Nice work on the Marlins. I'd like to see the silver/blue incorporated into the uniform somewhere else.

Also I only wanted to use that color in the primary (kinda like the way they use orange now) because it is very similar to the Rays' powder blue. Yes, I know the Rays don't exist anymore in this thread, but they do in 2012 which is the time period I based my design in.

The Miami Marlins have kept their look fairly unchanged since the move to the new stadium in 2012.

They, like most other teams, have dropped the grey road jersey in favor of a color. Teams are split about 50/50 on using colored pants or white pants on the road. (No one wears a colored jersey and grey pants because, well that's just ugly.)

Yes, I am using this thread as an excuse to predict what the Marlins unis will look like next year (minus my diamond logo and plus a grey road jersey). I intentionally made them not look "good" by my taste, but rather current/trendy/what I could see them doing. This is something I am going to explore a little bit more in this series, especially since trends will undoubtedly be different in 10, 20, 30 years. Should make things interesting...

Thanks. I have been looking for more 2012 Marlins concepts. Here are my thoughts:

1. The typeface seems a bit off. I don't know exactly what style you are going for, but the team has said the new identity will reflect the current city of Miami (re: South Beach etc.) and this seems a bit too old-timey

2. I like the idea of using a yellow-orange. They have hinted very heavily they will use orange but they must do something so that they look different from the Orioles and Giants. The lighter orange is probably a good idea. The color doesn't pop in this graphic but I think adjusting the tone a tad bit will make it vibrant in real life.

And one last thing, could you make a mock-up of the black hat, but use the "M" like how it is on the black jersey? (letter is also black with white and orange outline) And maybe have the brim be orange/yellow. I think that'd look good.

Like this?

Thanks for the C&C! You're probably right about the font, I can see them doing something Padres-ish (my least favorite wordmark in MLB). I just thought this font had a modern faux-throwback look, another route I could see them going.

I'll do a double post today, since neither of these are too different.

Small changes for the Cards. The obvious change is the red away jersey (yeah yeah "it should say St. Louis", I don't think it WILL say St. Louis). Also the bird cap has been scrapped, but the single bird on bat is now used as a sleeve patch.

The Cubs' blue pants on the road would have been considered hideous by 2011 standards. However, they are now considered one of the nicer road uniforms in baseball. Other small changes include the sleeve patch, and the elimination of the red outline on the home NOB.

C&C is appreciated as always. Next up is going to be the new-look Royals.

Your Marlins color scheme and logo package just doesn't fit, but I gotta say the rendering itself is pretty fantastic.

Maybe switch the colors? Though the tuscon-esque font might still bother me even if it's in vibrant, south beach colors.

If colored pants are popular in 2040, then why not give the Cards red pants?

I mentioned earlier that teams in this alternate reality are split about 50/50 using white or colored pants on the road. The Cards have never been a team to jump on bandwagon design trends.

Red pants are horrifying anyhow... anyone remember the Indians? The Cards set looks beautiful as is - Just say no to Tomato-pants!!!!

Okay. But I don't see the Cubs as a team that goes with these said trends, either.

The Royals finally decided it was time for an overhaul to their look. After all, the Dodgers had it first.

2040Royals.jpg

The new KC cap logo is based on the old Kansas City Athletics logo. (Also because interlocking letters in two different colors look awesome.)

The scripts are based on the Royals' old road block scripts.

The gold is brighter and more prominent. Also the white has been replaced by cream.

The powder blue obviously also recalls their old road jerseys.

I am really loving the interlocking KC logo. I live in KC and the Royals have been selling more and more stuff with the old A's logo on it lately, including a hat that is royal blue with a white interlocking KC. Also, I've noticed staff members wearing polos and jackets that have the interlocking KC. I really hope something like this is in the future for the Royals.

I really hope the Royals get a overhaul at some point. I really love their current look but I think it's time for a new, more unique identity,

Another thing I really like about this set is the all the gold you added. I've been hoping for a while that the Royals would embrace the gold and use it to set them apart from some other teams in the league. I think royal blue, powder blue and gold is a nice color scheme. They all work together if you ask me.

I'm not the biggest fan of this Royals wordmark and especially not feeling it on top of the crowned shield.

I typically don't like fonts with 2 outlines but it's not too bad on this one. I like it more on the powder blue than the cream for some reason.

If this set was in the Royals future, as a fan of the club I would be pretty happy with it.
