  1. It's too close to the Flames, though! And there are so many teams with a variation on the black /yellow or red / black scheme The Canucks are currently the only team in the league with a blue and green color scheme. Might as well own it. also the stick in rink logo is generic but it has a certain retro charm to it. I think it'd be good as the crest. it reminds me of teams going back to basic retro logos like the Jazz or 76ers. The identities aren't exactly the best you've ever seen, but they are simple and identifiable.
  2. ^yes, an internet petition from 500 sports logo enthusiasts will definitely get a multi billion dollar corporation to change their strict uniform rules within the next 2 weeks. this is going to be a brutal uniform matchup, but i'm just hoping the Falcons change their uniforms next season for the new stadium. if they win, its possible that the team looks at the jerseys as untouchable. Personally I doubt it that will happen, I just don't see how Blank and management don't recognize how dated these uniforms are. They are still associated with the Vick era.... they should have changed them 5 years ago..
  3. Edmonton? Good move. -separates them from the last few years as they start a new era of winning -separates them from the islanders. -they stand to make A LOT of money right now with McDavid. Might as well introduce a new white jersey to sell that matches the orange. They will simply bring back the blue jersey as an alternate when Adidas brings them back in 2018-2019. not a huge deal.
  4. That looks like so much fun. Just playing a little hockey in the snow. Is there anything better? New Leafs unis look VERY Panthers-esque. Can't say I'm a huge fan. Would be better if they kept it more true to a throwback. This just looks like a weird Panthers-Habs-Leafs hybrid. Edit: I like the leafs jersey in the vacuum, I mean it's a nice looking hockey uni, don't get me wrong, but the fact that it comes so soon after the Panthers new look was released, kind of just looks like a repurposing of that template.
  5. Wow, its like someone messed with the colors in photoshop to make it more "washed out" in the first one. I can't say I'm a huge fan of the Islanders unis due to all of the jersey-->pants-->socks striping inconsistencies and a kind of boring outdated logo, But the difference here is just so striking. Royal blue looks great against the white and yellow. The Penguins unis continue to look more beautiful every time that I see them. The way the yellow sleeves look on the white jersey base is so nice, i think it's now one of the best road looks in the league, even with the annoying mismatched sock stripes.
  6. Well, they do have a black alternate jersey. What they should do is take the breezers, helmets, and equipment from that set, and pair it with the blue jerseys and socks from the home set. This would immediately distinguish them from the maple leafs without actually having to rebrand. Surprisingly there is not another team in the league that wears royal blue jerseys with black pants. So they'd have that going for them right off the bat. Then there's the issue of the generic logos, but that's an issue that isn't as easily solved, and it seems like they aren't going to change any time soon considering the team's current success and management's apparent desire to make them look classic like the Red Wings. There seemed to be an initial backlash to Florida's new look around these parts, but I think they are amazing. Totally agree with the above posters commenting on how good the jerseys look with the navy pants and equipment. Excellent color balance.
  7. It's hard to even call it "design taste" at this point. It's just going with what is trendy for recruiting future players and for getting current players pumped. I doubt Petrino is really taking in to mind the aestheic benefits of how the Lousville logo will look as a inverted-color silhouette against red chrome. I thought there was an interesting bit of dialogue in I believe the 2nd episode of the show Last Chance U on Netflix. The offensive coordinator is talking to one of the players, discussing what uniforms they will go with for one of the big games in the series. They both seem to be in agreement that they want to wear the white jerseys with chrome to face their rivals. It was treated more as a reward for the players that 1. they get to wear jerseys with chrome and 2. that they get to have input in choosing what they wear for that game. The players all seemed to love it, but all i could think about the entire time was the terrible too-tight-fitting Adidas jersey cut and how illegible the numbers were. What we see as Gimmicks , the players see as Badass.
  8. colors, yes. uniforms, no. look way too much like the Knicks. The 90s streaking sun unis are much more fun, appropriate, and have some character
  9. The Jekyll and Hyde for Oregon continues. That looks clean. They have had about 3 incredibly beautiful looks this year, and about 3 awful ones, and the good/bad seems to alternate weeks...
  10. Yes agreed, they also happen to look incredibly good in the yellow-purple-yellow, though. A bit better than the white helmets IMO but this is a nice change of pace.
  11. Some of these particular images might not be totally true to the color-- this game was played in a heavy rain storm. The soaking wet fabric gives the bottom two images the illusion that it is a shade of brown-- in the very top image, the helmet and pants look more like the actual shade of maroon.
  12. yes I think it will be a patch on the jerseys, but they also have been using this logo all over the merchandise you can get on the online store. there is actually a really extensive online store for this team already, i was fairly surprised myself at the t-shirt selection especially. may or may not have purchased a couple http://www.roadrunnersgear.com/ The unis are very clean. The copper is a nice touch that separates the overall feel from the Coyotes.
  13. Yeah, tomorrow's game might be the worst color rush yet. I mean Jags-Titans was absolutely hideous..... but at least they wore, y'know, colors. At least they tried. 49ers in all gold vs. Cardinals in all-red (throwbacks, not this piping template) = much more interesting.
  14. Agree with all of you guys ripping the new bucs logo lol, it seems just like such an unneccessary change to make. Old logo was a modern classic. That said, why not throw something positive out there..... i've always LOVED how the facemask looks on the current helmet when combined with the pewter base. not really sure if it's technically considered "chrome", it's like a chrome-satin combo, but it has a finish on it that no other helmet in the league has, and i think it works well with the pewter. The rest of the uniform is a trainwreck, unfortunately.
  15. We'll see. I think the coyotes will surprise some people this year. Tippett was an assistant for Team North America and seems to have started to let the young guys open up the rink with some more creative and skilled play. but yeah the Central is stacked. Either way. Winning is the best marketing. That's why i personally don't really care what they do with these letters and Coyotes 2.0 and such. no matter how they position it, people aren't going to forget about the past 19 years of mediocrity, especially the past decade of drama. the ownership is looking for a fresh start with the whole marketing thing, and if the team becomes good in the next year or two, then it really will be a fresh start overall, not just "all talk". with our pipeline of talent i.e. Domi Duclair Strome Dvorak Chycrun Fischer Crouse Deangelo i really think the future is bright. If they continue to lose, they will look very very stupid. it's bold.
  16. should be a better on-ice product this year, at least. a lot of exciting young skilled guys. I don't really care about the marketing strategy as long as the team is winning, which ultimately is what people's butts in the seats in the valley. probably will be the best on-ice product since 2012 WCF year. also the commercials they are releasing with Doan, Domi, etc are pretty cool, IMO
  17. It does really resemble Navy's look when they wore the custom-painted helmets with battleships on them, though. The dark blue ones with dark grey trim and yellow piping. edit: edit 2: oregon also just kind of looks like west virginia, lol.
  18. Hah i agree with most of your posts, but gotta disagree strongly here. navy/black is an awful combination IMO and this uni manages to muddle Oregon's brand even more, which i didn't even think was possible. black leotard bottom + navy tops = bad news. looks like a laundry mistake or something.
  19. ASU's current football uniforms basically demonstrate that. Pick one of black or navy. it doesn't really matter pick which one. But they can have 1 out of the 2, not both.
  20. Holy :censored: unc looks beautiful. This combo, combine with the blue helmet - blue jersey - white pants look, gives them some amazing options. Considering how they looked a couple of years ago after for some inexplicable reason they added black, i really think they went from having one of the worst looks in the country to one of the best.
  21. yeah i do agree with you, this is such a beautiful look: I love the way that looks. If they put those stripes on the arms of the current unis, change the current number font outlines to a thicker orange stroke, and made the striping on the pants/helmet all match, i'd probably be on board.
  22. Is it just me, or is the Dolphin's CR one of the best this year? The way the teal looks sandwiched between the navy striping and orange base just looks awesome. It's amazing how much a difference a splash of color makes for this particular team. I find their all-white look to be one of the most boring unis in the league, but then when you add teal pants to that white jersey, it becomes SO much better.
  23. Yes, the Senators have a really rough identity right now. they look too much like so many other teams. if they add more black, they are basically the Devils. If they add more red, they are basically the Hurricanes. Then there's still the Blackhawks, the "originators" of the black helmet - red jersey - black shorts combo. And don't forget Calgary, which really should just be all-red with yellow accents, but hasn't quite gotten the memo yet. The Sens' original 90s look was beautiful and worked well for them. They aren't perfect (numbers weird overlap with sleeve stripes, the current side-view logo is better), but they have a bit more life.
  24. Wow. Good call-- Had not noticed that. Personally, I like the white pants with the grey inner stripes because of the way that tiny bit of grey pairs with the facemask color. Take those pants, make matching grey ones so that the striping is now exactly the same. Maybe put red sleeve cuffs/collar on the blue jersey, and blue numbers on the white jersey? I'm with you, though-- it's always bothered me a bit that the current white Giants jerseys don't have any blue to speak of.
  25. This is a really nice look actually. Loooooove that helmet. If you pair this jersey and helmet with the matching apple green pants with one yellow stripe, it's great for the road. For a home uni, use apple green jerseys with yellow numbers and black outline. those could be worn with yellow or white pants, with green stripe. That is a beautiful look for oregon. unfortunately they typically take it 5 steps farther, and end up with some overdesigned mess with zombie duck heads, wordmarks on the pants, and other shenanigans.
