Not sure why we (Chiefs) can't have red endzones for the Super Bowl, we don't really use yellow as a primary color at all.
Personally, I prefer contrasting end zones for things like college bowl games, college conference championships or the Big Game.- 1

Canes modernize old mascot logo
I like it, nice clean up while maintaining the overall integrity of the logo. I hope even more schools embrace their old-school mascot logos.- 10

Purple piping has returned to the LSU home white uniforms. They have been absent from the white uniforms since 2018
While I’m glad the piping has returned, I think it’s took think to use with the font used for “Tigers.” The “G” gets muttled where it intersects with the piping.- 1

I was walking into the Harahan Walmart the other day and a guy gets out of his vehicle in a Hornets pullover with a gold word mark across the chest (can’t remember if it read “New Orleans” or “Hornets” though).
Something similar to this:

I’m truly curious, does anyone like the centered, stacked logo design? I’ve never been a fan.

Well, it's time for Detroit to go traditional. As for Nike, they need to get the silver pants on them, the Cowboys, and the Patriots right. They did the same stuff to them like they did with the Saints!
I just want Nike to get the Saints some metallic/shiny gold pants again that match the helmets (SF too). I’m tired of the khaki pants look.- 1

This one came a bit out of left field -- I don't recall Georgia being part of any rumors I've read over the last few months. At least this press release lists a venue!
Anyone else read that logo as “Georgia G-Force?”- 5

Leicester Wolfpack
Crossing another team off the generic team name list. Leicester City is the foxes, and nearby Wolverhampton is the Wolves. I wanted to use the Wolfpack name, but make them super different from the others. I went with a Washington State inspired color palate. The logo is a fierce modern wolf that has a second wolf in the negative space, inspired by Hofstra's double Lion logo. The pupil on the eye of the logo has cinquefoil to reference back to Leicestershire County.
I’ve always like that Hofstra logo, and I think you’ve paid homage to it very well here. Great execution. -

What if... the Yankees relocated to New Orleans (and changed their name)?
New Orleans pitched the Yanks to move south in the late 70's, but negotiations broke down before they really began. I wasn't forced to settle on a new name for the team, but I suppose "Cajuns" could work.
Actually, "Creoles" would be a much better name for a team located in New Orleans. "Cajuns" are located in other regions of the state Lafayette/Acadiana (which is west of Baton Rouge) and the Bayou Region (southwest of New Orleans, stretching along the coast over to Acadiana).

Nova Southeastern are the reigning D2 men's basketball champions. The Miami Dolphins training facility used to be on their campus as well.
The only school out of these I had heard of before today is Nova Southeastern because I saw some of that DII title game. -
I like the texture, and stacking the text would cover up too much of the orange IMO. I would like to see the text slightly small.

The NCFA-FCS is seeking at least two (2) new members to expand our ranks. Our league is the only CCSLC fantasy league dedicated to NCAA FCS football! Current membership is 8 and our ADs have voted to expand, potentially up to 12 teams. If you're one of many fans of the 130 FCS schools around the nation, this is the league for you. Interested applicants should be CCSLC members for at least 6 months, with at least 500 posts and must be in good standing . If you do not meet the requirements your application cannot be accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS. The application deadline is Friday, August 4 @ 11:59pm EDT. So, if you're interested, don't wait.

The name and logo of Baton Rouge's new hockey team was released yesterday. And both are terrible:
First, the name. Baton Rouge has NOTHING to do with zydeco music; that's really from Cajun country to the west and southwest (Lafayette, New Iberia, Opelousas, Houma, Thibodeaux, etc.)
Second, the logo. Horrendous. I get the "red stick"/Baton Rouge connection; there's a fleur-de-lis thrown in just to be lazy since this is Louisiana, but good night, that Bridge? (the I-10 bridge across the Mississippi River?). HORRIBLY rendered and drawn. And why is there NOTHING at all in this logo relating to Zydeco music? A music note or two, an accordion or a chank-a-chank, something. Shoot, a hockey player playing an accordion would be much better.
Compare to their previous team, the Baton Rouge Kingfish:
Team name was great, with a double meaning (actual kingfish AND nickname of famous Governor Huey P. Long). Had the "red stick" (Baton Rouge) hockey stick. And just a whiff of the bridge and the downtown skyline, including the iconic state capital building.
I’m with you. I hate everything about this brand. Love that minor league hockey is coming back, but they completely mailed-in the branding.

Being in Louisiana, we have our share of LSU knock-offs:
Lutcher High Bulldogs....at least it's not a straight copy.
Thibodaux High Tigers....used to be a direct knock-off until they switched the tiger head from the old LSU one to a logo from a Baton Rouge area brewery.
In the last 2 years, my alma mater Hahnville High added a set of white helmets with a chrome LSU tiger logo. They still have their purple helmets with a gold "H" logo.
Our cross-river arch rivals, Destrehan High (Wildcats) have used an old Washington St logo for as long as I can remember.
The St. Amant Gators used to use recolored Florida Gators logos on their field, scoreboard, helmets and other items. Rumor was that they received a C&D from UF and switched to a different helmet decal. I must say that the gator-print helmet stripe has grown on me too.
Probably my favorite helmets in the state, though, belong to Loyola College Prep out of Shreveport. They Flyers feature a beloved cartoon character on their lids.

By comparison I can only think of a few times where the 180 has stuck:
- Seattle Mariners - They've worn navy, teal, and silver for almost twice as long as blue & yellow. They do have a fauxback alternate, but it doesn't seem like there is a big push for them to go back to the old colours full time
I was watching a Mariners game the other day and was thinking to myself how much I really like their brand. It really holds up well even now. The color scheme is pretty classic now and the primary logo is one of my favorites in the league. I hope it stays around.- 3

Probably the latter and they might target teams in the Lone Star Conference. In that case, they may want to go after West Texas A&M, who just recently opened a brand new on campus football stadium.
That may be the most likely scenario. There were rumblings that the Southland was going to go that route before Lamar came crawling back and UIW flip-flopped. I’m curious, though, as to how many of those schools have the budget necessary to move up to Division I athletics. -

So the WAC lost Lamar today. What is going on with the WAC? Schools keep leaving so quickly but there's been no real reason that I can find. Anyone know what's up?
I think the WAC hung its football aspirations hat on the addition of Sam Houston St and the other Texas schools with the intent to move up to an FBS league in the future. I’d argue that none of the current membership institutions are even close to being ready to make that jump, and once SHSU and NMSU were poached by CUSA many had to rethink the league (I’d argue that SHSU probably isn’t either). Geographically, it’s incredibly wide-spread with a pocket of Texas schools, a pocket of Utah schools and other members spread over 3 other states and extreme southern Texas. The travel costs for these schools had to had significantly jumped.
I suspect that Lamar realized that it was a poor financial decision and that they’d rather cut their losses now rather than carry the burden any further. After Lamar’s decision to go back to the Southland, UIW decided to stay put in a more stable FCS league.

Whats the Municipal Auditorium site like? I know that place has been virtually untouched since Katrina. Could that be an option for a stadium development? Metairie seems out of the way
Out of the way for people living in the city, sure. But I would think a USL club would pull a decent amount of support from Metairie, Kenner, the River Parishes and the Northshore. For those people, a Metairie site is more convenient. It obviously doesn’t have the panache that a downtown stadium would have, but I don’t think that would make it a bad location. I also don’t think the Municipal Auditorium site is big enough to put a stadium. It’s a relatively small space locked in by Congo Square and the Mahalia Jackson theater. You’d have to re-route Basin St maybe through some of the existing surface lots to make it fit, IMO. But you’d also have to fight preservationists that wouldn’t want to see the Municipal torn down. Other than the riverfront, the only other place in the city that I think might be viable would be a lakefront location over by the UNO arena. Two or 3 years ago, I would have said that a location in the city would be fine, maybe even desirable. I’m not intending this to start a political debate/discussion, but I don’t want to go into the city at all right now with the way crime is. Hell, we’re leaving for vacation on Saturday morning and will probably go out of our way to go around the city rather than take I-10/610 through it. I would much rather a suburban site with the current environment.

Which Saints intern is on staff from the Seattle area? They need to be sent back. The only thing worse than their current black leotard set has come to fruition. This screams Arena League.

- Numbers on side of helmet?
- Logo on front or back of helmet?
- Gradient or pattern in numerals?
Boy these organizations sure do like to completely botch things, don’t they?
