#19.15 Cincinnati Vultures Update

Up Next: #19.16 Asheville Mountaineers Update

So, as you guys can tell, I've been at this one for awhile, and I'm fully prepared to get this thing up and running again after getting this one out of the way. I've changed directions a few times, deciding on what path I would really like to take for this team. The first thing I want to point out is the color scheme: The past few years, the colors of the Vultures were continually getting darker and darker (as I've shown here in the description), So with all of the use of dark color in the league already, I decided I'd take a U-turn into the past. I made a color change and brightened up the wine-color (as that's what it's liked to be called these days)to match the 2006 look and matched it with athletic gold, similar to USC or Iowa State. Yes, I was encouraged by those two schools to bring back this look for the Vultures. On top of that, I added a rich cream color to accent each color.

The primary was a struggle for me, I was aiming for something simple yet strong, sort of the like the Seahawks logo. I decided on the head of a vulture in white and wine. I also tried to add a 'wing' aspect to the design, using rounded off striping on the pants and scripts. I used this on the simple secondary as well, a stylized C for Cincinnati with wing-serifs. The script is also custom, which was what made it difficult (especially becuase Inkscape doesn't really skew text that well), which is an angled Vultures script with wing-serifs on the V and S.

However, with the blast from the past color scheme, I tried to keep the uniforms basic, but I also used wing-striping on the pants, as stated before.

Would really love some feedback.

I like the the color scheme and script you have here a lot. I also like the more simplified logo you went for, as I think those are the types of logos that would look best on football helmets. A few suggestions though:

-The logo and wordmark have a lot of white in them, but the jerseys don't have much white at all. I think adding some white could spruce them up a bit (maybe as outlines for the numbers?)

-There are little bits in the script's background that look like they should be filled in with the wine color. Right now they're a little distracting.

Good stuff here as always, I'm really digging the colors! The uniforms look great too, I love the simplicity. Can't wait for the next concept!

On a side, I read that you did these in inkscape. I just got it and I'm having the hardest time figuring it out. How do you trace your sketches with it and color it? It looks like you're a pro at it! :D

The opinions I express are mine, and mine only. If I am to express them, it is not to say you or anyone else is wrong, and certainly not to say that I am right.

Actually, I do have one suggestion looking over this again. I'd lose the tan outlining on the logos and just make it gold.

I agree with this, since tan isn't used anywhere else except for the outline. Other than that, I love the update.

Thanks Dolphins91 for the jersey avatars.

Good update. I agree with ditching the cream, since it just seems extra. On the wordmark, those little spots between the L, T, and U are distracting. The wordmark would be better off without them. Also on the wordmark, the extra section on the bottom seems unnecessary. Lastly, The C on the pants is giving me a major Badge of Cowardice feel, since it appears to be running away. I would put the C logo on the right leg only, possibly on the hip. And in the future do a "helmet test": if it looks backward on the helmet; it will look backward on the pant leg too.

Big fan of the Vultures set.

I like every single team on this series so far, very inventive yet simple. Eagerly waiting the newer teams :)

With that being said....I prefer the first Vultures set over this current one. But this is still pretty solid!
