  1. The problem with the Phoenix market that doesn't get mentioned nearly enough... if all the market needed was a great owner to come in on a white horse, you'd think that with the revolving door of owners that the team had and even with the team being sold by the league itself from the clearance rack that somebody with more business acumen than Bob Kazamakis would have put in an offer.  It's not just the market from an infrastructure standpoint.  Nobody wants to buy into it and the only reason Meruelo is still involved at this point is that he needs an anchor for his sports betting grift.

The NCAA-ification of the NFL is a real drag.

And I don't even hate the Texans, especially if they hold tight to actual home and away designations.

But all of these uniform combos and billions of helmets; it cheapens the game to me.

It really is an odd change in a league that treats a helmet as a logo in and of itself (and not just in the Cleveland Browns fashion).

Take 5 minutes and watch this.  You really have to feel for the fans, however many there are.  I know it would be a real gut punch to lose any of my teams (and until shovels go in the ground for the Rays, I could be within 4 years of feeling this way).

It's kind of an apples and oranges situation to other fanbases.  This wasn't a Colts Mayflower truck in the middle of the night thing.  This wasn't even a Thrashers situation.  This was the culmination of a multiple-decades long smoldering dumpster fire where if anyone wasn't ultimately expecting this to be the end result they were inhaling the fumes of that final game Wite Out.

There's different meaning in the 2 logos. The "before" version has him with a barrel, likely filled with rum. He's ready to party! The "after" version shows him with a treasure chest. Not specifically alcohol-related.

You can't blame the Captain.  Alcohol has gotten more expensive over the years.

As a temporary venue sure, with the modifications they’ll make it’ll suffice short term. But it’s not suitable as a long term venue. And without being demolished it can’t be made into a suitable venue.

But again, compared to the Coliseum it’ll feel like playing like PNC Park.

unfortunately, many of those hundreds may not even be given the "opportunity" to uproot their lives.  But it's true that there's marketing staff, accounting, and other full-time jobs that are impacted by any move.  I don't think anyone is celebrating their fate (though I do think that there's people don't even recognize that pro sports is more than just the meatheads wearing the uniforms.)

With all due respect to the FTEs that are impacted by this, I'm not sure that it's possible for the average person - myself included - to view this from any other lense than that of a fan who is tired of the whole league being brought down by this complete joke of a franchise that's been sucking money and resources from taxpayers for a decade (or decades).

Taking a job with an unestablished pro-sports franchise comes with risk.  It sucks for the IT guy, but they bet on black and the ball landed on red.

Considering that the Athletic was reporting on the $#!+ show that is the Coyotes front office three years ago, employees should have seen this coming for a long time and had their resumés updated.

Ohtani’s Former Interpreter Is Said to Be Negotiating a Guilty Plea

    Quote

A guilty plea from Mizuhara before a federal judge — likely to include an admission of a range of facts related to any illegal conduct — could confirm the account that Ohtani gave to reporters two weeks ago, in which he said he had no knowledge of what happened to the money.

Those briefed on the matter claim that prosecutors have uncovered evidence that Mizuhara may have stolen more money from Ohtani than the $4.5 million he was initially accused of pilfering, the people said. In particular, the authorities think they have evidence that Mizuhara was able to change the settings on Ohtani’s bank account so Ohtani would not receive alerts and confirmations about transactions, the three people said.

Ohtani’s lawyers initially alerted the federal authorities about the alleged theft, and Ohtani pledged publicly to cooperate with the federal investigation and one being conducted by Major League Baseball. According to one of the people briefed on the investigation, the federal authorities interviewed Ohtani in recent weeks to learn more about his relationship with Mizuhara.
