  1. The Devils did diddly poo with the team, barely did any tv advertising, and the marketing was bare bones. It was like they really didn't want to be in the Capital District.
  2. The pronoun "She" is the reason why her program's NOT advertised during Monopoly's games. Fox is skerred of upsetting their base.
  3. The occasional Devils' game in AC is all that's going to happen. The league office and many of the franchise owners, and that does include NHL teams, prefer to have Albany in the league than AC
  4. When the Capital District Islanders played out of the Houston Fieldhouse on RPI's campus, the student tickets were dirt freaking cheap, even for rival Union College students. The River Rats always tried to appeal to UatAlbany, Siena, and other colleges' students. Once the Devils took over, they seem to forget about them.
  5. The city of Albany has 100,000 people, give or take. The market, however, is close to 1 million: It goes north past Glens Falls, south to Catskill, west to past Amsterdam, and east to the MA, VT, and CT borders. The Times Union Center holds over 13,000 for hockey, but with upper deck curtains is reduced to around 8,000. The Capital District is strange when it comes to major league sports fandom. By vehicle, it's within 3 hours of Boston and NYC, another hour you can hit Buffalo and Montreal. With that said, there are probably an equal amount of Rangers, Islanders, and Bruins fans here, with the Sabres next, the Devils trailing the Canadiens. The major sticking point of the low attendance has been the location of the arena. Downtown Albany was NOT the most ideal place, 10 miles east across the Hudson would have been better, even 12 miles west in Schenectady as well. The parent Devils don't maintain a good presence at the arena, send terrible front office personnel up. Also, discontinuing the River Rats identity didn't help.
  6. The Padres need to use those on a "What Could Have Been" nights. They're much better than the camo togs.
  7. I do like this color combination, though it would be better for an MLS change/away or tertiary kit.
  8. Baylor is a hypocritical college. They make it difficult for their agnostic and atheist students - a nephew received his Bachelors and Masters in Science from the school but was constantly being harassed by students and officials for his refusal to attend "Christian" and Bible study courses - yet they allow the sexual assaults on women.
  9. He and Colin Cowherd can insult their fanbases togethers.
  10. WHEN I win the lottery tonight, I'm turning that dome into an indoor quarter mile dirt track.
  11. Wife's company is a corporate sponsor for the AHL Albany Devils AND the ECHL Adirondack Thunder. She's entered us into the free ticket raffles for ALL the games. It's great to live in NY's Capital District, have the Devils and Thunder, plus DI's Union College and RPI, all within an "hour's" drive.
  12. They probably won't have many home games from late November to December too. NFR (rodeo) will boot them out around Thanksgiving for two weeks, their will be a NCAA holiday tournament to be booked and to end the year UFC come in on the last Saturday night. Booted out for two months for rodeos and college basketball? This sounds like a terrific place to have a Big Four franchise! Perhaps the NHL will be freethinking enough to also put a team in a city with no arena. I don't see the National Final Rodeo leaving the Thomas and Mack Center, since it brings in a chunk of money to UNLV.
  13. Exactly. They haven't a clue as to what fans like and want. Of course, the shootout can be exciting, but if a game ends in a tie, no one's going to cry because there wasn't a true winner.
  14. The NHL is going gimmicky because they've heard from the media and fans alike: We hate the shootout! The league doesn't want to return to ties. Easy way to fix it, go soccer table scoring: 3 pts for a win, 1 pt for a tie. Overtime win is still 3 pts, no sharing of points!
  15. End the Coyote madness: And say hello to the Quebec Nordiques!!
  16. Canadian tweeters say it was out of left field! Everyone has been taken aback by it. Now when do we hear rumors of the Panthers relocating to Quebec City or Hartford?
  17. Look on the bright side of today's musical chairs: We may have the return of the Manitoba Moose!
  18. You mean they are now the Dragons Glens Falls, according to the logo. No.
  19. Those look like they were MISL I jerseys
  20. Not sure if this was announced here, but the Glens Falls Golden Eagles of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League are now the Glens Falls Dragons
  21. Portland Raiders? Never going to happen. I don't understand why people constantly bring up the city when franchise relocation is at hand. The NFL, MLB, and NHL. There's no stadium large enough right now for a team.
  22. I do not like all the flag desecration uniforms and hats MLB and MiLB are using today and the rest of the weekend.
  23. I've thought of this before, and can't see why it can't work: How come North America does have a hockey-like junior team structure? That would help develop talent.
  24. If there is another vote, Qatar would not be one of the countries on the list. You really believe FIFA would allow them to bid?
