The Browns . . . don't? They wear brown facemasks, and their alternate/throwback facemasks are white.

Currently they don't but probably like 75% of this userbase on CCSLF wish they wore grey like the good ol' days....

Wearing black equipment with a uniform that doesn't have any black in it looks amateur. It's like seeing a minor hockey team where every kid just has basic black pants regardless of what colour their jersey is. If the Red Wings or Canadiens started wearing black pants would that not clash with their uniforms?

If they were going to keep the black equipment, it would have worked better if they eliminated silver altogether, like they did with this alternate.

If this is your belief I certainly hope you a against teams like the Cleveland Brown in the NFL wearing grey facemasks!!!

I don't think yellow shoulders are necessarily the make or break factor, there just needs to be yellow somewhere. It could be in the socks -- this is my favorite Bruins look:

This uniform, with shoulder yoke and current primary logos, with last years shoulder crests...  PERFECTION!!!  Oh, and all in a dark brown, not black!  PERFECTION!!!

See, now this guy's talking sense.

Those uniforms were the finest in team history, at least so far. You don't always have to start from scratch. A great uniform is honed over the decades and such. That's how you eventually get the timeless classics we all know & love.

I hated the addition of white to that uniform.  it destroyed the coolness that the white and black jerseys had the exact same striping pattern, only the main body colour changed...

So the Chiefs uniform "thrives in its simplicity", by using basic yellow & white stripes on a red jersey + block numbers, but the Flames uniform is boring & generic? I understand people here are going to have differing opinions, but it just seems like you're contradicting yourself here.

Also, what exactly did black bring to the table for the North Stars? This wasn't a Los Angeles Kings situation where they rebranded around black-focused uniforms. They literally just took their home jersey and added a couple black stripes & some outlines to the logo & numbers. They didn't even bother making the green uniform match until 7 years later. That's about as BFBS as it gets.

Btw, when I first posted the report about the Wild I mentioned that I want them to keep their current colour scheme, so I'm not saying that everyone needs to go back to the '60s.

The Chiefs are bad example of anything...  From the neck up they are a red, white and black team.  From the neck down they are a red, white and yellow team...

It's a fun "what if?" look about the Devils keeping their Scouts/Rockies colours.

But the Devils were red, green, and white for ten years. And have been red, black, and white for thirty years and three Cups.

So it might be too late to decide they're a red, white, blue, and gold team now 😛

Why cant they be a Red, Black, and green team.  Imagine this Reverse Retro with Blue swapped for black and gold swapped for green, maybe a lighter volt/neon green...

According to @AliMurji - his source suggest this is what the Senators Reverse Retro will be.

If so... that's a shame. So boring. I thought their last RR in red was ok but lacked any sense of fun or originality. This one even more so. Not a bad design on its own, just a missed opportunity to maybe use the peace tower script as part of their 30th season... this just feels like their regular home jersey with red sleeves. Woopity doo.

Come on Ottawa!  You botched your "full retro" return.  Now you have botched this.  To be a pallet swap of the original uniform it should be red between the white stripes under the numbers!!!

Well the Leafs have always been a blue & white team, so it isn't really an appropriate comparison.

Tampa wears too much blue, and would benefit from black pants, much like the Sharks.

Incorrect, the Leafs were once a green and white team.  A more appropriate colour for a Maple Leaf.  In the early 2000s they were a blue white and silver team.

Honestly, the teal bucket and gloves work really nicely with the white set...but the home being monoteal just looks ugly, and I don't think mismatching helmet and breezers would look much better for San Jose.

    Like, look at this and tell me it wouldn't easily be an improvement;

Nope, the new look is fine the way it is...  Do the Toronto Maple Leafs wear too much blue?

If they wear the silver pants regularly, it's instantly a top 10 set in the league.

ONLY SILVER!  Get rid of navy pants all together.  I hated them in the Brady era set, I hate them even more being the only option!!!

Yeah that black sweater absolutely :censored:s. Should’ve stayed an alt, though.

I really miss that entire set for the Flyers. Their current look is probably technically more traditional, but it just doesn't quite hit with the same ferocity that the Lindros era set does.

...and what you call the Lindros set was introduced after they ditched the Cooperalls.  It fixed everything wrong with their earlier look.  These current retro jerseys are like "let's just bring back all the crap design elements we fixed in the 80s"

As a very frequent hockey watcher who has been a fan of the sport most of my life, I have also been unable to tell who is who throughout the entire Tampa Bay/Toronto series.

As far as I'm concerned if Tampa Bay just started wearing Black pants and helmet all would be fixed...

I just wanted to show my quick and dirty fix for the Elks’ antler helmets. I know it’s generally bad form to put concepts here but I thought showing the fix would be easier than trying to explain what I would do to the helmets.spacer.png

It’s bigger, outlines and more elk-like and less reindeer-like

Better!  It looks a lot less like the tree branch the Grinch ties onto Max's head...

    ...Don't @ me.

I have no problem with the Robo Penguin logo.  It is a great logo.  It's ONLY sin is it replaced a logo no one had a problem with and had just had massive success.  If the Robo Penguin had come first people would have loved it and been mad at the skating Penguin...

Not sure if it's been brought up, but the Bruins are once again wearing their alternate uniform tonight. It's the fifth time this season. I hope they are not interested in going full-time with it...

I hope not either, I am a lifelong Bruins fan and NOT a fan of these at all!!!

Yes, the Sens & Hawks have some extra colours in their logo, but they still have black & red in there. The gold/green/blue/etc. are there to compliment the primary colour scheme, not compete with it. As for the Panthers, I think the best thing about the reverse retro was that the shade of gold they used actually matched the logo.

The Mighty Ducks logo was missing the team's primary & tertiary colours altogether, on top of including two colours that weren't used anywhere else on the uniform (not counting the brief black equipment period). It felt like the logo & uniform were designed separately, then got thrown together.

The Leafs & Flames flip the logos because the primary one matches the colour of the home jersey. The jade triangle doesn't get lost on an eggplant background the way a red flaming C gets lost on a red background.

This concept shows what I'm thinking of, and imo it looks much more coherent.

    spacer.png

Yes, this is what they need to do.  I might put the webbed "D" inside the oval on the shoulders rather then repeat the same  logo again.  I also think I would stay with the eggplant pants.  Otherwise this combines every era and fixes many mistakes creating one perfect package...

This or nothing.  Stop being stupid, San Jose.  Your Fox Kids Saturday Morning Cartoon shark and forced dabblings of orange have ruined what used to be one of the best looks in hockey.  Right your wrongs, you stupid bastard franchise.

100% correct.  You are a franchise the got i right from day 1, every move you have made since has been downgrade, after downgrade, after downgrade...

Exactly.  It reminds me how it was commonplace for baseball or basketball teams to have their city represented on the road, but at home they sported the teamname/nickname because the home town fans know what city they are in...

The New York Rangers had this concept down too from 1978-87 when the home said RANGERS but the away said NEW YORK.

Well as I like long Bruins fan, I love this idea.  Anything that brings a return of gold socks I'm in favour of...  The biggest loss is the current shoulder patch.  I love how it is a modernization of their original logo.  I also love how the Away emphasizes BOSTON and the home emphasizes BRUINS.
