  1. The only images I've found of the Rockets wearing those shorts are from that one preseason game vs. Seattle and promo images like the one above. I've found no evidence that they were worn in a regular season game.
  2. The Rockets actually did wear those shorts, albeit in the 1967 preseason only. They were never worn in the regular season.
  3. So the Wolves have had Prince and now Dylan inspired unis? I can't wait for the inevitable Hüsker Dü themed uniforms.
  4. I have quite a few Champion replicas, mostly Euro ones as they're much better quality than the US versions. I mainly collect Sand Knit but the replicas are getting very pricey now, and the authentics even more so. I often find it cheaper to just buy a blank and then customize it myself, got an '86 Bucks home and '90 Timberwolves home (which is silver, not white!) that I need to get around to putting numbers and NoBs on.
  5. Considering Bill was against the Celtics retiring his number, and then insisting on it being done behind closed doors after they were intent on it, I'd hazard a guess and say he wouldn't be a fan of this move.
  6. Not a thrift find as such, but I paid a visit to my favourite vintage shop in Birmingham last week. They normally have a decent selection of US sports jerseys from the big 4 but it's mostly from the last 10-15 years. They had a few Celtics jerseys in stock so I had a browse, not really expecting much. I found this: 1987-88 Sand Knit replica (obviously customized since it has a NoB, which Sand Knit replicas lacked). It was covered in stains and marks, but they came right out after a wash. I've been collecting jerseys for over 25 years and this is maybe the 3rd Sand Knit jersey I've found in the wild over here - after the '87 Whalers jersey I found about 15 years ago it's easily my best find.
  7. The very next season, in fact. The Blazers have played 52 seasons and have worn the sash, or a variation thereof, for 45 of them. I'd argue there isn't a more iconic uniform element in the NBA than Portland's sash.
  8. Technically that was the Hornets' 3rd game of the season - 9th November, 1994. The team had to request permission to wear the road unis at home from both the NBA and the Magic. 2 more occurances - on March 17th 1986 the Jazz wore their old green uniforms at home vs Detroit, who wore their standard blue uniforms. They did the same on March 17th 1987, at vs. the Warriors, who again wore their standard road unis. Here's a pic from the 1986 game:
  9. I've always wanted a Michael Jordan rookie year jersey but prices are way higher than I'm willing to pay for something that's just going in the wardrobe with the rest of my collection. Solution? Blank jersey for £12, pack of vinyl heat transfer sheets (£10 for 10) and a few hours in Photoshop and I've got something I'm pretty damned happy with. The NoB is a little off kilter, but jerseys back then weren't always perfect, so I can live with it.
  10. Get rid of the honeycomb pattern and I'd be 100% in favour of making them our regular unis.
  11. All I care about is that we get rid of the purple "CHA" 3rds. They look horrible and we have an abysmal record wearing them.
  12. We don't have to - just look at when Cardiff City's new owners changed their colour from blue to red, purely to appeal to the Asian market (despite the team being the fricking Bluebirds). Didn't last long.
  13. You realise that's the whole point? It's the NBA's 75th* anniversary, so this years' City unis are mashups of previous sets. *actually 72nd, but that's a whole other topic.
  14. Now that's more promising. Is it wrong that I'm more excited about the Bucks' unis than my own team? That Bulls jersey is nice too, it'd make a nice full-time alternate.
  15. When I was maybe 13 or 14, I tried to recreate Dr. J's 1975-76 Nets home jersey using a white vest and some fabric paint. It didn't go particularly well, and I didn't finish it. I always wanted one, and since throwbacks weren't readily available at the time, I had another attempt a decade or so later. Just a cheap white vest with red & blue felt twill for the details. The name & numbers are heat-pressed on using an adhesive backing and the stripes were sewn (by hand, as I didn't have access to a sewing machine). Cost less than £10 to make and took maybe 6 hours, and it's still holding up despite being almost 20 years old now.
  16. Really like that Nets jersey. Mavs... I like the wordmark and return of green & blue, and the shorts are nice. Everything else is terrible. And what does "MFFL" mean? Muthaf***in' Florida? I was really hoping the Bucks would incorporate the Irish Rainbow into their mashup unis, but they seem intent on ignoring that era and its unis as much as possible.
  17. Yes, but it wasn't always done consistently - sometimes it would be the wrong number, sometimes it would be missing altogether.
  18. That's exactly right, the stadium was extended and rebuilt at several different times, resulting in a rather disjointed aesthetic, although I think that was part of the charm. My grandparents lived about a mile and a half away in Longsight, it was a nice easy walk to the ground. As nice as Etihad is, it'll never feel like Maine Road to me.
  19. I don't know if this counts as it was demolished a long time ago, but here's Maine Road, the beloved former home of Manchester City:
  20. One of my favourite players in my favourite NBA uniform of all time. Beautiful, thanks for posting that.
  21. Nah, those are the right Hawks unis for Mookie. The wrong ones are the '95 set with the gradient and giant hawk. They would be the wrong unis for Kevin Willis - like 'Nique, I always picture him in the Pac-man set.
  22. The Hawks changed to that uniform set for the 1992-93 season, so 'Nique had a season and a half in them. Not that that makes them "right', just saying.
  23. Nah, we'd need a wise-cracking, shades wearing, hi-top sporting dinosaur thrown in the mix for peak 90's.
