The Cornucopia of Possible NBA Logo Changes

I've been staring at the Cav's logo previously discussed, and is it just me or does it not make sense spatially? The hilt is in front of the wordmark, the blade is pointed away, but still pokes through. I guess I've never thought about it before because they're always in 2nd mediums, but is the "Cavaliers" in that logo supposed to be a banner that has depth or am I just crazy?

You're right...

It's more like how a "Safety Pin" would be attached...

Speaking of retro logos....if anyone's interested, I posted a scan of the Knicks' old logo in the Requests forum in order to see if anyone wanted to try their hand at tracing this complex thing:

Ouch, that looks just as complicated, if not more than creating a vector of this retro baby!

I actually have that one in vector...

What logo are you referring to in this instance (even though I know you have them all ;-))?

This one:

I believe that the one on the main site here also came from probably the same vector file.

I have a lot of NBA graphics, but certainly not all of them...I'm not even sure I have more than a number of other posters here...

Any chance we will see some changes to the Nets uniforms? They asked Prokhorov how he would improve the Nets image, and he did not have a serious answer. In the past when teams do as bad as the Nets, they try to roll out a new uniform, trying to reflect that they are a new team. Then again, with the possible Brooklyn move in a few years, it would be stupid now to change things up, only having to change it up again.

I think you've hit on it there. No point in doing anything for the temporary stay in Newark - save the new uniforms (and hopefully, new name) for the move east across the Bay.

C'mon, this is the NBA. I wouldn't be surprised if the Nets just took this logo

and replaced the New Jersey stuff with a map of Brooklyn.

Here's the league at a glance for the 2010 season.

P.S., I put the Adidas 3 stripes there as a joke, since everyone hates it.

P.S. #2, I'm using Conrad's logos because the new ones aren't officially released. I repeat, these are not official.

I think everyone is taking those ?watch photos? as an example of what all the primaries will look like. Who?s to say in some cases the teams didn't use their secondary logo on the watch, i.e. the Jazz with the missing ?Utah? script on the logo. I guess they'd be the only one if that logosheet was compiled from those watch photos, but who knows. I guess I have a difficult time believing that ?Utah? won't be on there.

Maybe with all his bickering about making enough money to remain competitive, Greg Miller is seeking to put more urgency in the fanbase by removing the "Utah" from the Jazz logo. First, competitiveness, now, keeping the team. :P
