  1. I'd also add the best-looking jersey the Cubs have ever worn, the 1937 beauty:

  2. But the White Sox never wear white socks. Black pants would have been the perfect opportunity to rectify that.

  5. I need to have more faith in my team. For the first time since I was in elementary school The New York Saints...err Islanders have made the Final Four two seasons in a row. Last season was special because it was the first time in 27 years that they made the Conference Finals, this season's just that much more special. It's great to be back! We've gone from being a laughing stock defending a decrepit old building to a respected organization defending the Historic Nassau Coliseum! Win one more for the old barn! The Drive For Five Is Alive! LGI!!!

  6. In case anyone wants to see all the Euro 2020 kits in one place, here's something I put together for the mothership: https://news.sportslogos.net/2021/06/09/heres-what-every-team-will-be-wearing-during-euro-2020/soccer/

  9. Suggestion, what if the Cubs outlined the Wrigleyville letters in red? That would mimmick the white letters being against the red sign, obviously it's the red of the 6 point stars as well, and of course it would provide a spark of color to the whole uniform.

  10. Pretty much everything about it is an upgrade. But I'm really in love with the Miami script. A huge improvement over the standard one.

  11. I’m not entirely convinced the fan outcry is there. It’s popular, yes, but there’s also quite a lot of fans who love the purple throwback stuff too. From what I can see, the amount of redrock and throwback stuff is usually pretty close at games (keep in mind the Jazz are giving away shirts during the playoffs, which is lending to a more unanimous redrock look in the crowd during the last few games). I think something the redrock and purple stuff can shake hands on is that they both seem to be more favored than navy, that’s for sure.

  13. Brown more than likely had a backup plan to the backup plan. If Moon denied his request, I’d be willing to bet Brown would’ve just said “aw shucks” and picked a different number. A bit of a stretch to call him “immature” or a “jabroni” for simply wanting a certain number.

  16. I really don’t see a problem with asking permission to wear it. JJ Watt contacted Marshall Goldberg’s family for their permission so he could wear the retired 99 in Arizona. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nfl.com/_amp/jj-watt-99-marshall-goldberg-daughter-gives-blessing-cardinals IMO, it’s completely fine if the player asks permission. Regardless of who the player is. Honestly, I’d be more than happy if a Washington player asked to wear 33 or 21. The latter happens all the time and Snyder shoots it down relentlessly. For the record, 21 shouldn’t be put up on a throne in Washington.

  17. I'm honestly trying to find the words to describe what I just witnessed with the Bruins and I...I just can't. In a usual game, teams will collectively make 2-3 bonehead mistakes each period. It seemed like the Bruins were making 2-3 mistakes per shift. Not even crazy complicated mistakes either - just basic stuff like foolishly stick-handling in front of your own net or suddenly not being able to catch a pass. Plus, I cannot get over the lack of urgency. Five shots in the third period? Of an elimination game when you're down by two? Gross. I guess it didn't help that they played most of the third like they were trying to protect a 1-goal lead... The Bruins were scared. It's sort of silly when commentators or fans of other teams talk about the Bruins being a "big, mean, physical" team when that persona has been long extinct. Most of the Bruins tonight looked absolutely petrified to touch the puck. Same problem got them in the Cup Finals against St. Louis a few years back. It's as if the team is going out of their way to find people who look big and physical, yet aren't once the puck drops. Hell, if Nick Ritchie was 5'10" or shorter would have never even sniffed Junior hockey, never mind the NHL. It's going to be an interesting offseason. I think a lot of what we're seeing as problems within the Bruins comes from coaching and upper management. Lack of depth, motivation, etc. However, I can't see them tossing Neely and Sweeney out of town. They'll probably tweak a few things, convince the fans that Jake DeBrusk is (finally) going to turn a corner in his career, and sign some guy from the fourth line of another team and the personalities on WEEI will pretend to know hockey for the Bruins designated three minutes and be all excited about it. Then back to talking about how the Celtics are going to be a dynasty in 2-3 years again... Time for NHL "hibernation!" Best of luck to the Islanders. They are a very good team and I hope they go far. Take down the Lightning!

  18. There’s something about the Bruins that just irks me. Can’t quite put my finger on it. Probably a combination of classic Boston smugness, Brad Marchand, and the most annoying goal horn in the NHL. So I do always enjoy seeing them knocked out. (Huge respect for Bergeron and Rask though). Islanders just grinded it out and outworked the Bruins this series. Will be very interesting to see how they deal with Tampa, a team that not only has more than one line, but maybe the best depth in the NHL. Also, Barry Trotz man. He’s the gift that keeps on giving, bounced Pittsburgh first then Boston. Will always have a soft spot for him. Say what you will about how his teams have finished for the majority of his career but he knows how to build a contending team.

  20. Group F is the group of death both on and off the pitch; I’d say Portugal, France and Germany are my faves of the bunch. Italy is close, especially if they use that green third instead of the crappy template away. Nike really won the manufacturers’ tournament.

  23. Besides the [1 + 1 = 2] factor, one could wonder if Julio Jones chose to sport #2 as a tribute to his former QB in ATL. Additionally (no pun intended), I am slightly surprised that Derrick Henry did not take that available #2 in the first place. Granted, Henry has already accomplished a lot while wearing #22, so it makes sense not to switch at this point in his career, especially during his Tennessee Titans tenure.

  24. If it's against the Clippers you've got the whole world on your side. Would have been nice to see them keep it in the 7-10 point range they had heading into the last minute, but a win is a win.

  27. NFC West... same rules. (The Seahawks are getting left out. The one helmet rule really makes them throwback-proof, and I doubt anything I'd design for them could be honestly considered a "tweak".) The Cardinals throwback sleeves are really a far cry from the uniform it's referencing, but what can you do?

  30. The Cubs have been trying to backdoor their way into navy blue merchandise for like 20 years. They had navy/royal/red BP gear for a while as a way to justify selling navy hats. It looked like crap.

  35. Doesn't Sacramento have good fan support, too? So does Minnesota. It is 100% because of money and money alone. If Orlando couldn't pay the expansion fee, no amount of fan support can make up for that. It's why Sacramento lost out even after the MLS accepted their bid, and it's why Minnesota was able to make it into the MLS. The money talks.

  36. There’s something oddly encouraging about the Jazz missing 20 straight shots in the first half, and still winning by 3. It was ugly, but I’ll take it! Not trying to get ahead of myself, but getting up 1-0 without Conley and (hopefully) getting the ugly game out of the way against a very talented team is something I feel good about.

  37. but that's not even the problem here. There are plenty of available numbers, he simply wanted one that was retired. The solution to placating immature players isn't to stop honoring the truly great ones.

  38. You’re overthinking it. New Era has been running with the “button matches the crown, not the contrasting brim” style for years now. Even in throwbacks where that wasn’t the style. They seem to want to make it their trademark. Which kinda fits with this Nike experiment.

  40. Not quite. The South Side doesn't start till Roosevelt if we're being generous and the East Side is all the way down by Hammond. It's a real neighborhood insofar as any neighborhood is real, but it's not one of the official 77 "community areas" of Chicago, which aren't governmental units but exist for demographic research and such. It's part of Lake View, as is Boystown (which we're supposed to call Northalsted now to be inclusive but no one does unless they're paid to). Anyway, I hate these uniforms. They're hideous. They're worse than what the Sox have. These may replace the orange Bears alternate as the "keep an eye on this guy, he's about to do something really dumb" jersey.

  42. Total fiasco. --- What comes to the Jazz identity, I never cared for the note look and it's the representative of total "whatever" in the NBA. Not poor quality like the Nets or Thunder, but as uninspiring as they come. Unlike the Mountain era, which had strong personality. FWIW, their sleeved jersey was one of the very few exceptions that was interesting and really worked.

  43. Next up, the Cowboys. Very little change to the basic white uniform, but everything else gets a makeover. Every time I post a uniform like this someone chimes in with "I like Dallas better in navy and silver", and while everyone is entitled to their opinion (theoretically) that opinion is nonsense. There are dozens of teams across sports wearing navy and silver, but only one team in royal blue and metallic blue-silver, and that team needs to own it. Obviously, Dallas needs to unify it's color scheme, but these colors are clearly superior IMO. Thanks to the fabulous one-helmet-rule still being in place (at least currently, fingers crossed) the throwback is technically a faux-back, but since the one-helmet-rule is more important than accurate throwbacks, I'm OK with that.

  44. NHL 21's custom team builder has taken bunny hops in the last few iterations, but still lacks in many areas. But it does help launchpad a designer, like myself, when coming up with new teams, case in point, my take on the then unnamed Seattle NHL team, which I took in the direction of the Seattle Pilots. I gave Orlando the nod because 1: They're my current NHL 21 expansion franchise, thus halfway designed already & 2: They were a geographical fit. What comes out of an aborted, but not abandoned rebrand for UCF from the 1972 Project, was a dumb but also kinda fun idea for Florida's 3rd NHL entry. With the entendre of the name in place, comes with some influence from NASA, particularly in the wordmark fonts, as well as in the alternate Space Shuttle logo. The asterisk is not a part of the logo, but in fact the logo isn't mine by design. It belongs to Dylan Nowak, which you can see here, but I really didn't have a strong enough logo, and resorted to the team logo I use in game. Home - Away: With the exception of Philly and Edmonton in real life, and Anaheim and Philly in this universe, wearing orange as a primary color, it made logical sense, especially for a team in Florida to go all out on the orange. Two thick stripes on the sleeves and the socks, single stripe on the hem. Citronaut logo on the chest, alt on the shoulders. Alternate: Similar to the home and away jerseys. with two big stripes, this time, spaced out slightly, and running across the chest. Citronauts wordmark in the middle of the stripe, with the Citro logo on the shoulders now. Everything else that was orange now becomes black. No Legacy or RR uniforms for the four expansion teams. C&C welcome! I did say above that for the purposes of this thread, I'm gonna run with the teams I picked out, but I am thinking about another thread for just throwing expansion ideas out there.
