Cole Tweaks the NHL: One Team at a Time.

Lightning: I love it! The pit stripes I actually dig quite a bit, and while an unpopular opinion, I feel the silver works out great. This look encompasses all things tampa bay lightning.

Habs: I'm not high on the third, but I don't hate it either. The Habs just have one of those looks that is great, but hard to go nuts with for an alt. The collar idea is fantastic, also, and you executed it well.

Flames: They should've switched to your set when they did the edge change. The alt uniform is an issue, simply because I've never liked the flames using black. However, your new color choice for the primaries is perfect.

Penguins: I like what you tried do with the gold, and the relatively clean look is nice. My only dig is that I feel like there should be some kind of shoulder patch on the primaries.

Preds: Hard for me to judge because I loathe the Preds primary logo, but you did some neat stuff here. I like the road white the best, the checkered bands look fantastic on it, on the home, however, they seem out of place slightly. The alt seems very busy, plus I'm not personally a fan of the sharpened shoulder pattern.

Panthers: I like how you bailed on the stupid broken stick and ditched the encircled panther head logo. However I'm not a fan of the faded gold. One thing I've always liked about the panthers was the vivid yellow that really made them stand apart when it's infused with the darker blue and red (ala iowa state). This seems somewhat drab.

Rangers: No major complaints here. I personally would've gone with a more striking red, but the overall pallette works well regardless. The alt is fantastic. I want buy.

Ducks: Just way too much going on here. Compromising multiple generations of Duck history into 3 jerseys is hard, and the major sticking point for in it all is the yellow and the jade. I'd say lose the yellow or at least make it exclusive to the D crest, I see way too much of the Sharks current set in this.

Sens: Thanks for using the alternate as the primary, I've always felt it was their best logo and it's been ditched forever. I would've added a band to one of the sleeves echoing the arrow-pattern in the crest just for a unique flavor. The alt is rough. I don't like the stitch creating sort of a "curtain-opening" revealing the barber pole. Maybe less could be a lot more, but I support barber pole as long as it's not overwhelming.

Wild: I reviewed the concept with an open mind, and I just can't like it. The Wild currently have one of the more unique sets in the league, and personally I actually like the wild's color scheme despite it's drawbacks, and this scheme as you said just comes off as drab, and suffers from modernization instead of thriving off of it. I could see it actually finding a soft spot for me if you created more contrast, but as it is I'm not a big supporter.

Canucks: No complaints! Thanks for killing the orca.

Blackhawks: Home and away - NAILED IT. I adore the road uni concept more than the home, but well done on both sides. The alt is a bit much, needs more red for sure, or at least tone it down with some of the cream/wheat/tan from the shoulder patch. Excellent stuff.

Caps: I have no complaints, really. You have the Caps look as they SHOULD look, and they're close to that look as it is currently.

Bruins: At first I didn't quite know what make of it, as it's always risky using brown and gold together (see Re: Toilet) but the more I looked it over the more I fell in love with it. The alt is especially killer. Ivory, gold, dark brown? Tremendous, sir, tremendous. It's a bit weird with just having a giant number instead of a crest, but that makes it unique. *stamps endorsement*

Red Wings: Another virtual untouchable. And while I loathe the Red Wings, that alt is sexy. Definitely says "motor city," very classic sharp feel to it, while not overdosing on modernities that Wings fans may drop dead upon seeing.

Sharks: Thanks, thanks, 1000x thanks for getting rid of the damn orange and going back to teal. That being said, lose the red eye, please. I was a huge fan of the sharks original logo, and you did a pretty solid job of hybridizing the new and the old. Shoulder patch should be the fin, no exceptions. I like your alt's crest but only as a crest. Also thanks for bringing back that numeric font. Well done!!!

After a few day of work, I present the Phoenix Coyotes:

I wanted to accomplish a few things with this team. First of all, I wanted a return to an aesthetic that was very desert-like and Arizonan. Take the current Phoenix Coyotes identity and plop them down in any city in the world, and they'd fit right in (which might come in handy next season). That used to not be the case. The original Coyotes sweaters had their flaws (waaaaay too many colors just to name one), but they were unmistakably a southwestern hockey franchise. I wanted to return to that.

With that in mind, I updated their original logo to fit with my concept. I kept the modern colors (slightly darker sand) and tried to fit in some Navajo style artwork to complement the old logo without over-designing the jersey to pieces. I drew inspiration from the Coyotes current alternate jersey for the brick helmet/black jersey/brick pants look, because it's pretty slick, unconventional, and would make them a team that wouldn't ever get confused for any of the other black or red teams.

Without further ado, here's what I came up with. The template for the alternate is based on the soon-to-be-defunt Thrasher alternate. It looks awful on Atlanta, but it's a very interesting cut that allowed me to do a few things I liked.

Um. Wow! I like these a lot. The coyote looks a bit odd with no logo on his chest, and while I liked the dark green of the 90's sweaters, I like how you've simplified the team's colors. I'm not a fan of the shoulder numbers or the use of side panels on the thirds, but overall, they look good and I really like the brick socks.

Wow. Those are amazing! I love the Navajo design on the home and away, especially with those colors. And that alt is really slick...I like the incorporation of the AZ flag on the sleeves. I'm not even a hockey fan and I would consider buying one of these!

That is brilliant. I love that phoenix set, totally nailed it. Colors are great, I love the infusion of the navajo designs. The only thing I wonder is of the side panels on the alternate. They seem somewhat out of place. Otherwise another smashing concept.

Proving that simple can still look good, my Los Angeles Kings.

Not much to say overall. Inspired by their recent throwbacks, but altered slightly to my preferences, I return to the Forum Blue and Yellow. The crown is from one of their original logos, but has never appeared on the front of a jersey before. Back when the Kings originally wore purple and yellow, the yellow was their home jersey, but here it is the alternate. Purple is at home, since the NHL mandates dark colors at home. Rather than make yellow the full time road jersey, I figured it would be best to make the roads white, and give the Kings the option to wear the yellow on the road, or at home as a nod to their original homes.

First up, the newly butchered redesigned Tampa Bay Lightning.

Unleash your fury, CCSLC masses.

Very nice set. THIS is what the Lightning should have went with, instead of that bland "This is what we would have looked like if we played in the 1950s" look. <_<

After spending forever trying to make a decent crest for the alternate jersey, I've finished the New York Islanders.

I know they recently switched back to royal blue from their short sojourn in navy-land, but it's my personal opinion that the Yashin/Peca era Islanders team is the best dressed team in their franchise history. Navy works for them. With that in mind, I set out to choose a shade of Navy that I felt would be unique, nautical, and visually pleasing, without picking one that looks entirely out of place in the Islanders color scheme. I think I chose a nice unique shade of greenish navy. To help balance out the colors, I took the Islanders red and gave it a slightly redder hue than what is currently used.

When it came to the Alternate, I didn't want to give them a boring orange version of their home or road, or anything orange at all. I decided to take the parts of the Fish-sticks era uniforms that I thought worked and bring them into the fold. Instead of using a greenish-teal and a grey, I decided to use a color inspired by the Dallas Cowboys "metallic silver green" pants. I also created my own crest for the front of the sweater that I really enjoy, but wish it were executed better. Logo design isn't my strong suit, so I'm open to suggestion or help if anyone has anything they'd like to say. I thought it was pretty clever, if nothing else. Since some of the detail is lost in the lower-resolution, I included a bigger version of the alternate logo.

That about sums it up... Whatcha'll thank?
