  1. you may notice the Panthers field markings today look minimal compared to previous games. We had MLS CLT FC (v NYC FC, we won!) yesterday and heavy rain so the grounds crew had to paint the turf for both games Friday in case they couldn’t scrub the soccer markings off overnight Saturday. They did a great job removing the yellow stripes and were able to paint the majority white only NFL markings and end zones. I expect we’ll be back in full color for next home game.
  2. CAR at WAS preseason, w 1st looks at the Commanders on field. meh, it's ok. not a fan of the gradient numbers w the rubbery outline border. the helmets are nice w the satin finish, but looks like different shade of maroon compared to fabric of jerseys. my Panthers paired the blue over gray and while i like the combo, i hate the "new" (3rd year) flat gray putty pants. the sparkle silver pants to match helmet is so much better looking. not sure why we got away from silver pants.
  3. Panthers jersey schedule and notes about alts this year https://www.panthers.com/news/panthers-release-2022-jersey-schedule
  4. i don't think this is correct. blue is still the alt. helmet alt is considered one of the 3 alt uses. Panthers announced the Nov CR Thursday debut for black helmet, and the normal 2 blue jersey games are normally early in the season, so that should be our 3. i can't imagine they drop the black jersey (their best) for blue primaries.
  5. what i like about the new black alt Cards helmet is the gloss black with red metallic flake. The Panthers would have been better with gloss black and a blue metallic flake (think old school Superman comics hair color style). what i dislike about the black for the Cards, is the logo doesn't have strong contrast on the black background. the logo is clearly visible on white. maybe a white outline on the logo for black helmet would help make logo stand out better. i think from a stadium viewing distance, the red on black disappears and all you'll see is the yellow beak and white eye.
  6. check out this facemask he posted on insta a few years ago...
  7. i think the Panthers black helmet alt needs to: -add the silver accents to helmet decals to match shoulder logos... or new CR uni that is just black and process blue. one or the other. -use gloss helmet and gloss decals. matte looks cheap. last thought on the Panthers black helmet alt announcement, its at home Thurs Nov 10 v ATL. ATL will prob go all red color rush pajamas, so i expect a terrible match up for TV aesthetics.
  8. the helmet decals are 2 layer, a base layer and an overlaminate to protect the printed base layer. you can get matte, lustre, glossy, and even a metallic flake finish laminates. i prefer a gloss helmet and gloss decals, but matte finish has a lot of supporters.
  9. this guy gets it. keep it classic Panthers.
  10. meh, Panthers look good as they are. ditch the black pants from the uni sets and keep it classic.
  11. nice red and yellow render! as much as i like it, it goes against my opposition to fellow Panthers fans wanting us to have a black helmet. this cards logo has the nice heavy white border to break up logo from background color vs the Panthers branding guide where the new logo doesn't allow for white borders, and logo disappears into the helmet color (esp when viewed from a distance).
  12. "All right, who used bleach with the 'red' load?" this render is soooo much better. nice solid contrasting dark/light coloring. when will folks understand this...
  13. seeing the clawing panther reminds me to let CC know the logo hosted here has been incorrect for a long time. this is the original clawing Panthers logo https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50995297891_9c00c76f08_o.gif here is my recolor of the body accents and the swishes https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50995297896_75b50dcbaf_o.gif
  14. bring back the Panthers metallic silver pants, not these hideous matte grays.
  15. nice art, great concepts, awesome italic wordmark... but as a local resident the name choices were terrible. the paper has a video here: https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/article248481245.html
  16. Not a fan of the new branding. Maybe it will grow on me after it’s more used. I am a Charlotte native and yes we prefer CLT to CHA. The new wordmark logos look wavy and not aligned to each letter slant. The reverse pickaxe in the lettering and number is a good concept that would work better with a different letter form.
  17. cool! yes, there are whatthefont and whatfontis web pages if you have a good image (or can isolate characters in photoshop and make high contrast). another great tool is 'Find My Font', a desktop app that will query local and online type to find a match. after many years and a good memory you'll start to know many off the top of your head
  18. Agency Black (Italic), year is Bank Gothic
  19. not w illustrator. sign software like flexisign or gerber omega has distort features like this, but not illy. you can set text and apply a warp>arc (or arch depending on the effect you're after) and adjust settings. both will distort your type a little so may need to readjust if it looks too wonky. another way to approach is draw the curve you want and use the 'type on a path' tool (click drag the T toolbar icon to fly out options). once type is set you can use bezier curve handles to tweak the curve/angle you're wanting.
  20. set text. select and use the object>transform>shear settings (shear angle -30deg, vertical, 90deg angle, check the preview. may take a few times to get the angle you want. and it's not a "live effect" so if you're not happy you'll have to go back and redo. play w a few times. the shear transform will distort the text, but it is editable so you can adjust horizontal scale (100% letter width, expand, or condensed text) and play w spacing til you get it the way you want. might be easier to set text after playing w settings, then apply the shear settings you like. nice work on the dribble page!
