see the Rangers "Home" powder blue jersey rendered in the dark navy they sported with the Lady Liberty logo. I think that'd look sharp. A modern take on the traditional design. I really enjoy what you did with the Penguins third jersey, it's an entire different approach, much like the Flyers design also. You're thinking outside of the box and I like that. Your not affraid to step away from the traditional logos and go with something different - but not losing a teams identity. I love the Devils logo, it can't get any more perfect than that... I'm patiently waiting for the Blues concept. Cannot wait, it's like christmas Bleeding Blue since 1986
OpaqueChicken
I like what you did on the jerseys for the sharks but I feel that on the primary logo that the teal and silver should be swapped so it flows better. At first I didn't like the font that much but now its growing on me and I love it. I AM SCORE!
elliott
Awesome series. I'm not going to go back and comment on every one, but I have been following every concept, like the guy above me, and all are very good and you consistently have wonderful renderings of logos, even if they are only tweaks, but logos like the Coyotes and Penguins and Islanders are all top notch. One suggestion is to make sure that you are not making teams with simliar color schemes on a jersey also have a similar template, the instance I'm seeing this is on black thirds, look back at your Flyers, Penguins, and Sharks designs, all are nice designs but look very simlilar, also I feel like one or two of your earlier third designs looks a little like these, I just can't remember which. It is hard to come up with so many new templates though, especially when you are doing home/away AND alternate. Regardless, one of the best series/threads I've ever seen here, top 5, and I'm not over-exaggerating in the slightest.EDIT: I looked back through every concept, well worth the time , the other similar third templates I saw were Atlanta, Calgary, and Florida, that is all. John Skills Booth
The similarity wasn't intentional, but the effect was used on both logos for a reason. For the Oilers, I wanted a sleek, metallic, machine look; for the Isles, a wave effect. It's unfortunate that they did end up so similar, but as Dan said, I'm churning out 30 teams in a short period of time. If I had known how the Isles were going to turn out, I probably would have made the Oilers a bit more different. Thanks for the response.I wasnt trying to be a jerk about it, I'm trying to follow your thought processes on these. As I said before, I'm a fan of the work you've done so far.
jchockey
I am loving the design on the alternate, although the logo doesn't blow me away because the fin still feels like a shoulder logo to me. I'm also thinking that it might look even sharper without the 'San Jose' script below the collar but said you like it. The design is very streamlined/wavy and shark-like. I like it. I like how you reverted back to the 90s-00s colours and dropped the orange. While the shark does look more realistic in grey, I wonder if the orange eye really distracts the flow of the logo. It's a very streamlined logo, so when I see grey I see the shark from the nose and fade into black towards the dorsal fin, and when I see orange I follow the logo horizontally with the broken stick. The orange eye just seems to disrupt everything. Maybe change it grey, white, or teal?Minor gripe, but I imagine the numbers would be hard to read from afar. I almost mistook 19 for 18. dgnmrwrw
Thanks for the feedback on the Sharks, it went over about like I expected. I admit the number font is a bit problematic. I actually lowered the "point" on the 9 to make it a bit less of a problem, and I think it's now as low as it can go. I also think that the 9/8/6 numerals would be the most difficult to distinguish, but it shouldn't be too big of a deal, I hope...I'll wait for a bit for (hopefully) some more feedback on the Sharks, then I'll post the next team, either this evening or tomorrow afternoon, because the computer's getting packed up tomorrow night for the Monday move. Only 5 teams remain, and the season's right around the corner. HURRICANES | PANTHERS | WHITE SOX | WOLFPACK
Still MIGHTY
I really love this Sharks concept. Very sharp in all aspects. The one gripe I have is while I know you are tryng to infuse the silver/gray from the designs, the way it's used on the actual shark just kinda jumps out at me. The majority of the shark is jet black but then from the extreme dark shadows you jump into a very contrasting gray that is really only on top of the head of the shark. I might suggest darkening the silver on the shark or even making the top of the head black like the rest of the shark while using the silver as a highlight to the ridges of the shark, much like on the gills and behind the dorsal fin.but other than that, great work as always. | ANAÂ | LAA | LARÂ | LAL | ASU | CSULB |Â USMNTÂ | USWNT |Â LAFCÂ | OCSC |Â MAN UTDÂ |
dgnmrwrw
#26: St. Louis BluesTo me, this logo is right up there with the Bruins and the Habs in the "nearly untouchable" category. It's so simple and elegant and classic, I'd be a fool to change it. Or the colors--the two blues and the yellow are superb. All I've done is tweak the wordmark (I'm pretty sure the StL Rams use something very similar). For the home and away uniforms, I have updated the style that they've been using for a while now (that they botched up when they went Edge). Pretty simple stuff. I did make the stripes on the shoulder yoke into an arch shape, which I think is a nice distinguishing feature. I had looked at filling in the sleeve stripes all the way to the edge, but it made everything look very full, and I wanted some more negative space in there. For the alternate, the natural choice was a jersey featuring the darker blue. I also wanted to use the trumpet logo--which I've always liked--and to develop a custom script wordmark. In the end, I created a blues-y script logo that stands alone as the crest. I know some people don't like script-only crests, but I think this one is stylized enough and tight enough to work, especially on an alternate. The simple trumpet logo is featured on the shoulders. I also used a traditional striping pattern that matches the color progression on the script logo. chickenfish13
The whole thing is great, but that St.Louis script is like DAYUMMMMMM. It is so sweeeeet. Great job, as usual. dribbble
JayLo1112
yes that st. louis script is just spot on. I love it. the whole blues concept is great, this has been such an awesome series.
worcat
could you post the st. louis word mark and the trumpet logo in a larger format? I always thought the trumpet logo could have had a larger role in the blues history, maybe add some more to it? It looks too gold and simple in the preview, maybe more texture, some blues or navy to give it depth..I have been waiting for the blues concept forever. I totally understand what you mean about untouchable and it's a timeless logo. however, you have some skill. I can't wait to see what you can do with this.edit - i remember the blues had a concept that never made it off the table where the blue note was actually a hockey stick at the bottom. it'd be really cool if you went that direction. the jets had a cool design in making the 'J' a stick, i think this could be cool. NorthStar74
All I can say is holy smokes to all the redesigned jerseys in here... I am sooo impressed... wow... very good work and I can't wait to see the rest of the other teams.... will post my opinions on the teams jerseys later...One thing, when that 30 team redesign is done, could there be a side by side comparison of the current NHL logos with the redesigned NHL logos?? Would be interesting to see how it goes... vicfurth
These are very nice as usual...Did you ever consider putting any yellow on the back numbers? I think that's the one minor thing this whole set is lacking.

karby65
Damn, I had hopes it'd be the angles and trumpets again! Not that much of a fan of the Blues 3rd, but if you get rid of the royal, and put white in it's place for the striping (remove from the gold swath), it would look a lot better.
