  1. I just started using this site on a phone a few months ago. Of course its different from the pc version. There is a check mark in the upper right corner of every post. I always assumed that was the "like" button. I was thinking about it and I hope that is not the report button. If so, I'm sorry for the silly reports. Clearly I meant to like them.

  2. I'm a total "watcher" of this site. Love the concepts and the stories behind logos. I can't draw or design for :censored:.

But as far as an unpopular opinion goes....

Am I the only one who loves the Chiefs in all red??

I agree. I never want to see them wear white pants at home again.

  3. I feel strongly they will split away. I wonder if they will change how they do things financially. I wonder if they would be more prone to work together. I also wonder who would stay and who would go. I can't imagine a conference would drop someone. I also couldn't imagine someone would want to stay in the current division. All just guesses, though.

I think a lot of us saw this coming. You can't be good without being crooked, it seems. Well, enough of the crooked are finally getting together and saying, "see ya!".

  4. Oh joy. Look guy, I wasn't angry before when replying to Lights Out but your little shtick here is starting to get on my nerves. Lights Out's constant "if it's old it sucka B) " posts get annoying, and that's why I posted what I did. I don't apologize for it, but in retrospect this probably wasn't the right place.

This is what he means. You did the same to me, Cap. Just because I didn't like Detroit's logo. I posted it in this thread for a reason. If you don't agree with someone, you can't be wrong. Opinions no longer mean anything because your word is the word. Then you try to make it out to be the other person fault right before you move to another poster you don't agree with. Chromatic's original post got many likes for a reason.

  5. Been hearing rumors about UVA and Big Ten expansion. Virginia, UNC and others have long been under the microscope for possible Big Ten expansion, but the new wrinkle I'm hearing is related to divisional alignment in the B1G.

The conference has been dragging their feet for a long time on the new divisions. The most talked about option is an East/West split, with Indiana and Purdue carved up. Which school will go to which division is an otherwise (relatively) simple solution, but there's some buzz saying that the Big Ten brass is using this "massively difficult decision" as a stalling technique so they can keep tabs on the Maryland-ACC lawsuit.

It seems pretty likely that the Big Ten would expand again to 16 or more teams, so I'm also forced to believe that they would already have some mock divisional alignments in place. It would be legendarily short-sighted if they didn't.

So, long story short -- if Maryland wins the suit, the B1G is free to raid more ACC schools and possibly lay out their 16/18/20 team alignment plan. If the ACC wins, then the B1G just rolls ahead with the East/West split for now and puts the larger plan on the backburner.

Did you see this? They wont get there unless they leave for the B1G or SEC.

  6. I understand. I still don't like it. Who else did that? The logo still sucks. My point, history makes things jaded.

"The winged wheel logo was actually borrowed from a cycling club in Montreal." Says Bob Duff in his Detroit Red Wings article in Total Hockey: The Official Encyclopedia of the National Hockey League

The team Detroit took the logo from wasn't the originators. They took it from the cycling club.

And I guess it is a bike wheel.

That cycling club WAS Montreal AAA... they called themselves an ATHLETIC association because they played more than one sport.

But auto racing wasn't part of that. My point, it isn't a car wheel.

  7. You're correct. Al Featherstone is not a blogger, just a Duke alum, former longtime Durham sportswriter who has written books on Duke basketball and just now does freelance work for the school, BlueDevil Nation, and other Duke blogs after his paper's downsizing in 2005.

I should say "with content from". A lot of important people quoted in that. Such as current Duke Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Kevin White. But the dfw legend holds true.
