The problem with the Falcons uniform history is there's no glory days associated with any of the uniform eras they went through,

Can you explain to me how a uniform looks better or worse based on its "glory days" or a team's performance while wearing it? I may be in the minority, but I've always believed that the aesthetic quality of uniform is based entirely on, you know, what it looks like.

The Falcons got it right on the first try.

Alright, since I've been talking about it forever, I ran a quick & dirty mock-up of my ideal Falcons uniform with Dark Silver helmet (sans Gold):

Add a Gold outline to the helmet stripe, logo, and the Swoosh & accessory details (like on cleats) if you wanted to go that route.  Either way, this would do it.

(I wouldn't even be completely heartbroken if they added a small 1" tall "ATLANTA" above the number in a clean new non-italic font.)

Solid work, but it's way too dark for a team that plays in a dome.

There’s no Dick involved, but anybody remember Fair Hooker?

Sure do. Got his autograph when I was a kid. There's also this.

    Quote

At one point, Don Meredith couldn’t resist chiming in about the name of a certain Browns wide receiver.

“Isn’t Fair Hooker a great name?” asked Meredith.

    “I pass,” Cosell said.

Meredith allegedly added, “Fair Hooker — I haven’t met one yet.”

Oh dang, all we offered was free food, hot coffee and some gift cards! Clearly I'm operating in the wrong realm over here...

Getting the results you want to get ain't cheap, my friend. The less you pay, the more likely it is that people will tell the truth. Can't have that...not in radio anyway. 😎

That said, the big question I have is: did the Texans use the academic method?

If it's anything like radio research, they posted something about it on their social media pages, offered people lunch, a free hat, a chance at free tickets, and then asked the participants a bunch of leading questions. In other words, I seriously doubt it.

    Y'all are never happy.

One minute y’all love the chargers uniforms then y’all want them to change it back to the navy blue from the 90s.

next y’all complain about the 49ers not having the correct amount of stripes then y’all complain about it needed to go back the way it was.

Then the Bucs stepped away from their time clock numbers, and y'all want them to go ugly 70s kitchen orange again.

    Just STOP!

Not everything old is good. Some things don’t need to be brought back. The Jets finally went back to one of their best-looking sets and log, and here you all are on day one complaining.

    First day here?

Good riddance. I get that he's a Yankees institution and all that, but I couldn't stand him. He was much better on TBS with the Braves back in the 80's.

Reveal pending, I do applaud the Texans for getting fans so involved in the process. 30+ focus groups is plenty of input.

Devil's advocate - what do fans know about design? Do you end up throwing too much at the wall because of so much input?

If it's anything like radio research, the focus group consists of a bunch of people who are there for free food (or money) and will give answers they think will please the people asking the questions.  In other words, it's useless.

There's not too many flame outs anymore, but godsdamned if it's not the best when you can drive someone to an internet-forum meltdown that results in either banishment or voluntary quitting.  There gets a point where you can start to smell the blood in the water, and then it's over.  Some may call it bullying, but it's always the result of someone taking a benign suggestion and going from 0-60 faster than one of Rashee Rice's rentals.

We have too many mods now for a good ol' "blaze of glory" to get any traction. This place had a little more of a wild west flavor to it back in the day when there were fewer moderators.

I actually don't remember that one at all - and now that I've read it, I don't get it.  But OMG the things we used to post about back in the day and the phrases we used.

That was the part of the "Ugliest Bathroom" sub-section which was an ill-fated attempt to allow banned users access to that lone section of the boards. Why it's in the Goldmine is beyond me. It's not even in the discussion of our finest work on these here boards. Putting that thing in the Goldmine with our best work is like putting Who's the Boss on the list of top ten TV shows of all-time.

My personal favorite is when we realigned the calendar. You were on fire in that thread. CCSLC: The HBO Series was pretty good too.

Yeah, but he also posted that at one point, too. I remember that one rather vividly. It was after Josh Hancock drunk texted himself into the back of a parked tow truck, which makes the whole thing even funnier.

STL Fanatic was the one who said it, right? I seem to remember him going to the mats defending Josh Hancock for getting :censored: all drunk and doing a high speed merger with that tow truck.

The line was "I am a Cardinal.", which is arguably funnier than the meme.

If memory serves, someone responded to "I am a Cardinal" with "Today, we are all Cardinals" and the rest is CCSLC history.

  12. We're going to see mono-green more times than anyone should be subjected to (Once is too many times.)  and the BFBS uniform is as pointless as it is ugly. Other than that, the Jets did a great job with these. Huge improvement over the broke-ass Walmart looking previous set.

How many March Madnesseseseseseses are there that every Hooterville in America thinks they can justify building a domed stadium by getting one? I might argue that it's unwise to create a race to the bottom that Indianapolis and New Orleans will generally win anyway.

My guess is we'll have some concerts and stuff at the new place too. Maybe a monster truck show as well. Hell, we might even get Wrestlemania here in Hooterville: Lake Erie Edition.

I think what’s more likely to happen is the rebirth of Greg Maddox-ish pitchers, who have outstanding command and can be amazing without needing to throw 100.

I’m just happy I finally picked the correct champ in my bracket! Granted, it was about as obvious as Oppenheimer winning best picture, but it was still fun.

I managed to get it right with Purdue making the title game.  I also had UConn losing to Baylor because I'm an idiot.
