Cole Tweaks the NHL: One Team at a Time.

Another team that barely needed any tweaks at all, the Washington Capitals. I don't have much to say here. I removed the side panels, cause this isn't the NFL in the early 2000's. I fixed the socks, because i hate the capitals upside-down socks...

I also made a third jersey that is a blue interpretation of the original capitals uniforms, hopefully trying both eras together even closer than they already are with the post-edge look.

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

Aaaaand here's the Boston Bruins.

First off, the most noticeable change with this team is the color scheme. My favorite color is brown, and not many sports teams can pull it off. I think the Boston Bruins are one of the few who can, as it's a color they've used at times in their history. I loved their winter classic uniforms so much that I used that color scheme as a base for the shades I ended up chosing. Brown replaces black. Ivory replaces white. It gives the team a vintage look that I don't feel is forced. I also decided to use the rounded collars I used on my Habs concept on all three uniforms.

I fully expect the alternate jersey to be lambasted by everyone who sees it, but it's a vision I've had since I started this project on day one. It has historical grounds, and just simply gives off a very "Vintage Bruins" look to me. The fact that I used #2 is simply a coincidence, but this jersey evokes the pain and death that Eddie Shore doled out to his opponents. Hate if you must, but I'd buy the :censored: out of it.

Not much else to say on this one. Please be kind.

Not sure I like the removal of the Caps' side panels. There is now pretty much nothing going on around the back, thus the jerseys look quite plain in comparison to what they use now. That alternate is sharp, but I'd love to see the Weagle on the front of one of their jerseys.

Interesting choice of the era to throw back with your Bruins alt, sticking a large number on the front instead of a logo. That would definitely be unique, though I imagine it would suck for anyone wanting to buy a blank replica of it

I really like the Bruins. As bad as the "vintage white" fad is getting, to put it with brown and gold seems to work as a color palette, kinda like how the Wild has been using "wheat" all these years and nobody said anything.

I think your bruins concept would still work with black instead of brown, and I'd kinda like to see what that would look like, along with a two-digit number just to see that third really fleshed out (it looks like it should have a chest patch or something...but with a two-digit number, that wouldn't work). But honestly, that set would make the Bruins classy and unique, something that's hard to come by today in sports.

Great sets, keep up the good work, I really hope you finish this series, because you've yet to have one that's bad.

I'll respect any opinion that you can defend.

I'm very surprised, I thought I would hate these. Umm, the only thing I dislike is the torse striping on the home and roads, I think if you used the striping from the alt, they would be excellent. Actually, I'm not that big a fan of the off white roads, (Though it looks great on the home and alternate). Unfortunately, I don't know how you'd be able to fix that.

The Alt is very clever, I've always wanted one team to go with a number on the front, and to tell you the truth, I'd love to see theBruins go with that look. This is definitely my favorite of the entire set, nice work.

I've got a dribbble, check it out if you like my stuff; alternatively, if you hate my stuff, send it to your enemies to punish their insolence!

i present for your consideration the detroit red wings.

call me lazy, or call me a traditionalist, but i barely did a single thing to the home or road. the only thing even worth noting is the hem stripes, which i always felt looked incredibly awkward on the reebok jersey cut. when all you've got a single stripe, i see no reason why it shouldn't follow the contour of the hem. crucify me if you must, wings fans... but i just think this minor alteration looks a ton better.

the meat of this concept lies within the alternate uniform. i made a rule for myself when i started this project, and that's that every single team MUST have an alternate sweater. that means montreal, new jersey, detroit. everyone. the problem with doing an alternate for detroit is their color palette. there's only so many things you can do with one red marker on a white piece of paper. this led me to debate with myself what other colors could possibly be used for a red wings sweater that wouldn't be universally rejected by all of hockey tradition. silver was a given. if their marketing department had a hard time selling silver on wings fans, they'd probably just have to call it "stanley cup silver" and their fan base would eat it up. that gave me one other color, but i wasn't done. i considered black for about half a second, before i realized that they aren't the detroit lions, and shouldn't ever put themselves on that level. then i considered purple (from the octopus logo) and realized that was just ridiculously ugly and cartoony for a team like detroit. that's when i remembered the 2-tone red all-star sweaters, and how nice i thought they looked on the ice, despite never being a fan of any 2-tone non-blue uniforms.

now with the colors out of the way, it was time to focus on the design. i didn't want to go straight throwback, because there's no creativity or fun in that on my end. so i decided to draw inspiration from their history as the detroit cougars/falcons and come up with a somewhat modern uniform with deep roots in detroit hockey history. i hope you like what i came up with. i like it more than i expected to.

No they wouldn't. Wings fans are more intelligent than that. Drop the silver and your third would look pretty cool.

Edit: I should also say good job on the home and a way set!

Patched together now is the San Jose Sharks...

I decided to go with the things that I think worked from each of their previous looks, as well make some small tweaks that i think work better than what they've had. i normally don't enjoy seeing mashed up jerseys that blend every era into one, because they normally look disjointed and overdone. i tried to avoid that here, while still using things from all 3 eras.

i think the sharks are on of the better edge looks, despite my hatred of the team. that said, i've never been a fan of their damn-near columbia-blue teal. if you're going to be a teal team, wear teal. teal is greenish blue, not sky blue. i also went back to silver, instead of the orange. i just thought it fit better.

the primary logo i used is tweaked in a few ways too. first of all, i changed the shark from teal to silver. i just always thought sharks were sort of a silver color, so it was an obvious choice, especially when i was trying to bring silver back into the scheme. i also changed the triangle into a true triangle shape, like their original logo, rather than the curved-top they've had post-edge. the last tweaks were minor, like adding stick tape to the butt end of the stick, changing the stick to a more wooden color, and the eye from orange to red... i also made the triangle's outlines extend to both sides of the triangle, instead of being solid black on the upper left. the secondary/alternate logo is a slightly modified version of zephyr's x-line logo that i've always adored.

the rest if fairly self explanatory, if it wasn't all that way to begin with.

The red eye makes the shark look robotic. The yellow from the stick would be better. Also, I'll second the fin logo.

Other than that, GREAT
