  1. Very nice. I'd love to see these concepts in use after being thoroughly disappointed by the new centennial designs.

The only feature I would update is to move the waist striping all the way to the bottom hem like it was in the old days and have the gold touching the pants.

I'm interested in learning more about the design - 10K or 14K gold, and the weight of the ring and a side by side comparison to their last Super Bowl ring to see how much larger their latest ring is.  Camera angles can distort the true size differences as rings towards the background look smaller.  Hopefully we will uncover more details soon.

Page providing some details abouth the new ring:

"Crafted in 10-karat white gold, the ring has a carat weight of 5.1 and features a stone count of more than 280 diamonds, including five marquise-cut diamonds representing the franchise's five Vince Lombardi trophies."

  3. Comparing to Patriots Super Bowl XLIX Ring to their Other Championship Rings

Here are the four New England Patriot Super Bowl rings, shown together courtesy of Jostens, who designed and manufactured each one:

It’s maddening for Championship ring collectors to assemble the important facts about new championship rings. The team and manufacturer release few details such as gold composition (ie 10K, vs. 14K vs. platinum), weight size, total diamond weight, and details about the selected presentation box.

When details are announced or discovered, there’s always omissions of important facts. Examples include if the staff received the same ring players did, and if not, how they differ in size, features, and other details such as a less costly gold-mix and less diamonds. Expanding on the issue of multiple versions, if there’s “B” versions, “C” versions and sometimes “D” versions, each lower tier ring version contains a multitude of less precious metals and diamonds. If so, how much is the drop-off?

Jostens did announce the total carat weight this week. The Super bowl ring consists of 205 diamonds, totaling 4.85 carrots. You can read my earlier blog entries from earlier this week to learn other details I have uncovered about this ring.

What we still don’t know is if the ring is made of 10K, 14K or 18K gold, or dare I say platinum? We also don’t know the weight of the ring.

The ring shown in Jostens' 360 degree video clearly has a 10K stamp inside.

  4. The entire bruins team get their rings tonight

They have followed the trend of plopping the primary logo on top of the Stanley Cup. Still, it is a great sight for sore eyes in

    Boston!

    B's Reveal Championship Ring Details

    Tuesday, 10.04.2011 / 8:50 PM

BOSTON, MA ? On Tuesday, October 4, 2011 the Boston Bruins unveiled their 2011 Stanley Cup Championship rings, created by Jostens.

The Boston Bruins 2011 Stanley Cup ring symbolizes the team's 6th NHL Championship, celebrating each player that participated in the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals and the dramatic game seven victory over the Vancouver Canucks in Vancouver on June 15. The ring also pays tribute to the rich legacy of one of hockey?s ?Original Six? franchises through well-known symbols and events from the team?s history.

The crest of the Boston Bruins 2011 Stanley Cup ring features diamond set images of the iconic Boston Bruins "B" logo and the Stanley Cup, fashioned in brilliant cut custom princess, princess and round diamonds set against a background of 14 kt. white gold. There are six larger round diamonds on the crest of the ring that represent the six Stanley Cups that the Bruins have won. The diamond-covered top of the ring is framed on the left side by ?STANLEY CUP? and on the right side by ?CHAMPIONS? to record the Bruins? 2011 achievement.

One shoulder is personalized with a player?s last name and sweater number against an antique black background. The side includes an image the Bruins secondary ?Bruins Bear? logo which is surrounded by six stones honoring the Bruins as being one of the "Original Six" professional hockey franchises.

The opposite shoulder of each ring features a diamond-studded Stanley Cup framed on top by "2011" in gold and diamonds which represents this year's team and the first Stanley Cup that the Bruins have won under the leadership of the Jacobs family. The years '72, '70, ?41, '39 and '29 also frame the cup and connect this year?s team to the earlier championship teams that helped build the Bruins into one of the most storied franchises.

Intricate and custom engraving on the inside of each ring enhances the distinct and one-of-a-kind design. The playoff slogan that decorated the locker room during the championship run, ?FULL 60+ TO HISTORY?, is on one side while the other shows the National Hockey League shield and the four playoff opponent?s logos and series scores the Bruins won en route to the Stanley Cup.

The 2011 Stanley Cup ring adds to the tremendous championship tradition of the Boston Bruins and will join the team?s earlier championship collections representing the Stanley Cup Champions of 1929, 1939, 1941, 1970 and 1972.

Including all variations of the Stanley Cup Championship ring the Jacobs family purchased and distributed a total of 505 rings.

    Some details here:

What makes the rings unique is that one of the basketballs used during Game 7 of the NBA Finals was cut up and portions of the leather was used on the underside of the ring.

Arasheben, a personal friend of Joey and Jesse Buss -- sons of owner Dr. Jerry Buss -- won the bid to design the Lakers' 2009 championship ring, and he enhanced the 2010 design.

"We put even more diamonds, over three karats," Arasheben said. The ring also features 16 oversized diamonds to represent the 16 titles in franchise history.

Lakers senior vice president of business operations Tim Harris said the two requirements for the ring were that it had to be unmistakable in representing the Lakers brand and it had to be big.

"It has to be big, it has to be large," Harris said of the design instructions.

The ring also features a 3-dimensional sculpture of each player's face, an upgrade from the laser-cut faces on the 2009 rings.

  6. The Phillies received their 2009 National League Championship rings today.

Here is a description of the rings.

    http://www.mcall.com/sports/

Here, courtesy of the Phillies, is everything you might want to know -- except for the price, which a spokeswoman declined to disclose -- about the ring:

-- "National League Champions 2009" is prominently displayed on the top of the 14-carat white gold ring, with two rubies on either side of "League" to signify back-to-back championships. The top of the ring, consistent with the team's 1983 and 1993 National League Championship rings, reflects a baseball diamond with the base paths done in rubies and the bases in diamonds.

-- "The Phillies script logo for the top of the ring was used rather than the club's signature Phillies "P." The ring committee felt that the signature "P" should be reserved for years in which the team wins a world championship.

-- The top of the ring contains two baguette diamonds in the 2009 date to signify the two world championships in the Phillies' history.

-- The right shank, in addition to the player's name and number, also displays overlapping pennants for 2009 and 2008.

-- The left shank reflects the Warren C. Giles National League Championship trophy with the League Championship series result in games won displayed on either side of the trophy -- Phillies 4, Dodgers 1.

-- The Phillies selected Attleboro, Mass., jewelry manufacturer, Masters of Design, as their partner for the designing and manufacturing of the 2009 National League Championship ring. Masters of Design also worked with the Phillies on the 2008 World Championship ring.

-- Nineteen current Phillies players participated in the National League Championship ring ceremony today. Tyler Walker, who now plays for the Washington Nationals, also was on hand for the ceremony. The remaining eligible players will receive their rings from the club in the coming weeks.
