  1. I think you could argue though, that more people would be up for going to Indianapolis than Detroit. Just my two cents seeing that the Wolverines don't appear to be headed anywhere near the title game in the next few years. I'm not sure about hotel rooms in Detroit, but Indy regularly hosts big-time events (Drum Corps International, GenCon, Final Fours, NFL Combine, etc.) while I'm not sure what Detroit has. Plus, hosting the game in the city that'll host the Super Bowl 7 weeks later can't be a bad thing for the Big 10. I'll probably be there.
  2. I have one of those. It's awesome and definitely gets more than it's fair share of comments when I wear it.
  3. Can't fault the guy. He just wants to win so badly that it doesn't matter if he's beating the Celtics, the Magic, or the Washington Generals 5,578 times. lol. I thought he was going back to the McD's high school all-american team for a minute... But now I see it's the Globetrotters. But that leads me to ask, why the heck would he join the 'trotters if he backed out of the Dunk Contest? (That's when I initially realized he isn't a genuine person. Anyone who goes against their word, has no class in my book. The way he left C-Land was just further backing up that point. Everything he's said about Cleveland as a team and/or city, I learned to take with a grain of salt...) Sorry about the ranting... Just a Cavaliers fan... No Cleveland fan. haha. FYP. Anyways, that made me literally lol. Nice job.
  4. Boo! Traitor! What a cowardly betrayal! I wonder if the Comic Sans font will be used in the new post-Lebron Cavs word mark Oh and vmd9...SCREW THE ROO!!! Go Flashes!!!!!!!!!!! Screw both of you! Youngstown State FTW! (Oh wait, Kent and Akron both forgot about our rivalries? Damnit.)
  5. Well I'd assume that pretty much everywhere in the western US can fly into SLC, a Delta hub and the same goes for Denver, primarily having United flights.
  6. Makes perfect sense geographically, the pac-10 would get the Las vegas & salt lake markets, and the Big 12 would get the dallas and houston markets Umm... they already have those markets...
  7. They're almost certainly going to go after Utah from what I've heard, giving them the SLC market. If the Big XII wants to go back to 12 teams I could see them going after TCU and BYU.
  8. On the first bolded part, if those 4 schools are still in it, it would be with Baylor. Who TCU would probably screw over, and rightfully so. Plus, nobody making SEC money now would jump to a Big XII without Texas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. Could there still be a conference? Yes, but it would have to come in taking a couple (lesser) Mountain West or C-USA teams. Maybe the likes of Memphis, Houston, Rice, etc. On the second one, Colorado will make a lot more money from the Pac-12 (which it would presumably be in this case) than in the Big 12's form (possibly the Big 8 again) as the money from TV revenue would be more. They'll get more of a piece of the pie from Oregon, USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, etc. on playing football games than from Kansas, K-State, Baylor, Mizzou, and Iowa State. Remember that money is what's driving all of this.
  9. It is now. socioeconomic |ˌsōsēōˌēkəˈnämik; -ekə-| adjective relating to or concerned with the interaction of social and economic factors. DERIVATIVES socioeconomically adverb
  10. I think you're forgetting one thing... more than half the years in this new conference, those are probably not going to be the two best teams. Michigan has to get their act together sooner rather than later for that to be an even halfway compelling match-up. tOSU and Michigan would theoretically win their divisions say, 2 out of 3 years with Wisconsin and Penn State winning in the third year, leaving us with theoretically only one Big Ten Championship every 3 years between tOSU and Michigan. The game would have much greater implications in the last week of the regular season, deciding who goes to the Championship Game. The Big Ten is stupid if they'd split tOSU and Michigan.
  11. Hmmmm. Columbus is the farthest east, so I assume them. But to make the divisions geographically pleasing, the northeast would have to be broken up, and move Buffalo, or Boston into the Atlantic. Wouldn't the Jackets just slide right into the Atlantic Division with Pittsburgh? Makes sense to me.
  12. I know you are an Akron fan, and I am a University at Buffalo fan, but there is no way Akron gets in before Buffalo. UB has more students (28,192 v. 27,380), a larger endowment ($410M v. 133M), in a bigger market size (1,170,111 v. 694,960) and is a member of the AAU, which Akron is not. There are only 3 AAU members that field a FBS football team that are not in a "Big 6" conference Rice, Tulane and UB. The only thing I think Akron has over Buffalo are better athletic facilities, especially the new stadium. That is obviously a major factor, but I think UB would get in before any other MAC school. Yeah seriously vmd9, what the hell are you smoking?
  13. Good luck getting fans in Major League cities to pay Major League ticket prices for a team that for all intents and purposes is considered Minor League. -Dan The only way this works is if say the playoffs consist of 6 "A League" teams and 2 "B League" teams. Which would be stupid for a lot of reasons. Exactly.

  15. HAPPY ELEVENTH BIRTHDAY YOU!!!

CONGRATULATIONS, YOU WIN A FREE INTERNET!!!

  16. Actually, I think several people would think a tournament in flyover country is indeed a step down from playing at MSG. Hey, we're not that bad! EDIT: Also, we get the Final Four once every 5 years is it? MSG is home to the NIT. Talk about big time. Yeah that would be awesome... If the Big Ten tournament was played at Lucas Oil Stadium. Only it's at Conseco. Fair enough. I was talking about the city itself not the venue.

  18. Ah, good point. I know the SEC splits them up so I was forgetting about how the ACC does it.
  19. If it's say Mizzou, then it works perfectly: Illinois Iowa Minnesota Missouri Northwestern Wisconsin Indiana Michigan Michigan State Ohio State Penn State Purdue If it's say Pitt though, it begins to cloud up some more. This is how I would do it to keep the IU/Purdue rivalry together. Also remember that in college basketball, you'd play the teams inside your division twice as opposed to once outside of your division. This is why you cannot split up Michigan and Ohio State (IMO). Illinois Indiana Iowa Minnesota Purdue Wisconsin Michigan Michigan State Northwestern Ohio State Penn State Pittsburgh
  20. The biggest two issues are: 1. You wouldn't play everybody And more importantly: 2. How would you break ties? With a divisional format there's always head-to-head games for tiebreakers and you play the relatively same schedule.
  21. Zing! So if Mizzou continually gets passed over as far as the better bowl games go, they should go to the Big Ten to create more revenue from going to a better bowl game. Also if Mizzou's pissed at the Big 12 and their revenue sharing, then leaving would be a good idea.
  22. If Missouri's rumored complaints are accurate, this is not exactly a huge hit. The two years notice issue is slightly more problematic, but it can be worked around. For all I know, this could be completely wrong, but this is what I have heard in the past.
