  1. If anyone checked out today's PTI, in the "Five Good Minutes" segment, as Tony and Mike were coming back from the break, the two were going on about "getting stuffed", and then Tony makes a little slip of sorts, as says "...speaking of getting stuffed, where's Brian Windhorst" Speaking of Tony Kornheiser, he's ending his daily radio show on WTEM in Washington, at the end of the month, and will transition to a podcast starting in September. http://awfulannouncing.com/2016/tony-kornheiser-ending-d-c-radio-show-starting-podcast-in-september.html
  2. Awful Announcing has a breakdown of the upcoming "O.J.: Made in America" multi-part 30 for 30 film, which premieres first on ABC on June 11th before moving to ESPN for the final installments. Besides the obvious stuff, it delves more into O.J.'s life from childhood to USC (plus the goings on in inner-city Los Angeles during that timeframe) to the Bills to his acting career to the murders.
  3. I imagine McDonough will call the bowl games that Tirico did for ESPN, and if he does continue to call college football games, he'll likely work closer to whatever game site is hosting MNF that week.
  4. I see John Skipper taking revisionist history tips from Vince McMahon...I don't think much of Schilling one way or another, but for ESPN to remove the bloody sock storyline from the documentary is WWE levels of pettiness.
  5. To expound it a bit further...I remember listening to Bayless interviewed on the His & Hers podcast a couple years ago, and he was candid about his life away from sports media. For most past, Bayless in real life is an introvert, and he even admitted that his TV persona is completely different from what people see every morning next to Screamin A. and whichever piece of ass that has the (un)fortunate task to play "moderator" between the two. I only catch a few minutes of "First Take" before heading to work; let's just say I don't watch hear to Skip and Screamin A. and whatever convoluted topics they conjure up each morning. I just signed-up for PlayStation Vue last week, and so far, so good...the only glaring omissions from its lineup are the A&E Networks (meh, whatever...the only show I watch between those networks is "Bates Motel") and the Univision networks (which includes the El Rey Network). Beyond that, the channel selection is pretty much most of the channels I normally watch anyway, but all in all, I think it's a good value across the board, especially when you consider what you may already pay for through a traditional TV provider, and for a bunch of channels you could care less about. Of course, it would also be great if they added at least one of the league-owned networks, even if they put them in a separate tier, so long as it's reasonable priced ($5-9 a month), I would have no problem paying a few dollars extra.
  6. Good deal for Tirico...I'm sure they'll also use him on Olympic basketball (backing-up Marv) and whatever other events suit him. With him also getting the NBC TNF package, they're definitely grooming him to take over for Al Michaels when he's ready to step away. Edit: I just saw a blurb via Clay Travis' Twitter that reportedly Brad Nessler may also be on his way out of Bristol, going to CBS to call NFL and college basketball games, and may end up being Verne Lundquist's heir apparent to the SEC football play-by-play chair.
  7. To quote the great Red Forman...Schilling's a
  8. I haven't listened to the Lowe Post in awhile, but given what just happened with Sam Hinkie, I may go back and give it a listen. Meanwhile, Bill Simmons poached someone else from ESPN--David Shoemaker, who covered wrestling for Grantland and co-hosted with Peter Rosenberg their "Cheap Heat" podcast. The Masked Man is on Simmons' most recent episode (posted last night) talking about WrestleMania.
  9. I just came across this today...Twitter (yes, Twitter!) has won the streaming rights to the ten Thursday Night Football games CBS and NBC have rights to. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000650453/article/thursday-night-football-to-be-streamed-live-on-twitter
  10. A bit of news as it pertains to the Dodgers' on-going TV situation...the L.A. Times reported that Time Warner Cable has stopped negotiations with other TV providers for carriage of Sportsnet LA, even though TWC was willing to lower its price to TV providers. Of course, the merger between Charter and Time Warner Cable is still awaiting federal approval, which could really play a role in Sportsnet LA's future. One team RSNs usually don't work, especially a network like Sportsnet LA which only has the Dodgers and nothing else but filler. At least the other TWC sports network here have other live programming surrounding the Lakers year-round.
  11. Take for what it's worth, but one of the representatives from the new Hollywood Park stadium development was on one of the L.A. sports radio shows yesterday, and he said that this new stadium will be built regardless of whether a NFL team comes to town or not. Either this guy really knows something that we don't or they're going to have a white elephant on their hands.
  12. A new stadium as opposed to a 60 92-year old pit, an equally-old suburban renovated pit surrounded by mountains and NIMBYs, and an earthquake damaged converted baseball stadium.Fixed.
  13. I always thought the the "baseball-card" styled retired number banners that the Twins had at the Dome was a nice touch, and it was certainly unique.
  14. Clippers' Pacific Division title banners at their practice facility. Doc and the players refuse to have them at Staples, although they could at least go up where one of the "selfies" are located.
  15. Yeah, I take it with a grain of salt as well, and in fact the writer was just on one of the sports radio stations here in town, pretty much confirming it as rumor.
  16. Bucky Larson, er...Mark Davis is considering moving the Raiders to the NFC if they do decide to move to L.A., according to Bleacher Report... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2224854-insider-buzz-raiders-would-agree-to-nfc-west-move-to-land-los-angeles-stadium#articles/2224854-insider-buzz-raiders-would-agree-to-nfc-west-move-to-land-los-angeles-stadium The only way that may makes some sense is if the Chargers make the move to L.A. also, and some team willing to move to the AFC West to replace the Raiders.
  17. Buffalo got renovations to the stadium. And a new lease that frees up the team to move in 2019-2020, but not before then. Plus, this round of renvoations (like the previous) is suppose to decrease the seating capacity, from its current 73,000-plus to around 67,000 (give or take). Certainly, the decrease in seating may help with the Bills' blackout/attendance issues.
  18. Personally, I think it's a toss up between TD Garden and United Center...all of the banners, for the most part, are clean and simple enough. The Bucks and Marquette re-did their banners at Bradley Center a few years ago, and look better than they did before.
  19. The Hollywood Park redevelopment is suppose to be mixed-use; ironically, about five years ago, at the plot of land that Kroenke just recently bought, they wanted to build a Wal-Mart superstore right on the corner of Pincay Drive and Prairie Avenue, but the Inglewood politicians at the time voted it down. When Churchill Downs bought the Hollywood Park property years before, they sold parcels of land to the east of the main track, most of which became two shopping centers (each on both sides of Century Boulevard, the southern boundary of HP), and a gated townhouse community. With the racetrack being now closed for good, the new redevelopment will be more of the same. It wouldn't surprise me if they go ahead and do what they reported a few months ago if Kroenke can work out something with the current HP owners--the stadium, new NFL Network HQs, shopping center, and new condos/townhomes.
  20. As far as I know, the Rams' following here locally has dissipated each passing year since they left the region years ago. Listening to local sports radio whenever the NFL (the old L.A. Rams teams) is talked about , you have some of the older fans pretty much distancing themselves from the team even when they left Los Angeles for Anaheim in 1980. The Georgia Fronteire regime (at least in the last years of the team in Anaheim) killed any goodwill the team had left. I was never a Rams or Raiders fan when they were here, so there no sort of emotional attachment, and since I'm a Chargers fan, I'm suppose to hate the Raiders anyway.
  21. The Rams used to up until a few years ago; the Raiders and Chargers complained to the NFL, and got the games pulled off of L.A. TV. The Redskins, for one preseason (either '08 or '09), also had their preseason games televised here in L.A.
  22. I have no doubts there, and he should stay in Anaheim.
  23. Agreed! After seeing that Real Sports profile on Chivas USA, it's just a matter of time.
  24. You tell us. Research Ed Roski or Grand Crossing and actually state an opinion. If football doesn't come to Grand Crossing, Arte Moreno and his Halos may in the future.
  25. As a former resident of that particular area of Inglewood, it does intriguing, but it's still the same ol' song. However, I do think that this has a better chance of becoming reality than Farmers Field or the Grand Crossing project in Industry.
