  1. The players apparently loathe the guy.
  2. Whatever. He did walk straight into a golden situation thanks to Dungy's hard work. The supposed QB guru just never did develop one his entire time there... And was a complete a-hole. Good for the Bucs - let's hope they promote Morris.
  3. And both would be idiots to take the job. It's just as toxic as Oakland - but at least you can rise again after coaching the Raiders. The Lions kill your career dead-stop. I'm still in utter shock that Martin Mayhew still has a job with the Lions.
  4. Whatever about Fox baseball. It's their NFL studio crew that infuriate me to no end with their stupidity. Howie, JJ, and whoever else they've got on that set make me nauseous.
  5. The idiot writers that abstained from voting in Rickey Henderson? Revoke their privileges immediately, they CLEARLY do not get it. Personality? Abrasiveness? Come on. The writers think they're above the system here - and are putting on a show for no reason.
  6. As a Tampa Bay fan I give a ton of credit, if not all the credit, to Tony Dungy for our Super Bowl 37 win, and was extremely excited to see him finally get one of his own with the Colts in 41. Dungy always seemed like one of the most stand-up guys to ever coach in the NFL, and was an absolutely amazing coach. Hopefully he can get some looks for Canton in the upcoming years. I raise my glass to one of the greatest coaches of my lifetime, hopefully we can get more of guys like Dungy in the upcoming years. How can someone pick their predecessor? As far as I know that's not particularly uncommon. Isn't that what Mike Holmgren is doing as well? I think it's as well a really smart move. predecessor = dude who came before you. Thank you. It's amazing that something that big can slip by an editor. They were probably just in such a rush to be F1RST!!!111!!!~ with the news that they didn't catch it. Well, it is Fox. I don't think they would have caught it if they proofed it twenty times.
  7. Is there any sort of point to this poor-man's Grimace?
  8. Exactly. That's why i've never been a proponent of alternates, thirds, or anything that will take away from the impact of your HOME and ROAD. Keep it simple, lose the extraneous fluff. Works for the Yankees.
  9. I agree 100% the lions need to get rid of the black...NOW and make these they're new uni's w/o the black facemask: blue or grey facemask would work Why does everyone like those jerseys? They are cheap looking jerseys. Agreed. Those are scrimmage material for a JV high school squad. The Billy Sims era Lions unis. Best ever. Bar none.
  10. No uniqueness? The are the ONLY team without an extraneous logo on their helmet, Ah yes, the graphic that presents the team's identity to the world. Those logos sure are extraneous. There's traditional, and then there's old. The Browns helmet is a tired relic from the days before logos on helmets became the norm. It's sort of like the grey facemask argument. Now that we have the technology to put a logo on there, why keep it blank? Someone needs to tell the Browns they're playing in the pros, not the NCAA. Considering the team name, applying a logo willy-nilly on the helmet ain't that easy. What are you going to use, a contrived redo of the "CB" logo? A ridiculous bulldog head? Or how about the old Brownie elf? (that's probably not so bad). Frankly, if you absolutely had to have something on the helmet, i'd go for Alabama-style player numbers. Phew. Stick with the blank if that's the best you're gonna get.

  12. GIven the chance, I'd NESN all over her. I save my NESNing for Kathryn "head of air" Tappen. God I love that bimbo.
  13. It ain't P.C. (and i'm not talkin' bout Providence College). I still miss UNLV's old Hey Reb with his massive shotgun, personally.
  14. Why not? Hell, I'd even be o.k. with bringing back Cocaine Wayne. He's the last successful coach the Lions have had. Ah, Fontes. I miss that guy. He actually seemed like he'd be a blast to have a few beers (and whatnot) with.
  15. Umm, you do realize that this all happened while the Lions were playing mediocre football? One playoff win in 50 years. It's Bill Ford Sr. that kills the Lions. He makes profit from the Lions every year. Why change anything? That's why he won't be looking for a new GM, he's keeping the interim. Until Ford Sr. dies the Lions will never be good. Change the name to "Mike Brown", change Lions to "Bengals", and change 50 to 20. Only difference is, even with Brown out of the picture, one of his moronic kids gets the team. And at least the Lions are smart enough to have a GM to fire. The Bengals have actully been to a superbowl... two, in fact. Lions? Not even close. Yeah, not even close. Hell, the Bengals had a pretty good year 2 years ago. When's the last time the Lions made some noise? 1991? Good lord...
  16. I sincerely cannot fathom why in the heck Ford would bring back Mayhew. Is he that oblivious? I mean, seriously? That organization needs a complete housecleaning. Under who's criteria did Mayhew's interim job performance warrant any extension or permanence? I don't think you could do a WORSE job as an interim GM. Literally, he did nothing that Millen didn't already set in motion - which isn't surprising because he was Millen's RIGHT HAND MAN. Good lord. Goodell has to get involved here, for the good of the league. This is already in Ted Stepien territory of incompetence. We're charting new trails of idiocy.
  17. The Lions haven't really developed ANYONE of note within the last 10-15 years, esp. not from the skill position sets (QB, RB, even WR - and i'm not counting Calvin Johnson yet as developed). You'd have to go all the way back to Herman Moore to see a Lions offensive draftee turn into something worthwhile. And that was a LONG time ago.
  18. I think it's a stunning design, frankly. And consider that the Habs' CH has just as much conjecture following its meaning as wel (ask people and see what kind of answers the average joe fan gives about that H).. And no one considers that a lousy design (and no one ever should).
  19. He was certainly never star caliber, but I think calling Vinny one of the worst ever is beyond hyperbole. At the time, and we're talking about pre-Ryan Leaf and pre-Akili Smith times, Vinny T was considered one of the worst QBs ever. He came in with such fanfare from Miami, and then proceeded to stink up the joint with the Bucs - which, granted, not entirely his fault. They could have had Steve Young at QB and still blew. Erm, yes. Still, he did manage a nice little career resuscitation later on with the Browns/Ravens and then the Jets. So weep not for Vinny.
  20. I think things would get done a helluva lot faster for football than they would for baseball in so florida. still, where's the money?
  21. How's that going to help, besides slide them into even more excruciating oblivion? The Skydome makes Ford Field look like a rocking whorehouse/frathouse combo in comparison.
  22. Horrid. Reminds me of some whale tail.
  23. Wait, so I have Joe Ferguson to blame for the Bills losing their white helmets? I love how he blamed helmet color for his entirely pedestrian quaterbacking ability. Accountability, Joe.
  24. I disagree. I like the wolf logo. It's simple, not overdesigned; it's a nice one-color image of a wolf. It works for me. It's Nike, it includes their swoosh. That's enough for me to despise the piece of affrontery. Besides, the block W with husky-head is so much more classic, collegiate and representative of U-Dub anyway. Where does it include the nike swoosh, could you point it out to me? The dog's neck. It's right there, subliminal stuff on the level of the FedEx arrow.
