NHL Anti-Thread: Bad Business Decision Aggregator
monkeypower replied to The_Admiral's topic in Sports In General
I've seen worse. They used to have a thing where you get 2 free tickets when you buy a $20 bottle of Absolute or Stoli or something from Fry's (a local grocery store). maybe but that's $24.75 for a NHL ticket, a hot dog and Pepsi per person to see the current Stanley Cup champs play. I spent more than that to take my wife to see Phantom of the Opera for her birthday years ago. ... on a Saturday night, no less. Those should be the easy tickets to sell. If they have trouble selling a Saturday game against the defending Cup champions, how in blue hell do they promote a Tuesday game in March against the Florida Panthers? If this water fountain constitutes a "lake" in Arizona, what constitutes an "ocean?" -
How are they going to do it though? Jiggy and Teemu played for the Mighty and non-Mighty Ducks. I personally wouldn't care whatever team they were retired for (even though it will probably be the Ducks) as long as they don't go back and retire Herbert or Salei or *gasp* Kariya or whoever as non-Mighty Ducks.

It works out so that the Mighty Ducks one is the only one that is out of place, but my anal nature does not like it at all. I don't mind the orange one for the Stanley Cup and the black for everything else, as long as they keep it consistent.

October Attendance figures http://nhltoseattle.com/2013/11/04/october-nhl-attendance/ -
I think the reason for this is because hockey jerseys are the largest, so there is more room to do interesting stripes and patterns on them.I think it's also because it has the most room for creativity. There are only so many variations on baseball jerseys. There's going to be a script or a chest logo, maybe a number on the front or not, a sleeve logo or not.Basketball's the same. You're usually going to get a script with a number underneath it.

MOD EDIT Back on topic, I like the Angels red on red jersey

Does anybody have the Mighty Ducks Reebook template from the throwback game?

Minor/Independent/Collegiate League Baseball Logo/Uniform Changes
monkeypower replied to BigMac12's topic in Sports Logo News
I like it. I'm all for minor league teams being out there with their names and logos. I'll definitely try to pick up a hat from these guys and the Chihuahuas to add to my minor league collection. -
I don't know how unpopular this is, but I like the Blues with red in their colour scheme. Not like the Mighty Ducks style jersey from the late 90's though, just as an accent colour. I think this is their best look

I'd argue that the California teams are doing well, even though San Jose isn't really a southern team, besides the Ducks posting losses. -
Maybe you're missing a black script jersey from your life?

They proved hockey belonged in the desert... ...Just don't ask them how or when. -
The NBA team in Tampa will be called the Pirates? And then there's the 49ers and the Miners in the same division, when there names mean pretty much the same thing, and the Toronto Buffalo?

To be fair, that wasn't an NHL decision. -

Concepts are for sports esthetic related things that people create and want to show off (logos, jerseys, stadiums, rebrands etc.) General Design is basically the Sports Logos section but for non-sports related designs. It's not a place to post your own work, but rather a place to discuss non-sports related designs. -

Not possible. The hypothetical arena is being built by the guys trying to bring the NBA to Seattle. Hockey is always going to be a secondary consideration even with a team at Key Arena. That said a secondary consideration Coyotes in Seattle are better than the no consideration Coyotes in Glendale. No, not really. I'd rather the NHL not be a catspaw for some effort to secure a basketball team. You say that like the NHL hadn't sacrificed its dignity long ago. At what point in the space time continuum has the NHL ever had some dignity to begin with? They cancelled the Stanley Cup final in 1919 because of the Spanish flu pandemic... that was classy of them. Only because players were affected and it was a simpler time. HRR wasn't invented yet. -
I like the current Brewers logos and colours better than the BiG logo. In the same colour schemes I like the current Rams logos and colours better than the old LA Rams colours.

I seem to be having trouble getting back to the mobile view on my phone. Whenever I tap the "Use Mobile Version" on the bottom of the site it just goes to the top of the page I'm on. Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong? Edit: Just worked, don't know how I did it. -
The Big Ol' Counterfeit Jersey Thread
monkeypower replied to charger77's topic in Sports Logo General Discussion
A guy on reddit won a Ducks jersey at a pub and someone pointed out that it looked fake, Namely the collar, the NHL logo and the captain's C not being the actual font. The original poster found CCM logos on the jersey but Reebok tags. He searched it up and found: Any of you heard of this? -

The Big Ol' Counterfeit Jersey Thread
monkeypower replied to charger77's topic in Sports Logo General Discussion
I think they'd be kind of hard due to neither of them being "normal" jersey templates. Wildwing with the full jersey logo and the Burger King with the weird full jersey stripes and upper chest logo. Also most people who are looking for counterfeit jerseys don't know why those jerseys are so big, so the counterfeit market is more for current jerseys.
