    I don't think football's gonna be too far behind, given how well the Aggies have been doin' there as of late; of course, if Sac State does end up joining the Pac, then the Mountain West is gonna want a piece of that Sacramento-area football pie...

    As expected, Yankees fans are burning Juan Soto's old jersey: There's only one obvious problem with burning a Yankees jersey...and all on the muskrat app, people are pointing out that it could work as a Roger Clemens or Robinson Cano throwback.

    So, Conference Championship Day kicks off with perhaps my favorite storyline of all these games...Iowa State's quest to win the Big 12 Championship. To put things into perspective, the last time the Cyclones won a conference title in football, Harriet Tubman was still alive.

    St. Pete has approved the bonds for the Rays' new ballpark today.

    And there it is...the nation's second-longest bowl streak (which began when there were only half as many bowl games as now), all down the drain. If that isn't cause for firing Luke Fickell, I don't know what is.

    That's exactly why it would be the site with the best chance: 1. At 2,600, it's not afraid to start off small...and even if the typical OHL GTA problems become evident there, at least it won't look as empty as the others. 2. It's not just any arena...it's the cathedral of hockey. With history dripping all throughout, it's got the best chance of any venue of being a successful home to a Toronto OHL team. So if that fails, they can officially write off the area...

    I feel like the AHL Marlies are going to Hamilton, but the new OHL Marlies are gonna play at the old Maple Leaf Gardens...that is the one way I believe it could work.

    In anticipation of their inaugural season in Daybreak, the Salt Lake Bees have tweaked their brand. The name, basic look and color scheme remain the same, but new marks have been added and the identity has been given a more classy look.

    I do hope the Carolina Mudcats brand can live on in some way at Five County Stadium after '25...either in the Atlantic or Frontier League.

    In other news, the current Carolina Mudcats have unveiled their new branding for their 2026 inaugural season in Wilson, North Carolina. The Wilson Warbirds are cleared for takeoff.

    But there's nothing that energizes the morale of a little city quite like being home to a big team that REPRESENTS that little city that energizes the morale of a little city...which is why, judging from the social media comments, the Bowie residents are NOT happy and feel abandoned and betrayed. Do you think my favorite football team should change their name to the Wisconsin Packers?

    Yeah, I think the Rays have played their last game in St. Pete.

    The two most ideal situations: 1. The Tampa season is a rousing success, leading Hillsborough County folks to move quickly and get a deal done. 2. If that "Orlando Dreamers" guy is as serious as he claims to be, he'll make a deal to buy the Rays, move them to Orlando and get that ballpark built...the Orlando Rays name does have history, after all.
