From what I can tell the league's rules are closer to international competition and overseas pro volleyball than college
I believe the international/college libero rules are incredibly similar. So, that video should still help.

And--as I was a novice to this sport before the PVF--I believe the libero cannot score a point, either. Has to be another player to get the ball across the net to score. If I understood it right.
Correct. They are not allowed to play the front row and are not able to block or attack. They also can sub in and out without counting towards the substitution limit.
Here's a video from the NCAA about the basic libero rules. I'm not 100% sure, but I doubt the PVF changed any of the college rules.- 1

The fact that I'm far more interested in watching my Toledo Rockets play Wyoming in the Barstool Sports Bowl
Speaking of Toledo, they have a receiver named Junior Vandeross III. What the heck is up with that name??

Miami's football team used green and gold instead of green and orange during the 50s and 60s. I imagine the basketball team did as well., or at least a combination of green/gold/orange.

Logo Shak. It's been gone for awhile now.

Well now we know why new balance doesn’t have any big colleges or pro leagues contracts
They actually have a quite a few college contracts (Boston College and Denver to name a few) but they mainly stick to schools with big hockey/lacrosse programs. And I don’t think they do football uniforms at all.The polka dots are definitely a Bryant thing, as no other New Balance team uses them as far as I can tell.

There’s something about it I don’t like. Perhaps it’s the Stanford script instead of the S, but I’m not feeling these.
Yeah, the script on the helmet just doesn't feel like Stanford. I think the same red helmet with the old block S would look pretty sharp, though. The S needs to be bigger than what they used for those throwbacks.
The baseball team uses that block S on a red hat and it looks really good.

That should of been silver and black so it would acknowledge his coaching time with the Raiders! This disappoints me that they chose brown and orange instead!!!
I imagine they're going for more of a bronze look once it's made into one of those plexi-patches, like the Walter Payton ones. I do agree that silver would have been better.

Did they let the gator in or not? If they turned the gator away, we may be looking at another 100-year+ curse . . .

Has Arkansas ever gone cardinal*-on-cardinal* before? I can't recall ever having seen them in mono-red before (not that I've had much reason to notice until now)...nice little change of pace.
Back when they were going crazy with their uniform designs they would go mono-red quite often. With the return to their classic look, they tend to do it once or twice a year.

I can’t explain why, but I used to get him and Jake Plummer confused. I guess Broncos quarterbacks from the interregnum between Elway and Manning just meld together for me.

Wearing white at home really helped the Broncos last week. Good thing they didn't overheat in their orange jerseys, or else they'd have lost by 2 points!
While it was a hot day, the Broncos weren’t wearing white because of the heat. They did a 25th Anniversary Celebration for Super Bowl XXXIII, where they wore the white jerseys.- 4

It's great to CU football relevant again. Enjoy this while it lasts. Coach Prime's stock is skyrocketing and other programs will come calling when the regular season colludes. Because we all know how college football goes, he really could be one-and-done in Boulder.
Chances are he'll be a two-and-done. Shedeur, Travis Hunter, and all his Jackson State guys have used their free transfer to get to CU and wouldn't be able to follow him out. After next season, pretty much all of his guys will either be graduated or draft-ready.

It's become the standard look for the purple jersey over the last couple of years. They've worn those pants as far back as 2021, see the photo with the 2021 All-Star patch below, and maybe even before that.

I really don't like that any foul inside the box is an automatic penalty. This is undoubtedly a foul, for sure. But giving Wolves a penalty shot there seems absurd to me.

While we're still DuckJacked, two things I remember seeing in an internet post years ago that want to take the temperature of.
Firstly, everyone knows the Mighty Ducks name came from the movie and the in-canon reason being that Gordan Bombay named the team after his boss Mr. Duckworth as a way to get Duckworth to sponsor the team. The post I saw says Michael Eisner named the movie after his fraternity, which was Delta Upsilon and who's animal/mascot is a duck.
Eisner naming the movie after his fraternity seems plausible enough for me, but I don't know about the logo.
When searching it now, the only thing that comes up is some old Delta Upsilon info webpage hosted on the Old Dominion University website claiming the Mighty Ducks name comes from the fraternity.
If the E:60 Once Upon A Time In Anaheim documentary is to be believed, Steve Brill had already come up with the Ducks name before finishing the script and pitching the movie to Disney.

Devils posted this on IG, apparently the center ice logo isn’t painted onto the floor, it’s more of a vinyl wrap maybe? edit: Maybe that wrap being washed has nothing to do with center ice (the “outer” circle in the video is black, but the center ice circle is blue for games).
Always thought crews painted everything.

It really depends on the team. I'd imagine most on-ice ads are those vinyl wraps and some teams use them for center ice as well. But there is still a chunk of teams painting the ice. Here's a video of the Red Wings from the beginning of this season.

if only the Nuggets hadn't changed their unis in 2015, I'd be a happy fan right now
They had already tweaked the powder blue look to death by 2015.

The NBA needs to push all the fans back away from the court, especially the owners. The way the NBA lets its owners think they are larger than the teams is insane. When the Warriors won the championship and they started with 15 minutes of the owners holding the trophy and talking about how much they sacrificed to win this before Steph and Klay even touched the trophy, that was infuriating.

A ridiculous FOUR DAYS OFF between Nuggets/Suns games 2 and 3. For no reason either. The Avalanche are eliminated and the Suns don't share an arena with anyone.
It makes no sense at all because even if the Avs were still going the schedule would still have worked without the days off. The Heat/Knicks have the same thing going on too, so the only thing I can think of is that they wanted a stand-alone weeknight for the Lakers/Warriors and Celtics/76ers. To try to boost ratings?

If this continues, we may be looking at a Seattle/Vegas West Final.
A SEA/VGK and FLA/CAR final four is not what anyone wants, but it's what we deserve.
