  1. As do we all. Yes, this is a temporary measure, but still.
  2. The Jets and the AHL have called a press conference for Monday to announce the team name. Possibly Logos and uniforms as well. We all know Moose is the logical and sentimental choice, but Chipman was also bandying about the possibility of Polar Bears when he bought the thrashers. We'll see in a few days.
  3. Congratulations, you no longer have anything in common with Glendale.
  4. Bettman did make a weird comment in Winnipeg re: expansion and alignment, though, along the lines of "if 16-14 worked, so does 17-15." Quebec and Vegas?
  5. As a moderating team, we appreciate what you, the general membership, do in helping to keep the CCSLC a Fun Place On The Internet. HOWEVER. Some of you are abusing the privilege. See a dirty spammer? Report it. See someone post something generally offensively? Report it. Porn? Report it. Politics? Report it. Don't like an opinion? Cope. Want us to fight your battles for you? Cope. Someone posted something in another forum by accident? Cope. We'll get there. Thread dormant for a week? Cope. Get the picture? 99% of what is being reported, we've either seen or will see, or simply doesn't need to be reported. Only something really egregious needs to be reported. Trivial things, personal battles, and ZOMG A POLL IN CONCEPTZ can wait, or be left alone. We'll get to it. The report button is not your birthright. Use it only for good.
  6. It's also a weird little combination of rust belt/midwestern/tourist town. It's a scaled back Duluth, but Canadian.
  7. The Thunder Bay event centre is being scrapped. http://www.cbc.ca/m/news/canada/thunder-bay/thunder-bay-event-centre-plan-scrapped-1.3015219
  8. Vegas is more likely to be admitted the second their arena is ready. A 31 team NHL is right around the corner whether Seattle or Quebec is ready or not.
  9. Winnipeg is waiting for a market that makes sense to present itself.
  10. Because even more than artists, Brandiose are excellent salesmen. Hucksters, if you will. They do such a good job at selling their hackneyed designs that I don't think the teams know what hit them afterwards. It's like showing up to buy a pre-owned, grey 2007 Corolla and leaving the lot with a hot pink 2016 Hummer H2. Somewhere along the line, someone with a gift for gab convinced you that what you wanted wasn't really what you wanted, and that you needed something else. That's where they truly excel.
  11. With the massive support that junior hockey has in Regina and Saskatoon, as well as the D-1 programs in Grand Forks and Fargo, let's just stop throwing those towns out there as potential landing spots for the MooseCaps. At this stage, Winnipeg and Hamilton are the cities that make the most sense.
  12. I will also waste a new post by once again stating the case for Winnipeg entering into an operating agreement with Rapid City, which would function as their AA affiliate. I can't stress enough how much sense this makes for the Jets
  13. Technically Hamilton has what they claim is an airport, but considering you have to walk onto the tarmac to board a plane, it's more of a fancy bus depot without all the high-falutin' bus depot amenities.
  14. If the Moose come back, I'd love to see them use the Jets template, with double green replacing the blues and copper in place of the silver.
  15. I'd wager they already have full graphics and uniform packages ready to go for the eventual winner. In other words, a coke-fueled long weekend gave us this list and concepts for each name on it.
  16. Funny story. The guy who has the radio show that John Tory was talking to, Fearless Fred? He's a Winnipeg boy. Back in the day, I used to hang out with a few radio guys, and he was an intern at the rock station. One of the DJ and I were working on a musical project, and he was totally impressed that I played bass, and hung around me like a puppy for weeks, asking me to give him lessons. He's come a long way. Good to see.
  17. The Kings spent more time on that new Reign logo than they ever have on player development, and if that logo took an afternoon then someone had a nap halfway through.
  18. They can't add ONE MORE HOME AND HOME to the Special Pacifics? Good god, j'all
  19. When you think, "who is the face of a franchise that is underperforming without having any real expectations," it's Scott Gomez.
  20. I can see the Jets setting up or buying out Rapid City or possibly Wichita, depending on which one is easier to fly players in and out of. Then again, if the AAA team is Thunder Bay or St John's, it really doesn't matter, ain't nobody getting anywhere in less than 36 hours. There's no way they can keep sharing Manchester with the Kings, right? Right? Right?
  21. Thunder Bay is well served by Toronto, Winnipeg, and Montreal. Getting to and from isn't such a big deal. The deal is, are they building that new arena or not? If not, then its time to go to plan b and bb, which is Winnipeg then who the hell knows. I don't think the Blades or the city of saskatoon are in a hurry to vacate for the purposes of the single engine Jets, and there aren't a lot of Midwestern markets that aren't being served by the USHL that might be willing to accommodate another AHL team. Another vacated AHL market, perhaps Utica (should Vancouver move the Comets to Abbotsford) could work temporarily, but it's really time for the Jets to figure out where their players are gonna be come 2016.
  22. Last I heard, they're guaranteed one more season in St John's, then they'll probably co-habitate in the MTS Centre for as long as it takes for Thunder Bay, Saskatoon, or an underserved US Midwestern market to emerge as a potential home. There's really nothing keeping them from dropping the Moose or Jets 2.1 into one of the New England towns that are being abandoned, but I think they want to keep prospects reasonably close to home, and honestly, Stoon or T'under Bay are the best choices here. The trick is, where they're gonna dump their ECHL guys. They had an operating agreement with the Kings to put guys in Ontario, but with the Reign bumping up then that's obviously dead. Maybe this is the year they get Rapid City into the mix. Which would make for some potentially fun naming conventions. We could have Rush- ??? - Jets, with Moose being the odd man out. All things considered, maybe the AHL affiliate will be the Thunder Bay Bush Pilots which would be both geographically accurate and kinda awesome.
