Kevin's soccer concept thread

I don't know why I haven't done this until now, so I'm going to post this now so the large majority of the board that doesn't visit the CPL forum can see the pictures and critique them. These are the (new) uniforms that my CPL team, CA Real San Diego (in case you're wondering, the CA both stands for Club Atlético and also represents the state of California) will be using for the league's second season. As you can see, they're Nike kits (I cobbled together a couple templates to get the look I wanted) and since it's a fantasy league, I decided to take the Nike thing and run with it, by which I mean I have eight different kits. That's right, I'm the Oregon Ducks of the CPL (to the slight consternation of the other members ). After all, since it's not a real league, I can throw out my actual prejudices against Oregon's ridiculous number of uniforms and unnecessary use of colors like black and silver.

Imagevenue is being annoying right now and Photobucket doesn't automatically do thumbnails, so links will have to suffice. Many thanks to theflakeband, who (as far as I know) is not the originator of these templates but is the most prominent user and is where I got them from.

Nothing really out of the ordinary here. The colors are based on those of the San Diego city flag, which you can see under the team's crest on the jersey. The shirt sponsor is General Atomics, as I felt that having Qualcomm as a shirt sponsor whilst also having the team based at Qualcomm Stadium was redundant. The choice of a new sponsor was a deliberate attempt at doing something unusual, as how many teams have a defense contractor as their sponsor? As for the design of the kit itself, I think the US men's national team has one of the best kits in the game today, so I decided to take significant cues from it, with my own tweaks.

Now here's where things get interesting:

Home black kit: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v189/RXTEWMU/CPL%20stuff/26fc8d3e.png

Home blue kit: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v189/RXTEWMU/CPL%20stuff/10723bc1.png

Home silver kit: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v189/RXTEWMU/CPL%20stuff/4f5564bc.png

This once again goes along with the Nike craziness theme. Nike has their black and silver schtick, so I've got two kits based around that, and then I decided to go with a blue kit as well just because, and also because San Diego is a coastal county.

Finally:

Marine Corps MARPAT kit: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v189/RXTEWMU/CPL%20stuff/86fca036.png

The league will be having Service Week during the next season, my suggestion of which was inspired by the fact that Edmonton City AC wore an ANZAC Day kit while playing Real, while I wore a desert MARPAT kit to keep up the military appreciation theme. During Service Week, every team will wear a uniform honoring a different public service organization, and I had a choice between the Marine Corps and the Navy, so I decided to stick with the Marines. Unfortunately, the desert MARPAT color scheme was too similar to the silver kit, so I changed to the woodland colors.

Thoughts?

OTHER CONCEPTS:

I am taking requests for concept ideas (not real soccer teams, as that's theflakeband's territory), but simply requesting them in this thread does not guarantee that I will get to them. However, I will definitely try my best to fulfill as many requests as possible. This is for uniforms only. I don't do logos. If you want a request, please fill out the following:

Number of jerseys/shorts/socks:

Colors:

Kit manufacturer:

Shirt sponsor:

Logo:

Custom details:

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

I considered actually making it a camouflage pattern kit, but I felt that my uniforms already had enough craziness, so I just used the colors.

If its only being used one week a year, why not add more craziness.

More class A C&C from Jahgee. MARPAT camo and a diagonal stripe would look horrendous.

I like them a lot. The colors work well together, and the black/blue alts look good with that color scheme. It's not so outlandish in soccer to have a completely random alt anyway, so why not? My only nitpick is that I don't think the silver/anthracite/black kit works that well with the scheme you have going on. But it's a solid set.

Yeah, the silver kit is a deliberate divergence from the rest of the color scheme since it's exactly the kind of thing Nike would do if there was a Nike soccer team with eight different kits. You know it as well as I do. :D

No, I've already got one shade of yellow and I don't see the need for another.

So does Nike's lovechild in college football, but they used it for one jersey that was devoid of there school colors. Just like your silver alternate. So, if your team was real and got there uniforms provided by Nike, Nike would want there corporate colors (Carbon, antratice and Volt) on your uniform that is there corporate colors.

I'm doing the Nike thing but I'm not going completely crazy with it. If I was, there would be road variations on the blue, black, silver and camouflage uniforms.

Jahgee, please learn to spell correctly. It's gotten ridiculous. Not to mention the grammar on the last sentence is horrendous.

As for the concept: I really like it. I feel like something's off with the yellow kit and the alternate white kit. Probably something with the yellow The others are really great though. I like these a lot!

Is it devoid of the Nike lovechild's school colors? Yes

Is it CA Real San Diego's uniforms? Yes

Is it Nike's corporate colors? Yes

Is the silver and black uniforms Nike's corporate colors? Yes

All of those their's were correct

Can we please make a spelling and grammar test a requirement for membership? Please?

Ok, I've got a few more concepts I'm working on, so I guess this is now a general concepts thread.

This one is for a friend of mine who had expressed interest in joining the CPL. He's a huge Sacramento Kings fan, so I used the Kings' colors and made ARCO the shirt sponsor. Instead of doing another Nike set, I went with Adidas. Variety is the spice of life, after all.

The logo is supposed to be reminiscent of Tottenham's crest.

Purple/white/purple is the primary, gray/white/purple is the clash kit, all-black is the third and then the ACUPAT uniform is for Service Week, which I previously explained.
