i’ll reserve all judgment until i see the full look (and then see it on the field), but i’m not going to lie: if it looks like the NYC version, it might be kind of good?

hmmmm. the fact that the cap is a subway token design is intriguing since we know they're going purple in a nod to the 7 train. but the bridge being in the official teaser matching the first cap leak leads me to lean toward the first one being legit. i don't know. this one i wouldn't hate. but i'm skeptical.

if the mets use the new york city script, it could be decent. i just don't like the tone they're setting with that bridge embroidery on the cap. borders on gas station cap design.

by visibility, they mean on merchandising, because why do you need more brand visibility on a product that you're already watching. nevermind the fact that the batterman wasn't even in that spot until the year 2000.

not going to lie, even with all the pearl clutching about the nike template, i kinda figured it wouldn’t matter once i turned on the tv. of course us uni nerds would care, but i figured the jerseys would be close enough that most people would just forget about it. watched the mets today and my goodness these jerseys look like absolute dog. it’s abysmal. i don’t understand how they figured these player names would be okay.

everyone keeps saying the jerseys look like knockoffs, but i think they look more like youth replicas.

a thought randomly occurred to me over the weekend: you think the mets changed their black uniform because they (team or nike or both) knew that a tri-color with dropshadow name and number would look horrible in the smaller font size? may have just been to sell a new batch of jerseys, but it could explain the change.

yeah, IMO, i think they really only wore the black pants with the previous set of white jerseys to give the players some say in not looking as terrible. don't think they'd do that again anytime soon. i know paul at uni watch always talks about "coke" vs. "pepsi" teams. jets just re-entered the coke realm. hope they never leave again.

that's a great mockup set by jake. hopefully the black unis A) look like that, and B ) have contrasting socks. i have my doubts on both, but we'll see. after 18 years on this board, it's clear that this jets move will follow the usual patterns of nitpicks, discussions of different jets looks that specific people would prefer they went back to, concepts about how they could modernize it (always with a weak-looking logo that incorporates a jet), etc. and we should, because we're logo and uniform lovers and that's what we do. but let's be honest: the jets are going to look like a football team again. whatever jets uniform you prefer, this is a MAJOR win for both us jets fans and the general aesthetics of the game.

wouldn’t shock me to see the mets put out two versions: one that’s blue dominant, one black. have zero insight on that. still super weird it’s the only one that hasn’t leaked.

the breezers and helmet thing may be where lou does his lou thing and they just do something traditional. i'm an islanders die-hard, and i get where we sort of stack up in terms of legacy franchises and national attention, so it's really disappointing to see the half-assed effort both stadium series designs have gotten. it's probably the closest thing we'll get to a winter classic, and the uniforms are always abysmal. unbelievable that this franchise just can't hit on an alternate jersey.

i, too, am not a fan of the islanders stadium series jersey, but let's not pretend that their first black alternate wasn't the worst jersey in franchise history (and among the worst in NHL history).

i'd love green pants for the sack exchange roads, but honestly? i'd be okay without them just to avoid the chance that they'd go green-over-green.

bingo. if you could assure me the 1998 version of the modern namath era could return, i'd be into it. but we'll never get that again, so c'est la vie.

i dunno, man. i just feel like this was a cool direction to take that jersey. it'll read fine on TV with better resolutions than they had back when they first introduced it in 1999, and i feel like it needed to be spruced up. think it's going to look good on-field.

on namath era vs. sacks exchange: to me, the namath era was the perfect '60's uniform. but with the modern tailoring, i don't think any ucla striping looks good. while i'd gladly take the namath era (only in kelly green) as their alternate uniform, i think the sacks exchange is superior, especially for the year 2024. it can't be ignored that, in my opinion, the '80's era jets logo is the only good logo they've ever had. perfect scenario to me is: NYSE era in green over white as primary home NYSE era in white over white as primary road (both paired with current green helmet with the 80's logo) namath era in kelly green as their alternate (paired with an alternate white shell and the namath-era throwback logo) NYSE era in white over white (paired with the alternate white shell with the '80's logo rendered in metallic green)

i know i had brought up the jets a couple of weeks ago. currently, all jets jerseys in the current design are on sale on NFL Shop and Jets Shop. the legacy jerseys are not...

i was at one of my local DSG on friday, this is the mets replica in the new template. first impressions: it's nice to have the front number and the sleeve patch. in-person, the smaller rear number/name makes it look like a youth jersey from behind. $175 retail. also, to add fuel to the "mets are updating the black jersey" fire: multiple players in pinstripes in the new template. only black jerseys they had were the old template (obviously leftovers from last season).
