  1. I'm not crazy about teal either, but I feel like it will barely be noticeable from a distance. Depends on what color the numbers will be and what the shorts look like, I guess.
  2. By far the best alternate the Pistons have had in years (even though that’s not saying much.) Hopefully this is a precursor to dropping the terrible gray jerseys and bringing back a red option as the statement in subsequent seasons.
  3. I noticed the first use of the City (i.e. mixtape) jerseys is in early November for most teams, so the official unveilings must be coming soon. In past years, City editions didn’t seem to drop until around Thanksgiving.
  4. Outside of the Heat abomination, these mashup jerseys are head and shoulders above pretty much anything that's come out of the City program since its inception.
  5. That’s the argument I always hear the younger crowd make. To me, there is a difference between boring and classic. Making changes just to “try something different” is never a good idea. That’s how the Pistons ended up in teal for 5 years back in the 90s. I thought their lesson was learned but management under Tom Gores has been so inept I am pretty afraid for what lies ahead.
  6. I think I could be more on board with it if it didn’t have that giant superimposed logo. Maybe red keys too instead of the whole no paint thing which is best left to the mid 2000s, kind of an inverse of the (sadly) now old court. Let’s not talk about the 313 court.. It feels like everything the Pistons do with their branding is catering to the 15 year old crowd on Instagram, chasing fire emojis.
  7. Good lord, I want to vomit. Why are the Pistons so awful with managing their brand? Edit: Didn't see this was already posted but apparently I can't delete this.
  8. Well, we’ll see. No City edition is what I got out of it from the follow up tweet about Phoenix and Utah opting out of the mashup jersey and retaining last year’s City edition instead. That was actually in response to my (rarely used) Twitter account. I’m hoping it means he agrees about getting the Pistons to bring back the reds. Teal or Maroon classic edition was already all but confirmed for 2022-23 in a previous report.
  9. Hallelujah to no City Edition this coming season. Hopefully the mash up jerseys are respectable; I don’t see how they could be worse than the majority of City jerseys have been.
  10. From the Pistons' equipment manager prepping Cade Cunningham's jersey for his introductory presser: I didn't realize names and numbers were heat pressed on authentics these days. Interesting.
  11. Sorry but the City edition is making you a liar in regards to the Pistons: I'd rather not know this existed too..
  12. Saw this on Reddit. Not sure how reliable it is.. https://www.reddit.com/r/DetroitPistons/comments/ono5i3/ticket_reps_are_confirming_new_court_for_2122/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf Assume it would be a City edition as mentioned. Changing the classic court would be a disaster..
  13. No opinion needed, that was a fact on the Bad Boys era logo. Staying on the Pistons, is there anything to this that you know of @Conrad.? Or just an inaccurate render? Not sure I’d dig a Knicks-esque City edition court. https://www.nba.com/pistons/tickets/courtside-club
  14. I'm pretty used to the font as it's been used since 1996 (wow 25 years!), but I can definitely see how it would cause consternation to a design professional. With that longevity, it's probably not going away though. I am somewhat optimistic with the #1 pick coming in and how the team seems to be much better managed since the turn of the decade that some good stuff might finally be happening with the alternates in the coming years.
  15. As a secondary logo, absolutely. Please don’t touch the primary logo, though. One of the few (maybe the only) branding/design decisions they got right during the 2010s.
  16. I actually do like the blue pants with the white tops, as someone who lives in the Michigan/Detroit area.
  17. The team president has been hinting at new jerseys when the 5 year rule is up. Personally, I don't think the Lions set is that bad, it's definitely the best they've had this millennium since the Barry Sanders era jerseys. It could use some tweaks, sure - probably de-italicizing or getting a new number font, getting rid of the gray color rush, and maybe making the face mask blue, but it's not at all terrible, IMO.
  18. New jersey sponsor for the Pistons beginning next season: https://www.freep.com/story/money/business/2021/06/03/uwm-logo-detroit-pistons-jerseys/7504513002/ Actually looks somewhat less obtrusive than the Flagstar patch on the Association jerseys:
  19. One of the Pistons' beat writers put out an article a few years ago that made it sound like teal era Classic editions are coming for the 2022-23 season. He all but officially confirmed them in the article. Unclear if it will be the teal or the maroon ones. If this is the case, I doubt the City edition will be teal for next season. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/nba/pistons/2019/11/18/detroit-pistons-tantalizing-teal-jerseys-could-hit-court-again-2022/4228726002/ God, I hope so but doubt it. Personally I've pretty much given up hope on the Pistons ever bringing back the reds. It's been almost 15 years since they discontinued them and the powers that be there seem to love those terrible gray ones, for whatever reason.
  20. As a Pistons fan, I always appreciate the fact that Jack McCloskey was able to swindle Laimbeer from Stepien because he preferred a Polish player on his team. https://www.nba.com/amp/pistons/features/big-deal-pistons-beat-midnight-deadline-swindle-cavs-out-bill-laimbeer
  21. I thought one of @Conrad.’s concepts captured a potential Mavs update pretty well. It seems like Mark Cuban and the management want to stay on the 2001 branding while the fan base wants a return to green. This would be a pretty good compromise, IMO.
  22. It’s strange; I would never be caught dead wearing a v-neck t-shirt over a crew neck, yet for some reason I always liked the wishbone on basketball jerseys. Guess I was the right age at the right time when those debuted - I was a big fan of all the Nike ones that were introduced around that time (Lakers, Raptors, Mavs, Heat, Pistons) which all used similar design elements for the most part. The Mavs have probably aged the worst, but the Lakers, Heat, and Pistons were all based on older classic jerseys so they’ve held up over time IMO, with the Heat and Pistons still being in use to the current day.
  23. I've noticed that Bally's has made the gray space under the scorebug somewhat if not totally transparent, which helps a little. Still holding out hope that that they will eliminate the continuous out of town scores ticker, although that's probably unlikely.
  24. I've said it before but the Kobe/Shaq era jerseys will always be the best Lakers jerseys to me. I still don't fully understand why they felt the need to change in 2018. That incarnation transitioned fine to the Nike Aeroswift template in 2017. https://www.nba.com/lakers/news/170808-lakers-nike-uniforms
