  1. gordie nailed it, its Umbrella Type's "Cocktail Shaker" (sold on Veer.com) not sure on the "51 - Pitcher"
  2. scottys, you can (in step 3) move the jersey to the front, then create mask object>clipping mask>make (or [Ctrl+7] ). that way you do not damage/destroy/alter the original logo. masks are not tricky at all. another easy way is to (in step 1 with logos placed correctly), just select the jersey, paste copy to front, then select logos, make mask. this way to don't have to move/line up since it never moves.
  3. it sounds like you may have: a) a large file (embedding linked files?) b ) not enough memory c) not enough hard drive "scratch disk" to complete the save.
  4. agreed. then if you had to remove the unseen clipped paths, you could use the pathfinder>trim to remove the masked areas from your file.
  5. ldswoosh, it sounds like you want to "fit text to path". use the text tool flyout for the tool w the Type on a Path tool. you need to build the curve or circle before you can set text to it. you can freehand pen draw a curved line or do complete circle, (or even use a graphic object) then click path text tool on the baseline you want to use. the baseline will be editable if you need to adjust the curvature or whatnot. if the text is on wrong side of your baseline/curve, drag the ][ from the center of the text selection to move it along the curve or inside/out of the selection.
  6. you're all on it CW what i do is select the two outer colors that you want to recreate the gradient for. then draw a simple box with that gradient color properties for reference. next, combine the original broken parts into single object (pathfinder>add to shape area[alt-click]), and recolor fill with gradient. you may have to adjust the gradient to get it just right. that happens when you have newer versions saved back to older versions, or cross app saves/edits (think Quark to *.eps) *shudders.
  7. the Braves looks like an Eurostyle Bold (modified serifs), not so sure onthe 'Stros #s.
  8. time and patience? those are typically generated by an AutoCAD type program that can export *.dxf (and possibly *.pdfs) you could import into illy based off the actual architectural plans/drawings. otherwise, it's not hard to recreate this look with a base layer as a template for what you want to achieve, and just taking the time to rebuild it.
  9. Never mind. I got the answer I was looking for. and... what was it? inquiring minds want to know.
  10. Shumway, it looks like a (Bauer) Bodoni flavor.
  11. What is the name of the font used in "Rapides", excluding the "R"? try "Impress"
  12. d'oh! i missed the question. i thought he wanted the face of the uniformed player, not the logo. davidson is all on it (and a fine example linked).
  13. read up on "mesh objects". it's tricky, but makes fantastic "realism" results.
  14. ok, without seeing the logo you speak of... (windows illy cs or above) set your text "oilers" in this case in size, font, etc. draw or select object to form text into. move object shape to front (object>arrange>bring to front0 or * Shift+Ctrl+] next, select the object and the text and choose object>envelope distort>make with top object or * Alt+Ctrl+C that will envelope distort the text to the logo the object becomes a live object and any edits to the object will affect the text fill inside, if you need to edit the shape etc. it takes a few tries, but it works. my guess is your oilers logo may have been drawn/created without this type of action. old skool!
  15. not positive, but the Bisons lettering looks more Crillee or Fritz Quadrata than Serpentine (without investigating further than these pics)
  16. carpenter is kinda close http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/dsgnhaus/carpenter/
  17. a mask is the easiest non-destructive way to hide unwanted image area make a new swatch pattern (read the Help or find a illy online tutorial) and mesh away to your hearts content
  18. Yeah it work thanx for the help, Plus does it always go white ( the jersey outline ) or do i have to select the colours before i make the clipping mask ? the outline you use for the mask goes transparent (no color properties) because it is excluding (masking) the areas of the selected graphic outside the selected path. if you need to re-color (the jersey outline), you'd want to make another copy of the jersey for the image fill color.
  19. is it easier to "simplify paths" ?
  20. Thanks very much for the ID. 12 bucks isn't bad for a font, but I think it's overpriced by about $11. That's not the most useful or attractive font on Earth unless your doing an Eagles project or making a sign for the Rennaisance Fair. there's also a freebie version called "Hoffman"
  21. one of the many flavors of "Futura"
  22. Far as I know it should have all the function of the full retail version. correct
