  1. Texture looks great for the grass fields. The fieldturf and astroturfed fields will be a bit different!
  2. Yea, I remember this very vivdly. I had just gotten engaged to my wife, Cherry. And this was one of the first programs we watched as a couple. And she loved listening to Bono anyway! ;-)
  3. I've been thinking about it but I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. The first Super Bowl that I've seen to have the team box painted was XXXI, but for much of the Super Bowls it has been really hard to see whats actually there. So that might be something I add later on once I have a good enough idea of how they were all painted (mostly the older Super Bowls). I understand. Some of the team boxed where complicated, and some very plain. This past years Super Bowl in NY/NJ had no decoration at all. And some like SB XXXVII and beyond where really intricate.
  4. I am also working on the exact dimensions for the field tray (yes it is an elevated, mobile tray they use here in Phoenix) at University of Phoenix Stadium (AZ Cardnials and the Site of Super Bowl XLIX).So that will assist the board in creating the SB field for this season.
  5. Real Quick question, as you get closer to the Super Bowl games that have decorations for the team boxes. Are you planing to add those to the fields, or leave them off? If that is the case I have the duplicate profile, and I can add them after the fact, so it will not disrupt your computer program.
  6. Tomorrow is the start of my 25th season of High School football in the Phoenix, Az area!

  7. No Problem. I do have my "resources" form time to time! ;-)
  8. Yes the black border is there! Along with the smaller fed outline on the letters. The word "Atlanta" in not the endzone. The border looks to be about half as thick as the example in your post.
  9. Yea "Fisheye" lenses on cameras are a bit tricky! ;-)
  10. i can answer this one question myself. I am a resident of Phoenix, and have volunteered at both SB XXX and XLII, and will do so again at SB XLIX. The design was the first to use the "Modern" facemasks, and it was right about then the "official" helmet logos transistioned from the "2 bar" to the "Cage" mask. This one design only showed up in this Super Bowl as in SB XXXI and beyond the helmets where on the field area, or completely changed in size altogether. And from SBXL no longer present on the field at all!
  11. Neil O'Donnell threw the ball right to Larry Brown, not once; but twice. Ugh, to know now this was Dallas's latest Super Bowl it frustrates me to no end. I was not even 4 years old when Dallas won Super Bowl XXX. My dad has the 3 Super Bowl wins in the 90s for Dallas on VHS, but yeah. I was too young to remember any of Dallas's Super Bowl wins in the early 90s. Its not easy to see your favorite team not make it to a championship. I was fortunate to see both the Detroit Tigers, and Red Wings win (and with the Wings many times) I saw my Second Favorite NFL team, the Arizona Cardinals get to SB XLIII and if it was not for a frantic last minute drive by "Big Ben". But that is for "What if's" and other paltitudes. But my Favorite NFL team (Lions) have never been to the Super Bowl, and most likely never will. Closest was back in 91-92 when Barry Sanders was at the peak of his prowess. Be happy you have the tapes and can go back and see your team in greatness. As for long suffering Lions fans. That is something they might never have. Just food for thought! ;-) Corrected for correct SB the Cardinals palyed in, Thats what I get for working on my SB XLII and SB XLIX template! ;-)
  12. Awesome, looks just like the field at Sun Devil Stadium! ;-)
  13. Yea you got it right. A video I have seen on you tube for SB XXX, has the on helmet bar a bit closer to the edge, But the cage looks spot on! :-D
  14. You got it about right. Pics I have on the net show the facemask to be a much thinner version of what the "modern" cage mask is for more current helmets (pre-edge and newer models) I am tring to get a pic off the NFL films video about SB XXX that gives a tighter look at the helmets!
  15. Yea SB XXIX was a nightmare. A mismashed set of "goof's" and a poor design due to the 75 season. I would have done the NFL shield, and the SB logos at mid field and the 75th Season logo in the endzone. I think that would have been better!
  16. I always think of XXX the last of the "Classic" fields. Although they changed the helmets to a modern 4 bar face mask, the general look was the same as many of the past fields, unlike the many changes that took place for XXXI. Plus XXX had a classic match-up between the Steelers and Cowboys. Yep. That the only super bowl I ever was close to getting into. I had litterly just got back from the US Army a year or so earlier, and had worked part time hawking at Sun Devil Stadium. I did not last long as I got my first post Army job at a local Frys Grocery store as a cashier and was attending Glendale (AZ) Community College, and just began my carrer umpiring High School sports. Though I did get involved volunteering for the NFL Experience. And continued with SB XLII at Universtity of Phoeinx Stadium, and plan to continue to do so this year for SB XLiX.
  17. The NFL had a cut and dry numbering system by posistion. Unlike the NCAA which was more "fexable". The NFL adoped the "Exception Rule" about a decade or so ago. So Sterling never got the chance to wear the number he wore in college.
  18. Correct. though I wonder if that was the reason the logos had rhat blue field around them. Or a possible mis painted or repainted area.
  19. i live in Glendale (actualy a small slice of Phoenix that butts up to Glendale) and I can actually see UofP stadium from my subdivision. The roof is usualy closed most of the time, but I would have to say from October through the end of the season the roof is usally open. Depends on the Cardinals wishes. Though the stadium is much louder with the roof closed (and it is more like a "sun roof" than a full roof anyway!)
  20. I always wondered why they made that change with the AFC and NFC logos. It looked odd, but I guess they wanted the logo to be "Distintive" from the helmet.
  21. This was the first SB I saw via AFN (Armed Forces Network) while stationed in Germany. A great game, a great rematch between teams. And a thrilling ending.
  22. Unfortunately that picture never existed. I made the cake for a SB party (Just the endzones and NFL logo) at the Hospitality House operated by a Christian organization, to give Soldiers an option on the weekends, other than the barracks. And then ended up pulling duty (Batallion driver) as every other authorized driver in my Unit got massively drunk (read as absolutely "Sloberknockered" or other "Colorful Metafores!") that weekend (happens when your a Corporal and a Chaplains Assistant). And because of my chapel duties I did not drink. I ended doing a lot a lot of extra weekend "duty" though being a Corporal. So, sadly I never got a piece of the cake or a picture of it.
  23. Ironicaly I started getting interested in the design of NFL fields and the Super Bowl. As I was making a Super Bowl Cake for SB XXII (as I was stationed in Schweinfut Germany with the US Army) I got a book called "The Illistrated Rules of the NFL" which had the first copy of the NFL field diagram I ever saw. The cake did not turn out so hot, but I used grass green crape paper, colored pencils, and a very good mechanical draftsman ruller to make a really good copy of the fields for SB XXII and SB XIII. And thus a hobby was born!
  24. Yea, Same here. I remember this SB as I was staioned at Fort Ord (Monterey, CA). I actualy worked (Moonlighted) at an Official Jersey and Sports store in Carmel, CA It was nuts! And yes the original bid was for "The Stick" and the stadium was very sub-standard. Though they did play SB XXX at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, AZ. Though about comperable to the Rose Bowl and Stanford Stadium at the time. It was a much location than the stadiums of today (like Sun Devil Stadium's replacement for the Cardinals. The University of Phoeninx Stadium, Home to SB XLII and XLIX).
  25. I just finished it up and I think its looking nice, so I figured I'd give a preview of what I got. This ended up being a pain to clean up and took me a few attempts but in the end I think it turned out real nice. Patriots normal wordmark for the era Patriots modified wordmark for Super Bowl XX AWESOME! :-D
