How can any human watch a game like this and prefer that teams wear white on white?

I'd agree this is a great matchup, but if they were in all white it wouldn't be terrible (disregard the 49ers in this photo):

IMO white on white is only bad sans pant stripes and colored socks.  (and for some reason I don't mind Texas Longhorns doing it either-maybe since college players typically show their calves so it doesn't have the leotard look).  Otherwise, I'd probably take "mono white" over "mono anything else" 99% of the time.

  2. I like the work @B-mer did.  Rather than red and black, I wondered how it would look substituting orange and green (like their old third jerseys).cEs583l.png

Maybe the color balance isn't quite right, but IMO they should focus on their more unique colors rather than red and black.

  3. I've always felt like the Pittsburgh Steelers have a helmet finish somewhere between glossy and satin, but I'm not sure I've seen it discussed.  Today's matchup with Baltimore seems to show Pittsburgh's domes aren't quite as glossy:

Forgive me if this has been discussed, but what's the history?  Looking at old photos I'm not sure I can tell the difference, or if / when this changed.  Am I crazy?

  4. I came here knowing everyone would be pissed, and I totally agree.

    1. I just looked through Lions' history on gridiron database and I was surprised how often they DIDNT wear throwbacks on Thanksgiving.

    2. I didn't realize Detroit has 2 pairs of grey pants with different shades.  I wonder if the mono grey wouldn't be SO bad if it matched helmets and had pant stripes.  I guess that defeats purpose of it being dark enough to be a home jersey.

    3.  If Bills, Falcons, and Saints go mono could today be THE ugliest day in NFL history?!

  5. So here are the actual Avalanche jerseys:

I think they are a cool concept but just a bit...off.

    Here was my first attempt:

    Wk0AZep.png

-lowered the "A" off the collar

-made the burgundy portion much lower (the real ones look like Peewee Herman pants)  I wonder if the real one will have burgundy all the way around the back; I'm guessing it'd land in the middle of the back numbers so maybe it's just all blue on the back like the old Sharks jerseys?

-tried to make the white "A" a little less obvious (the burgundy triangle in the middle of the "A" of the real one is a little strange IMO).

-narrowed the horizontal white stripes and made them match on sleeves, body, and socks

    and here's my second version:

    QDnOfzu.png

-raised the burgundy portion on jersey

-tried to make logo look like an avalanche (while still looking like a big white "A"...if anyone wants to tweak it to make it look better be my guest!

    Thoughts?

  6. I personally think this is really unique and could be great, but it's just a little off.  Below I made some tweaks:

-lowered the "A" off the collar

-made the burgundy portion much lower (the real ones look like Peewee Herman pants)  I wonder if the real one will have burgundy all the way around the back; I'm guessing it'd land in the middle of the back numbers so maybe it's just all blue on the back like the old Sharks jerseys?

-tried to make the white "A" a little less obvious (the burgundy triangle in the middle of the "A" of the real one is a little strange IMO).

-narrowed the horizontal white stripes and made them match on sleeves, body, and socks

I also wonder pants/helmets they'll wear.  Notice this seems to be their lighter blue color, so I doubt they'll wear the dark blue equipment they currently wear with the alternates.

  7. Interestingly on social media the response I saw was pretty negative and here it's more balanced.  That's a pretty rare event; usually we're meaner than average ha!  I would bet my life that within the next 24 hours someone on here will make a vastly improved photoshopped variation

  8. P.S. I'm probably in the minority, but I think the "seafoam" has a certain character...in my opinion it's part of the Cowboys' look now.  When they're in silver and navy they're fine, but their real unique look is the seafoam and royal.  So why not embrace it?!

No black, no navy, one "silver".  Wear royal when need be.  Problem solved.

  9. I must be in the minority with the Stars uniform as I feel distracted by the white/breezer color/glove color.  If those were all the same color I think I'd enjoy them much more.  Also, I'm not a fan of the missing "A".  I think the Modano-era logo was superior as the "A" was pretty much there.

But man, just think how poorly they're going to play with all the extra weight from this felt:

  10. Taking the term "clash kit" to a whole new level:

I think it might be palatable if the socks were peach/pink/orange/whatever color that is.  But the neon is just too much IMO.  Also, how many teams are using the gradient in the same style?  Last year Spurs, now Norwich and City.

  11. I'm guessing this is a minority opinion, but I much prefer St. Louis with a single color of blue.

Maybe because I'm a 90s kid I enjoy the red trumpet era- to me this is the point of an alternate jersey.  Maybe it's too obnoxious for 82 games, but every once in a while the music staff and red coloring makes an interesting change of pace.  The dual blue jerseys are just way too... drab?  Especially the homes... then they changed the yellow numbers to white?  No thanks.

It's also weird to me that navy was never used from '67 to '96.  I don't think it ever occurred to me that they started that "two blues" trend, but had no historical precedent (unless I guess 1997 is considered ancient history now!).

This is far and away their best look:
