  1. Of all the Pac-12 schools left, Stanford probably fits the Big Ten's profile the closest academically and culturally. In addition, the Cardinal will be the missing piece needed for the Big Ten to finally lure the grand prize of this decades-long game of Musical Conferences; Notre Dame football.
  2. With BOTH football and basketball championships in Vegas now, it's inevitable that the Pac-12 will at least try to add 'em.
  3. In other news, the Pac-12 Football Media Day has been moved to Las Vegas. If you can read between the lines, this bit of of understated news makes 'em look vigorous.
  4. Watch STL eclipse that...the game's being hosted in the wrong Dome.
  5. Sorry if I missed this in an earlier post, but with Chuck Howley finally getting inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. it would've been a perfect year for another MVP to come from the losing team. Jalen Hurts' performance was one of his most solid yet, and he kept the Eagles in the game as long as they did.
  6. Whichever city ends up with the Bulldogs after Hamilton's arena renovations are complete, I believe the other one will get an OHL expansion team. The question is, who would be a second expansion city for the league?
  7. Big 12 has just announced that a deal has been made with Oklahoma & Texas. For $100 million in early withdrawal fees, the Sooners and Longhorns will join the SEC in 2024.
  8. I really hope they make it up to us logo aficionados by having one of the 2024 expansion teams wear purple and orange...I see why the Maulers want to identify with their city, but it still hurts to see history erased like this.
  9. Ghost Hounds is my pick...bonus points if they give a phantasmal tweak to the logo for the stillborn Loudoun Hounds. I think that logo lends itself well to being "ghostified."
  10. I'm still trying to get used to there being a "SomethingCU" school that's not affiliated with the Disciples of Christ nor has purple, black and white as its colors.
  11. It would be SMU...the Big 12's not gonna wander too far beyond their Texas roots.
  12. THIS. Especially Houston and UCF...the Gulf Coast rivalry would be somethin' special.
  13. If the ASUN-WAC football superconference gets approved to get moved up en masse to FBS, I think it could be the Bison's best bet to finally get there (and the 'Jacks would likely come with them as a package deal). Note to mods: If this post is more fit for the realignment thread, feel free to move it there.
  14. And while they're at it, PLEASE put "Tampa Bay" back on the roads!
  15. Would you rather keep denying Group of Five teams a legitimate chance at a national championship?
  16. Exactly what I'm thinking. Have D1 football be three subdivisions. FAS - Power Five FBS - Group of Five FCS - Same as before
  17. In an 11-5 vote, the UC Board of Regents has officially greenlit UCLA's move to the Big Ten in 2024. The Bruins are probably gonna pay a settlement to Berkley at some point...but now the realignment dance will resume shortly.
  18. All the good options appear to already be taken...
  19. Note in the article that it appears the NCAA would be willing to recognize that conference as an FBS one...the only problem is that nobody seems to know what the procedure is to admit an entire new FBS conference these days (it hasn't happened since the Mountain West started in '99). If that conference does happen, something tells me that Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State and Sam Houston's coming stays in C-USA could be short ones. And finally, if that conference gets approved, it means we get even MOAR bowl games (a big conference is gonna need tie-ins, you know)...
  20. Apparently, Ed Orgeron is one of the finalists for the UNLV coaching job...and now, "Coach O in Vegas" is trending on Twitter (particularly because the fans think it would be fun to see what unfolds).
  21. USC's the team that plays at the Coliseum...UCLA plays at the Rose Bowl.
  22. What I'm worried about is that all the unprecedented attention he gave to HBCUs is going to go away now and they'll fade back into obscurity in the public eye, with no one knowing when (or if) they'll ever reach that attention again. I had even thought he was gonna make JSU the first HBCU in FBS...
  23. New Mexico State's waiver has been granted by the NCAA; the Aggies are bowl-eligible.
  24. If the Green Wave's momentum keeps up for the next season or two, I could honestly see Tulane be a target for expansion-hungry Power Five conferences the way SMU and Memphis are expected to be.
