  1. For the Islanders' Alternate I have only one thing to say: "We want fish sticks!"

No really, I do want "fish sticks".  The orange jersey looks fine, but in my opinion would be better with the "fish sticks" logo on it.

If you despise the "fish sticks" logo, what about the lighthouse shoulder patch as a main crest?

A bit similar, and also happened in the 1970's with some controversy ;)

  3. My city's (Thunder Bay) flag was adopted in 1972.

They chose to include likely the most iconic symbol from the city's area - the Sleeping Giant - (natural rock formation on nearby Sibley Peninsula).  Right below is a pic I took of it from the city's waterfront on Canada Day a few years back.

    From the city's website:

"The design forms a golden sky from a sun behind the green Sleeping Giant, sitting in the blue waters of Lake Superior. The red maple leaf is the signification of Canada. The green and gold also represent the City's colours."

  4. from Wikipedia - Northwoods League franchises - chart shows present and former team names.

Bismark had five names to choose from: Baldies, Bigfoots, Bullies, Flickertails, Meadowlarks (Larks).

"The Baldies pays homage to Bald Eagles. The Bullies has nothing to do with kids taking your lunch money but rather Theodore Roosevelt’s famous phrase, ‘bully pulpit.’ A flickertail is a squirrel and the Meadowlark is the state bird of North Dakota.  Bigfoot means exactly what you would think. It refers to the furry creature which may or may not be roaming around this planet.  Voting will take place through August 14."

They narrowed it down to three: Larks (Meadowlarks), Bullies, Flickertails.

    Voting is closed.

"The team will unveil the new name, logo, and a few other exciting announcements at their first community event in Bismarck Municipal Ballpark on Thursday, October 13"

Fond du Lac team naming contest appears to be still open.

    Overrated:

    Texas

    California

    Worst State Flags:

The ones that just put a seal or photo with lettering on them such as Washington or Wisconsin or Kentucky.

Generally agree with the best and worst here for state flags of the United States.

For Canadian provincial and territorial flags generally don't care for the ones with the union jack in the upper left corner (Ontario or Manitoba) or with a shield/coat of arms (except for the way Nova Scotia did it).  If I had to choose a best one it would be New Brunswick.

  6. Geographically closest to Minneapolis and Winnipeg for professional teams. Don't dislike their teams but never have been a big fan of either city's teams.

NHL: At one time is was the Flyers because when I started watching as a kid they won the cup. Then it was the Leafs because back then that's about all you could get on t.v. plus my dad is a Leafs fan. Changed to the Sabres and Nordiques sometime in the Ballard era; when the Nordiques moved my alliagiance didn't go with them. Not entirely sure why I chose those 2 teams - likely chose them after watching some games on t.v. plus likely liked the uniforms and logos.

CFL: West - Saskachewan. East - Hamilton. Underdog choices??

MLB: Was the Jays until they lost that series against the Royals in back in 1985. Changed to the Mariners - at least partially because I watched a game or two and saw Buhner and liked him. For the National league was somewhat of an Expos fan. Likely leaning back towards the Jays with Buhner long retired, and Jays easiest games to get on t.v. the rare time I watch.

NFL: No real strong alliagence right now. No one team I particularly cheer for, but there's a few teams that I disliked in my childhood that I stangely have kept the same distaste for after all this time.

U.S. College: Not being from the states and only visiting on rare occassions it's not something that interests me the vast majority of times. If there was some college hockey game/tournament on t.v. would choose the closest to me UMD or as second choice Minnesota to root for.

On the lower level it's the local teams for baseball and hockey - Border Cats of the Northwood League & Lakehead University Thunderwolves.

  7. Keep up the great work... And when you get a chance, I think a KC Scouts update has the potential to be awesome

(If it hasn't been done already... This thread is gettin too big hah)

Chakal (who can be found on The Goalie Store forum site) has his own site - there he has uniforms for his Pro Wrestling/Hockey touring team that have an updated logo of the Scouts.
