  1. Exactly. Arkansas was a good team and they were dead in the water. Miami was a good team as well and never stood a chance. Why would Texas, Houston, or Kansas fare any better? Because we've heard of them?
  2. Caitlin. Is there a name that is spelled in more different ways? Is it? The upsets happened because the other teams weren't special. If they were they would have won. Did you really expect big things from Purdue? If they were capable they wouldn't have lost to Fairleigh Dickinson, a team I had only heard of because their logo is a chess piece. In a normal year FDU wouldn't have even been in the tournament. Houston was beat down by Miami. It wasn't close. Would a Houston matchup have actually been any better? Alabama got beat by San Diego State and it wasn't that close. KU lost to Arkansas in a close one, but Arkansas was underperforming before tourney time. Why would a team that lost to Arkansas not lose by 20+ to UConn? Who was supposed to realistically stand up to UConn here? Upsets got nothing to do with it.
  3. Yeah, that's right. Both ASU's were held down by the political forces trying to prop up UA. In spite of that both ASU's managed to become universities. Suck it, UA (pick one). Also, Sun Devils are sick as hell. Wildcats? Lame.
  4. And I pretended to be an Arizona State fan at some point. I forget why that happened. I think something embarrassing happened to Arizona. Maybe when they got their ass beat by Buffalo in the tourney?
  5. They're doomed. All fired. I think sports ratings are even less interesting to me than wrestling's which is saying something. I'm happy to see Norchad get to show what he can do on a national stage. He was wasted at Arkansas State under our now former coach. We had two starters transfer away and start for an Elite Eight and Final Four team. With our bum-ass coach they were finishing sixth in the one-bid Sun Belt.
  6. But guys, think of the TV ratings and those poor execs running CBS!
  7. Even better, the Derrick Rose-led Memphis Tigers were in C-USA in 2008 when they lost to Kansas in the final.
  8. The college football season that people constantly talk about how legendary and special it was all the time, even over a decade later? Sounds good to me.
  9. Sometimes I wonder if I'm too much of a nerd, and then somebody talks about TV ratings and I realize that I'm not the most annoying nerd in the room.
  10. To be fair, Arkansas' current glass ceiling is getting through the Elite Eight. They went there the last two seasons. I remember telling people that Muss was going to be big for Arkansas. Hog fans were skeptical but I've clearly been vindicated. Maybe they were right to be skeptical since I tried to tell them that Chad Morris would be solid, and instead he was the most hilariously bad football coach of all time.
  11. The reason they dropped down wasn't about potentially winning in FCS, it was about not wanting to be an FBS independent. Putting together an independent schedule when you don't have the name brand of Notre Dame, Army, or BYU is a nightmare. That's why New Mexico State and Liberty played twice in the regular season back in 2019. Las Cruces, New Mexico is a hard place to get teams to come out to play at if they aren't compelled to by a conference. NMSU was able to count on visits from one of UTEP or New Mexico every year. Who's coming to Moscow, Idaho regularly? They could get games against Washington State easily enough, but not on their side of the border. Boise State stopped playing Idaho the moment they weren't in the same conference. And in case you're wondering, they had seven seasons to rectify that. They could have gotten NMSU up there (again, they played a team twice in a single season) every other year, but now that the Aggies have a conference home that would be more difficult. The other independents during that timeframe are either too good to go to Moscow, or are too far to want to go there. They could probably get games with Liberty and UMass. Maybe UConn as a longshot (they didn't play NMSU during their indy phase). After that, you've got Notre Dame, Army, and BYU, all of whom have little trouble filling out a schedule, certainly not enough of an issue for them to need to play in the land of lentils.
  12. Recently saw where he's been benched in the NFL, CFL, XFL, and USFL. Pretty impressive for a former NFL first-rounder.
  13. I wish I could be outraged and unleash some holier than thou rant, but I watch football and wrestling, which are full of depressing stories of people's brains being destroyed.
  14. Hackett is the fastest I've ever wanted a coach gone. The strategery based on a 64-yard field goal was enough for me. I think the play clock chant was from the same game where they had to waste a timeout because they forgot to send out a punt returner. Still in that same game they were sitting around deciding whether to kick a field goal or go for it, and took so long that they got a delay and couldn't effectively do either so they just punted.
  15. Georgia struggled more with Kent State, a MAC team that finished with a losing record. Really makes it feel like the Bulldogs were just dicking around most of the season.
  16. Making this game is well beyond what most people would think TCU's ceiling is, so it's not all bad. But yeah, I think they're going to lose a lot of the goodwill they earned with a truly wild season. My current theory is that Sonny Dykes made a deal with the devil to make TCU great for 2022, neglecting the fact that the title game is in 2023.
  17. Well... It was a fun season at least.
  18. The upcoming system guarantees a G5 school gets in, which is honestly shocking. I never thought it would happen. We'll probably never get the dream of NCAA Gamebreaker 2000's 16-team playoff with all conferences getting auto-bids, but getting any playoff at all was kind of a win honestly.
  19. They don't have to settle for that, but they choose to. If they wanted to be wholly separate from the P5 they would be. Nobody from the G5 has any interest in a self-demotion.
  20. I'm having the opposite of a brain freeze. My brain thawed and came to life watching TCU bring its brand of silly football to the CFP. The only way I could be happier is if a random Sun Belt team, like say Arkansas State were to be TCU's opposition. Just a random team I picked for no reason.
  21. This has been an amazing season of college football. Multiple weeks felt like all-timers for nonsense. 2007 is lauded as the standard-bearer of wacky football, but it didn't stick the landing. We went into the final week of 07 with Mizzou vs. West Virginia as a potential title game, and ended with LSU vs. Ohio State. This year, TCU is playing for the national championship. 2022 has been a special season. It's rare that the most exciting team in any sport comes this close to a title. I feel like this is the sort of thing I'll tell my hypothetical kids about the weirdness of my time like my dad telling me that Jacksonville once made a Final Four. The worst thing is apathy. False hope is a very close second though. I think it's fun to point out that Georgia's toughest opponents this year were outside the South. Mizzou, Kentucky, Kent St, and Ohio St gave the Bulldogs their toughest tests. It probably means nothing, but it's neat.
