Neither of the uniforms that were depicted there are accurate. They're somewhat close, but definitely not accurate.

If they're close, then they're nearing my idea of perfection for the Twins.

I know he and others cannot go into detail, but my guess is that one thing that is not accurate is the "Minnesota" script. I can't wait to see what they actually look like. It seems like they are moving away from any all blue jersey.

here is a picture from www.ballparkmagic.com. It is a picture of the ceiling in a reseturant in Target Field called Hrbek's. There are multiple logos from all of Twins history and also in the mix are the newly released logos with the new wordmark.

I hope so. I like the keeping of the current home uni with the tweaked script. But if that's their primary design, then the road jersey should not work in some lame 1960s script. If that is in the neighborhood, then I hope the script 1) has blue on it and 2) does not have the stars in the tail.

As for the alt, I'd rather not bring that script back even for an alt. Pick an identity.

That right there is the single most important thing that can be said to MLB team execs. Almost all that has been done wrong in MLB uniform design this decade has stemmed from an unwillingness to commit to a team identity. Mets, Twins, Nats, Brewers -- teams need to figure out what they stand for and create a visual identity that communicates that identity, rather than trying to shoehorn in multiple half-assed looks and flavors.

As to the scripts, I'm holding my breath in hopes that we've seen the last of the lettering vomit that is the 1960s Twins script. If the team really wants to wear script with all the qualities of cursive done by a drunken third-grader, they can just wear the 1960s script all the time. If not, then they shouldn't wear it at all outside of once-a-year throwback games. And while I would love to see a Minnesota script that better matches the updated Twins script we've seen, that old Minnesota script with the stars is if anything even worse than the horrific old Twins script. With the Wild recently debuting a Minnesota script that seems to be gaining fast and widespread acceptance locally, the Twins will really be screwing the pooch if they just recycle, or even merely update, that old Minnesota script. If the Twins are going with a script on the roads, it needs to be fresh and the Twins absolutely have to hit the design out of the ballpark or it will be a colossal failure in terms of identity positioning within the local market.

Personally, my only non-negotiable would be the concept that the Twins are a team that wears navy caps and pinstriped uniforms with red lettering. If the Twins keep that basic formula, everything else is all details. Even bad script would work, in a way, as long as it's red and appears on pinstripes under a navy cap. That is a combination that the Twins own, and that makes the Twins instantly recognizable. Which is the whole point of uniforms, so that is not a visual impression that should be abandoned lightly.

The script on the front should be outlined in navy, or, the numbers should be outlined in white (which wouldn't seem to go along with their scheme.) Without the pinstripes, the back of that jersey looks a lot like the Braves.

Is the regular home jersey only being updated to the new wordmark?

Will there still be a blue alt?

How close is that road jersey being shown to what the final jersey looks like?

I want to figure out how much I am going to need to spend in new Twins jerseys!

How about doing everything in navy outlined in red? Of all the navy+red teams, nobody's doing that. I think they all have red numbers.

It still makes no sense that their jersey scripts wouldn't match their new wordmark.

This is under the assumption that the source who commented on the twinsballpark2010 website was accurate when they said they were going back to the old MINNESOTA script from the early 60s.

Although the away pin striped uni had a Minnesota script that didn't match the old Twins wordmark. A few other teams like the Blue Jays do not have matching lettering styles on their home and away uniforms.

I think the original source probably meant it had a white outline around the red and blue, like the Tigers have on their roads.

Somewhere along the way, someone in MLB decided that it would help the name "pop" of the road grays I for one think it looks too stark.
