  1. I don't have CS4, but I wouldn't think it's different from CS3..... Click on whatever object you want outlined, then go up to Object>Path>Offset Path. Then, type in a size. Or, you could always just add a stroke in the colors palette, and then go to Object>Expand. Hopefully that helps. Okay, but say for example I wanted to outline the Colorado Avalanche primary logo from the site, but when I copy it into Illustrator its still a .gif file, so when I select it it doesn't select the image itself but rather the dimensions like this. What I'm trying to do is just added a white outline to the logo itself so for concepts its more correct rather than on the Avalanche home jersey the burgundy isn't touching the logo but there's a white outline separating the logo and the burgundy. Does that make any sense? Hopefully I'm getting this right.... From what I've gathered, the logo you're using isn't vector, meaning it's a gif/jpeg/png rather than a eps or ai....is that right? If you need a vector file, I think I have it somewhere, then you can do the offset path thing I listed above. Yeah it's still the original .gif from the website. Is there anyway to convert logos from the site into .ai format? Livetrace should work, although I'm not a fan of it. Click on the image, then go to Object>LiveTrace>TracingOptions. Change it to color, rather than Black & White, and then click "Make". Then go to Object>LivePaint>Make. It's not 100% perfect, but it's decent. Then, use the direct select tool(hollow arrow) and delete the white background. Or, rather than LiveTrace, you could trace it by hand with the pen tool. I know it takes longer, but it'll be more accurate if you take your time doing it. Whichever way you choose, then do the offset path that I mentioned earlier. Hopefully this'll help you out. And hopefully the menus are the same on CS4.

  4. Not sure about the BP jersey/cap, but here's the rest: Vector Portal
  5. What a half-assed Hamburglar costume! He doesn't even have a hamburger necktie!
  6. In case anyone cares to know, rmered's hosting my new basketball template....here's a link: Shumway's Basketball Template Here's the topic, if you want to see what it looks like: Here
  7. Anyone want to take a shot at this? It's extremely close to a font I have on my computer called 'Carbon Block'. Whether or not that's the actual name is beyond me. Carbon Block doesn't have the 'stem' on the 'M' or 'N', but otherwise, it's the same, except the Sonic may've used a condensed version. Carbon Block
  8. Check youtube, actually. Someone on here (pcgd?) made a tutorial, If I recall. I actually learned just by trying it on my own. I'm essentially self-taught in Illustrator, and it seems to be working out.
  9. I'm pretty sure it's American Typewriter
  10. It works, but i cant get the new path to be a different color. do you know how to do that? You'll have to either: 1. Ungroup it, then group the layers that you want the same color. 2. Use the direct selection tool to solely select the offset path.
  11. Click on the two endpoints you want to join, and press Apple/CTRL "J". I can't remember what menu the join tool is actually under. Or, if you mean two shapes, Use the pathfinder tool. It'll be the first button on the left, I believe. Then, click the expand button, and it'll be one continuous shape.
  12. It's really not hard to do a stadium in illustrator -- it just takes forever. I made one for a project last semester, although it wasn't quite as detailed as these. I made more of the seating chart you'd see in a pocket schedule, rather than showing each individual seat. The best advice IC an give you is that the pathfinder tool is your friend in these types of things. I live by that thing.
  13. I'm beginning to build a website for myself. I have two, make it three questions: 1. How do I make a link to download the .pdf of my resume? 2. I'm basically doing everything in Illy, then using hotspots for clickable links. Whether or not that's correct isn't my question . I'm trying to get the email link clickable, but I can't seem to get it to move where I want it to be or be a hotspot in itself. Any ideas/help? 3. Once I get this stuff actually done, how do I go about actually making it a website. Meaning, I don't know anything about setting up a domain or whatever. Thanks, fellas. I should have everything linked together by the end of the night...I just need these few things. Then, you can all see my stuff, since I accidentally deleted my photobucket account. I suppose I should mention I'm using Dreamweaver, in case it's not obvious. Edit: Nevermind #1. Figured that one out...seems like all you do is link to it. I figured there was more to it. Edit #2: Now, nevermind #2. We'll see if I can figure out the last part now.
  14. To change the colors for your gradient, drag whatever swatch you want to the little swatches on the gradients layer/palette. For example, if you want one end to be orange, drag the orange swatch to the black or white swatch in the gradient palette. Does this make sense? Then, to apply a direction, choose the gradient tool from the toolbar, and you select the shape, then drag up or down, depending which way you want it to go. Hopefully this helps.
  15. Handel Gothic for the numbers
  16. MLB: Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim - I actually started as an Expos fan because, for some reason, I liked this card I had of Mark Langston(1989 Fleer, I b'lieve). I followed him to the Angels, where I've stayed ever since. Tim Salmon and Jimmy Edmonds kinda helped keep me an Angels fan. I'll continue to loosely follow any team Jim Edmonds or Darin Erstad go to. I actually own quite a bit of Cardinals garb, although now, I'm looking for Padres stuff. NFL: Detroit Lions - Barry Sanders. Need I explain more? I've stayed loyal because, well, that's what you should do. NHL: Detroit Red Wings - The whole Detroit connection with the Lions. I never really had an NHL team(I kinda followed the Kings, due to Wayne) until about 3rd grade, the year before they lost to Jersey in the finals. Sergei Fedorov was probably the guy I liked most when I became a fan. NBA: Phoenix Suns - Again, a player made my decision. I always just liked players when I was younger, such as Shawn Kemp, David Robinson, Dominique Wilkins, Clyde Drexler, and Charles Barkley, who my brother idolized(of course, he's not a role model). When Charles went to 'Zona, both my brother and I became Suns fans. However, my favorite player switched to Thunder Dan, who I still idolize to this day. I was briefly a Heat fan during Majerle's stay, although I oddly didn't like the Cavs when he was there. NCAA: Pitt Panthers - My brother went to Pitt, and I basically fell in love with the town. I always look forward to St. Patty's day, when I make my annual trip to drink my brains out in Pittsburgh. I half-assedly root for Notre Dame as well, along with colleges my favorite players attended(Central Mich., Okla. State, Oregon etc.) IIHL: Sweden - Well, half the team plays in Hockeytown, so I might as well follow them. I've got nothing against the US, but Sweden's jerseys(circa 2002-04) are just things of beauty. My roller hockey team is actually the Fightin' Swedes, as I'm sure some of you may recall. Football/Soccer: Italy/Juventus/Barcelona - I don't follow soccer closely at all. I couldn't name more than a player or two on any team, to be honest. I followed Italy in the '94 World Cup, and I've just kinda kept on keepin' on. I really only started liking Juventus about 2 years ago, since I made a poster of a soccer player, and I just used their uniforms. I like Barcelona basically because I have a kickass hoody of them.
  17. I feel like a complete friggin' moron, because: 1. I made this poster 2. It's a pretty common font ...but can someone tell me what font I did "Philadelphia Five Alarm..." in? I outlined my type in Illustrator, so I can't just click on it and see. Eventually, I'll think of it, but right now, it's just not coming to me.
  18. Damn. Just...damn. Heck, when did Manute play for the Bullets? I remember him obviously as a Sixer, since I met him at a local mall here, and as a Warrior, in which he was posterized by the oh-so Thunderous Dan.
  19. Although I wouldn't call him a legend, here's Eli as a Charger, for a couple minutes.
  20. Majerle as a Cavalier....bottom left. If I could get one of those jerseys, I'd be ungodly happy. Shawn Kemp - Orlando Magic...I don't feel like digging up Cavs or Blazers pics, but he's always a Sonic to me. Not really a legend(or even a pic you can see), but that's Johnnie Morton as a Niner. Weird.
  21. I honestly don't even remember this happening. Although I realize he played for Chicago and SD, this guy will always be a Phillie:
  22. Although I've got a feeling it's custom, the "Propel"
  23. don't know what it is, but i gotta say that font should never, in any capacity, be used ever again. Agreed. But it actually looks like someone might've bastardized the hell out of another somewhat decent font.
