  1. So with the giants now using throwback helmets with the color rush whites, does that give them two throwbacks or one throwback and one color rush (since they use white socks like SF does with theirs) my head hurts
  2. I’m sure if you read more into the uni reveal, it has some crap about having that dawg in you or unleashed a beast or some garbage. Just be thankful McDonalds sponsored the post because you would have never known…
  3. NFL - socks MLB - socks, shoes, batting gloves, body armor, arm sleeves, pant length, belts. Totally (and unfortunately) agree.
  4. I agree 100% especially because they already have their base set in black and chose not to wear their red alternate and have already used the current throwback multiple seasons. Throwbacks, imo, get tired when worn year after year (unless like a team like the bucs have really only one era to use). If you need a throwback multiple years and 3/8 home games, maybe it shouldn’t be a throwback
  5. Has a college team ever had a throwback/fauxback/alternate to an old pro team? To me, it’s a very sharp uniform, but the team wearing it is a head scratcher…especially with the titans throwback and the possibility of the Texans exploring that or a similar scheme. So, and this is probably gonna be unpopular here, but for me, I’d say cool uniforms, wrong team wearing it.
  6. How many times did the jets wear green last year? They are probably last years cause they are in pristine shape still and will get worn the same amount this year. Plus isn’t the color green Nikes kryptonite?
  7. The nfl might as well get it over with now and each team is all white head to toe, all black head to toe, and their alternate is their team color head to toe. I mean that seems to be where it goes for every successful bucs/browns you get a commanders/cardinals and other teams long for it (lions, jets, falcons, panthers etc)
  8. Re: Pirates sleeve patch. I watch these losers all the time and never noticed. I wish they’d slap the yellow bandanna on all of them rather than reverting to the red one which is a logo from when they dabbled in having red as a color. Funny thing was the yellow bandanna pirate first made an appearance on those ugly turn ahead the clock jerseys. My bet being is it has to do with eventually having an ad and having to switch multiple patches on jerseys.
  9. The rays don’t have a CC and had to drop gray to keep the Devil rays for Friday games…so I don’t get this whole deal. I’ll bet Philly slides cause of the powder blue hype and Star guys like Harper selling jerseys. I’ll bet deep down they told a team like Tampa to get rid of the one that has the least sales (which I imagine is road gray).
  10. I am curious as well. Also, red, white, blue, gray, and powder blue doesn’t add up to 4+1CC. Am I missing something?
  11. I don’t want the changes thread to spin off into a fanatics ruined gear thread, but just to add a few quick comments…they are calling all these alternates “special event items” so no type of coupons or lids passes work on them. I have yet to see any in authentic for sale. Heck, this was the first year I saw a bucs pewter authentic for sale. It was a customizable one for $370.
  12. As a canes fan, I’m excited if they scrap adidas because I am not a fan of their merchandise or designs. It took almost the length of the contract to get a normal uniform again. Even their alts were terribly done (silver/white and silver/black). The fear I have is no matter who takes over, they might depart from the modern classic look just to be different. I can’t imagine having the same uniform with just a different makers mark. Also, 2014 was the last (one year redesign) from Nike. I believe adidas was a 10 year deal. Is it worth all the legal headaches for one year?
  13. My .02 on everything throwback past two weeks. Bucs-cool for a game and nostalgia, but inferior to red/pewter (which I’m sure they’ve been red longer than orange). Seahawks-nice pop with those colors, but jersey is kinda plain and has logos on sleeve which some people find redundant. I’m ok with it. Cool for a game. Titans-I don’t get the super love for the uniform or name. I think they did it to cash in on Houston exploring that color scheme. They literally had that name and uniform and chose to wear white all the time and drop the name. I think they benefit from the titans being a bottom 30 uniform look. Jets - this feels out of place. Would have been better throwback if they still had the old uniforms. Their current set feels to me that it’s a modern version of these anyway. Now you have a throwback that’s better than the set it seems modeled after. Also, with it being white and how often they neglect green over white, they are playing as if they are a white team first. Vikings-like the jets, it feels too close to their home uniform, but people like the old school, so I take it or leave it. For me, I’d rather see a purple, possibly white mask on either set. All in all, they are all fairly solid looks for a game or two. Way better than wearing mono black or mono white (socks included) that everybody seems to wear now.
  14. us nerds know the history of the white helmet, but will the general fan? I wonder if it’ll be plain with a gray mask or have some striping with a brown or white one? Side note totally unrelated- I went to ysu (Youngstown state) two plus decades ago with that dude. He was some volunteer for them or something way back then. His job turned out to be way cooler than mine. I guess teaching and talking about uniforms isn’t nearly as fun as dressing actual players.
  15. Was wondering…why don’t the blue jays get a Stars and Stripes hat to match the rest of the league ? Before I get “Canada” I was just getting to they are in a U.S. baseball league, their opponent (no matter who) is getting the celebratory gear and it’s not like you have to live there to celebrate. Heck, don’t the warriors (not an nba guy) do like Chinese new years jerseys? I saw their special cap and it looked like the batter man was S&S anyway
  16. I can see that as an intentional “mistake” by Nike so they will talk about it on tv and then again when they get the eventual new ones. Nike had to blah blah blah. They are garbage anyway imo
  17. So…if that was the case, then CR uniforms can have correct contrasting socks?
  18. My word, I gotta find a picture, but the pirates are in action with their CC uniforms and the batting helmet looks like a DIY amateur job. It is half yellow with the giant PGH and the brim and flaps are black.
  19. Can a collector verify if it would be more rare/valuable? While I have you jersey guys attention…if you buy an authentic and the team has a rotating patch cause of an ad, does the sleeve patch come standard or on the sleeve of the player you bought the jersey for?
  20. Man, Nike just keeps mailing it in. PGH in huge letters, wow, you really put thought into that design. How about the hat/jersey sublimation? Looks like some knockoff Louis Vuitton or some hat of the month from lids collection. From afar, I like the colors, but this is just a generic throw/fauxback like the Atlanta “the A” uniforms. Don’t even get me going on the font. I guess it’s better than being modeled our yellow/blue license plates and at least in team colors.
  21. well, the obvious reason for multiple hats and jerseys are for merchandise purposes, but I can picture a big conference call where owners and companies are complaining that “if you wear the regular uniforms, the quickcrete guy gets more exposure cause more braves made it” I’m curious to see the game uniforms cause it’s listed as a mint color and both leagues are using the same cap.
  22. Not what I want, but I could see the nfl relaxing the helmet rules. They already relaxed socks by not enforcing length, then even further by allowing all white. They relaxed the number system and went one step further this year with 0. I just don’t think they’d care enough to continue to police helmets with this particular jersey. They know a team like the raiders won’t be in white this week, silver next, and black the following week. I don’t see them caring the jets are black today, green next week or white. Heck, one of the most identifiable teams by helmet is the Cowboys and they wore 4 iirc last year (regular, red/white/blue stripe, throwback white, color rush white). Yeah, it was really two and only worn as delegated, but it’s still 1/4 of the season.
  23. I never get why teams wear alternate or specialty jerseys on a league wide theme. I mean the whole Boston CC mess today is my point. Side note: I hate the CC program, but this one bothers me the most for some reason. Another side note: I’d love to find someone who never watched sports and show them the Sox CC and the football giants roads and ask them to point to “big blue” and the “Red Sox” also, the pirates put out another CC teaser apparently it’s not a Y but it’s the three rivers. Also, the Y is upside down in the video.
  24. While we’re being buc-jacked, I’ll add some more of my .02. The pewter jersey’s problems are the lack of black and orange trim for the cohesion of the entire set. Not saying it’ll look better, but it’s not just a recolor of the other jerseys. (Not even mentioning the second pewter pants). If they had that, they could just use the regular pants…I’d like to see pewter over white tbh. maybe this is just folklore, but I remember being a young kid and hearing a story of the last game of the season in orange and they were actually going to wear orange/orange but Hardy Nickerson shot that down so they just wore orange/white. Granted this was the 90s with no internet, no message boards, no social media, and color mono wasn’t really a thing. Does anyone have any info or hear anything similar? why I don’t think it’s a white throwback is everything is being hyped as return of the creamsicle and not just return of bucco Bruce. That jersey is immediately recognizable for nostalgia and for your wallet.
  25. Lifelong buc fan here, the white bucco Bruce had 2 big problems for me 1) red numbers 2) orange pants with orange socks. Plus they were over worn. The one game in orange is nice for nostalgia and that’s it. This creates an additional issue, this plus the pewter jersey takes even more games away from the red…which is worn red/white. Red/pewter is the default home uniform and seem to be used 2x per year. What David is probably referring to is adding fire to the uniform by having white socks, purple shoes or whatever travesty a player is feeling like doing nowadays.
