  1. No argument there. At least MLB hasn't quite reached the NFL level of absurd championship rings. I haven't gotten to see a Giants ring on someone's hand yet but in the pictures it looks like it might actually be small enough to wear.
  2. They seem pretty easy to get. Take a look. You know, $250 as a gag gift for the winner of a league is not that bad provided everybody chip in at the beginning of the season or everybody else pays for the winner. I have a feeling that there are plenty of people out there who don't see those rings as a gag gift.
  3. If I had a World Series Ring they'd have to cut my hand off to stop me from wearing it.
  4. If you don't mind it being made out of a metal called Lasium and using CZ for the diamonds, you can get a ring like that for around 400-600 bucks. There are a bunch of places that have the templates already made. You just add your team name, year, league etc. Custom designed with your logo etc. they run about 600-800 bucks. Less if you buy more than 12.
  5. Is that definitely the ring or just one of many designs they maybe considering? I ask because, as someone has already pointed out, it looks a lot like the Patriots SB ring, and because teams usually get bids from various jewelers. In any case, I think that ring design looks too...I don't know...feminine I guess? Despite the fact that it's shaped like a football, it just doesn't look like a football ring to me.
  6. It makes just as much sense as thinking it's ok to buy a counterfeit jersey. As a counterfeiter I don't really care about the particulars of your logo. I'm stealing it and making money off something that doesn't belong to me. Do you think I care that you may have sold it to someone else and made your money? I'm just using your stuff as an example of how it's all wrong.
  7. Well said. It simply floors me that so many people think this kind of thing is no big deal. Especially here of all places.
  8. Do the designers get residual payments for every jersey with their logo or design sold? Or are they payed a one-time fee for their work? After downloading "The Penalty Box" and giving it a listen I've decided I really like your show so whether you like it or not I'm going air it on my radio station. We're also going to print up t-shirts and bumper stickers using your logo. We're getting the shirts made for 5 bucks and selling them for $25. The bumper stickers are costing us around 8 cents and we're selling them for $2. Since we're not paying you or your partner a salary or for the rights to your show we're really happy with the profit margin on both the commercials and the merchandise sales. Also, we need you to replace 97.9 with AM 1340 on this. And we'll need you to replace "Edge.FM" with AM 1340 on this. Keep up the good work and thanks for the free programming. No one in this thread has a problem with any of this right?
  9. Back in the 80's I was living in Toledo and working at a hotel not far from where the Mud Hens played. A scout from the Reds came in to our hotel and he was wearing his '75 and '76 World Series rings. I commented on them and he let me try on both of them. It was pretty cool to have a World Series ring on each hand for a minute or two. As a joke, I asked him what would happen if I ran out the door with his rings. He said "Nothing. I've got three more at home." He had coached with the 70's A's and scouted for the '83 Orioles. The guy had five World Series rings. These are the two I got to wear.
  10. Yeah. It couldn't just be that jerseys are comfortable and make for good "lounging around" wear. Now asking people about how to take a piss while wearing a certain style of underwear or dispensing advice on "man rules?" That's the stuff "grown ass men" do. (for those that don't know, I'm referencing some of the "man type" stuff BBTV has brought up in the past) Never in my entire life have I thought I'm "actually on the team" while wearing a jersey. Nor is wearing a jersey "fulfilling some childhood fantasy." They're big and comfortable and I like how they look. Sue me.
  11. Hi. My name is infrared41 and I don't think the ball-in-glove logo is anything special. Didn't care for it when it was their primary logo. Don't care for it now. Sorry.
  12. Same here. I also think the Cleveland Browns look great. That's a very unpopular opinion around here. But the one that sets me apart? The fact that I think this... is by far and away the best look the Rams have ever used.
  13. If that's the best you can do then you really need to remove that Ohio State logo from your sig.
  14. Call me crazy but I don't see Utah doing too many 12-0 seasons playing a Pac-10 conference schedule. Not for a while anyway. Still, good for you Wasatch and good for your Utes.
  15. Other than Michigan it's true. Yes with RRod, we shall be 5 out of 10 until he is fired. OSU on the other hand will still be 0 for in my eyes You know the trash talk will continue until one of us dies lol Who are you trying to kid? We both know this will carry over into the afterlife.
  16. The Big Ten could have 28 teams and they're still going to call it The Big Ten. Yes it's silly but it's also a brand name that I don't think they're willing to mess with.
  17. Isn't 1pm Hawaii time like 4am the day before yesterday in eastern time? No, its 7 Pm. It was a joke son. A joke...

  19. I think it would be in their best interest to make a run at the two Utah schools, Utah and BYU. Both schools put a better product on the field year-in and year-out than any other school in the Big XII region. That's a good move as well although Utah is rumored to be headed to The PAC-10 if The Big XII stays intact. TCU is another good option. In any case, if Texas and A&M stick around, The Big XII could actually turn this whole thing into a real positive. They could end up a being better conference when it's all said and done. This is getting interesting.
  20. If the Big XII were smart they'd grab Boise State and TCU to replace Colorado and Nebraska.
  21. I did indeed. I stand corrected on that point.
  22. Just imagine... Boise State (assuming they get left out of the breakaway mega-conferences) winning the NCAA football national championship... in a playoff! In the meantime, others here have argued that the rise of mega-conferences would mean fewer non-conference games vs. mid-majors. I think it will go a step further: fewer non-conference games, period. Remember there are only 11-12 games per team per season, and bigger conferences make it that much harder to have every team play each of its conference rivals at least once per season. Furthermore, games within a mega-conference will be more attractive to TV networks than non-conference games vs. teams from less competitive conferences, or even from other mega-conferences. (As it is now, inter-BCS-conference games are compelling mainly because of their BCS implications, but with mega-conferences the same thing can be had without scheduling outside the conference, so intersectional regular-season games just become redundant.) You're kidding right? Unless Boise State ends up in one of the mega-conferences they may as well drop down to the FCS level and be done with it. How you guys can realize that this conference jumping is all about money yet still believe that the "outsider" conference schools are going to get a shot at anything is amusing to me. Boise State does everything well except make huge amounts of money and get great TV ratings. Why on Earth would these new mega-conferences, which we all admit are nothing more than a cash grab, have any interest in having a playoff that involves teams that aren't part of the new cash flow. Can someone explain to me how schools like Boise State and Utah will benefit in any way from these mega-conferences if they aren't a member of those conferences? If there is a playoff it is simply not going to include "mid-majors." I've said it more times than I can remember at this point but I'll say it again... There is simply no way that any playoff that's part of this new mega-conference system, which again we all admit is about money, is going to include a Boise State at the expense of one of their own. That's more true now than it was before all this started. You guys think all this stuff is a good thing for the "BCS busters." The truth is it's the kiss of death for them. It may take a few years but you can count on it. Just look at the second sentence in bold to see why. In a climate that's all about money how are schools that aren't making any money going to survive?
  23. Not being a fan of the 1919 Chicago White Sox, I try not to advocate getting paid to lose games. Doesn't seem very sporting. It's not but we all know that "sporting" has very little to do with sports.
