As we enter into year two of Nike/NBA, I actually have an appreciation for the Adidas Sleeved Jerseys. Sure, a lot of the designs for the jerseys were atrocious and/or needed tweaking but the more I see the ads on jerseys now, the more I begin to realize the Nike Swoosh and the ads don't belong on the jerseys since it ruins the balance of the design elements of the jerseys.

    I Like both.

I'd like to see them bring back sleeved jerseys for players who wear shirts under their jerseys. This is awful:

The NBA's introduction of, and subsequent allowance of otherwise "off-brand" jerseys for their respective teams - diverting away from just "home" and "away" denotations and the color schemes thereof - is a slippery slope of cash-grabbing brand dilution that is not unlike the jersey stunts we have seen in Minor League baseball.

    ...Change my mind.

You say Minor League Baseball, I say European soccer.

My point about the W is that the scripts would be a lot more legible without the drop shadows.  But because of the cap logo, it needs them in order to match.  I just wonder how many tweaks you have to make before you end up with something different enough to justify scrapping the entire thing. I get the feeling that a lot of Brewers fans are sick of the current identity simply because of the perception that it keeps getting forced on us when its obvious what the fans prefer.

But I'm gonna go off on a tangent now because this is the unpopular opinions thread... I don't actually mind when baseball teams combine their city and nickname for a cap monogram.  I'll admit my biases as a BiG loyalist are at play here.  But I also logged in a lot of hours playing Super Baseball Simulator 1.000 as a tween and teen, which made me curious about Japanese baseball where this is a much more common practice.

In some cases, the "city" is actually the corporation that sponsors the team.  The Yomiuri Giants for example, play at the Tokyo Dome and wear scripts that actually say "TOKYO" on their road greys.

  4. More than brown, people should rally around the Padres bringing back the yellow permanently. Only two teams in the league use it and even then only the A's really highlight it. And whenever you watch a Padres game, because everyone wears their regular clothes, nothing sticks out (not even brown) except yellow. And it's the same on the road. The only time you can really make a Padres fan out is when they're wearing yellow.

The Padres' uniforms have grown on me. My first reaction to them was "boring blue and white", but they're actually pretty clean and distinct. Pinstripes might have been nice, but I like the way the white pops on these too.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I think that a yellow outline and the 2016 hat would've got (most) people to shut up about brown.

i was actually saying the same thing to a friend during game 7.

i said the only team that i can think of that even comes close is the dallas stars/north stars thing. i know that's controversial on this forum with some people, but i think the dodgers get it absolutely right. same team. honor it.

I assume that part of it is that Brooklyn never got another team. The old New York Giants hat is basically a black version of the current New York Mets hat and Milwaukee, Philly, etc. are all still part of the league. Still, it's interesting that so many Angelenos wear another city's initial.

You can't see the cap from the front; but that Brand 47 cap uses the better Dodger cap logo with the circular loops in the B.

It's interesting how much LA Dodgers fans embrace their Brooklyn heritage. I can't think of another fanbase that embraces their team's ex-city like that.

  8. I think the amout of dark blue in baseball is fine, as long as the teams play up their secondary color. The Indians, Red Sox and Astros are good because they emphasize red and orange (or at least they do at home) but teams like the Rays and Brewers, who don't, and the Padres, who don't even have a secondary color, are giving everyone else a bad name. Even all the dark blue hats are fine and mostly because an orange hat doesn't really go with anything in real life.

  9. It depends on why you like your original team?

If it's a team you picked when you were a kid because you liked a particular player or their jerseys, those aren't reasons to stay loyal. If it was an older family member's team and they raised you to like them because they like them, that's different but really, odds are that you're dumping a big market team for a small(er) market team and that is generally OK. The big market team will survive.
