  1. There has to be a way for a logical auto-posting of stories from the Mothership. Right now there are two posts in Sports Logos regarding the Sharks new jersey. There is one for the leak and one for the reveal. I realize why there are 2 but having them separate divides the discussion (not to mention that talk is also happening in the NHL 2018-19 thread). Is there a way to not post every logo story to the boards or a way to auto-merge similar topics?

So I happened to be on the London Knights Twitter page today and stumbled across this tweet, in reference to the Spider Knight jerseys from the mid-90's:

I might be reading too much into this, but it would be fantastic if they brought back that glorious abomination in some way (unless it's a screen print jersey). Even if they just sold it in the store like Guelph did with their 90's jerseys, they would make a killing on those from collectors such as myself.

I think the days of stitched one-offs are over (save for the Memorial Cup hosts tribute jersey). If it isn't a full alternate jersey, teams don't want to spend for (or CCM can't make) non-sublimated special occasion jerseys. It's too bad, too, because in jersey auctions it seems people will pay more for a real jersey. An extra $100-200 spent could see the team get that back 4x-5x when sold.

It's here in the Forum Policies and Announcements subforum:

Right, I see that. I'm guessing I parsed the sentence incorrectly. It's not the submitted appeal application that is readable by all but rather the application itself. The way I read it, the completed applications would be viewable by board members.

Any teams that may have a rebrand soon. I don't know of any relocations or anything like that but wondering if any teams are due for a permanant jersey change or colour scheme change such as Kootenay and Everett did

Pretty sure Everett said those "E" jerseys were a one-season deal and would be returning to their previous jerseys for the 2018-19 season.

  5. Every hockey game I've ever been to has done that. When I was in Everett last Saturday a bunch of us were standing at the top of the stairs waiting for play to stop and big ol doofus I don't know anything comes strolling by, through all of us, and walks down the stairs to his seat.

"yeah we're all just choosing to stand up here, pal"

Going to Everett was your first mistake...

  6. This is like the 5th time this week that someone has made an account just to say "i joined just so I can say these are awesome". While I am all for new members, is there any way that on the screen when people create an account can it say in big bold letters "PLEASE REFRAIN FROM POSTING ON THREADS THAT HAVE BEEN INACTIVE FOR 6 MONTHS OR LONGER" or something along those lines?

Well, members and mods who know better comment on the thread resurrection and move the topic back to the top of the page again. They will fall off if people stopped trying to show off and point out the history of the thread.

Yes, if you see a thread that's been dormant for a while and bumped, just report the post and we'll get it taken care of.

    .

I understand that, but at that point, the damage has been done.

What damage? You click on it, you see nothing is new, you go back to the forum.

  8. It's just as annoying to scroll past these "MOD EDIT" posts as it was to see all those Cardinals rings.

Question, mods: Would it be possible to instead just delete bad posts instead of simply editing out all the text?
It's possible, but it's actually the worse option, in my opinion. Transparency is key, and just suddenly having a bunch of posts deleted with no explanation isn't in line with that. I'd prefer the "mod edit" route because it allows us to explain why a post was altered or removed. That way there are no questions as to our intent.

Along the same lines, does this software support the leaving of merged title on the forum but showing it was merged somewhere else? I know once or twice I've gone to find something and then later realized that two topics were merged with no sign of that occurring.

  9. I don't feel sorry for him, and I don't think you have to feel sorry for him.

Calling him out for being an idiot isn't baiting, it isn't trolling, nor is it causing trouble.

Never said that it was. In fact, I said that a post that was cool for me was "I can't really feel sorry for the guy because he put himself in a really stupid position." This is exactly what you've just said I wouldn't allow.

The issue comes with comments like "he deserved to die and the Earth is better without him in the gene pool," which is unproductive and over the line. That's got a much greater likelihood of starting trouble and you should be able to recognize that difference. If you can't, I'm sorry.

How does being respectful and productive jibe with an entire thread about earning points based on when someone dies?

  10. The Graveyard is dead. Long live the Graveyard.

The Graveyard should have been a good learning tool. See what ends up there, and learn what NOT to do.

Any thought to just locking threads such that people can see what went wrong/what not to do?

Thing is if we're seeing locked threads here and there, wouldn't that clutter the boards up?

No, because they wouldn't move to the top of the forum because no one could reply to them.

  11. Counterfeit jersey bust. Here's the gist from the article:

Federal agents seized 6,121 bogus National Hockey League and other sportswear items estimated to be worth $723,377 as part of a three-month national anti-counterfeiting investigation dubbed “Operation Team Player.”

In metro Detroit, agents seized unlicensed items worth $32,550, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations unit said in a statement this afternoon.

The operation, billed by the feds as a “crackdown on intellectual property rights,” ended with the NHL’s 2014 Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium on Wednesday. The operation was targeted at unlicensed NHL merchandise.

    http://extramustard.si.com/2014/01/03/nhl-winter-classic-counterfeiting-sting/?eref=sihp

That story would make a pretty sweet buddy cop movie.

You would think in a city like Detroit, cops would be doing something more productive then the "anti-counterfeiting jersey movement". What a joke.

Even if it was the Detroit Police (it wasn't), I think organizations like that are able to deal with crimes on multiple fronts. People getting shot, sure. but someone still needs to hand out parking tickets.
