  1. I don't think the new arena is capable of hosting hockey in Sacramento.
  2. I'll take it that Vegas would presumably be in the Pacific next year(or year after)?
  3. It's official: the Old Pueblo will be getting an AHL team! http://tucson.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/city-council-approves-deal-with-coyotes-for-ahl-hockey-in/article_2ba5f3d1-17ae-5b4f-a53a-cb5b743a6b72.html
  4. Reminds me of Fear the Fin after the Jets Katy Perry chant, just whining and whining about how it demeans women, etc. It was a silly chant, nothing more. Also they seem to not like people who don't want sports and politics to mix. Yeah, like when I watch and/or read about hockey and other sports I also want to hear about the hornets nest that are political issues.
  5. Apparently, first time ever tonight in baseball that the home teams were perfect.
  6. The Canadian dollar was very bad and the team was losing money.
  7. Wouldn't the league want to expand into say Quebec for the humongous expansion fees?
  8. adding: Might it be time to dispense with some of the tropes about how hockey players are both The Toughest Men Alive and The Realest Dudes? Because to me they all sound really cunty. Like, do these guys want to play anywhere? Toronto sucks because there's too much pressure. New Jersey sucks because there's not enough pressure. You can't play for Phoenix because they might move to Canada. You can't play for Winnipeg because they're already in Canada. Edmonton is too small. New York is too big. Buffalo is too cold. Florida is too hot. Montreal is too French. Quebec is so French that it's off the map altogether. Where do these coked-up pricks want to be? I'm sorry we couldn't cut the whole league down to Los Angeles, Carolina, and Anaheim, the only three locales that I haven't heard associated with any sort of bitching. I do remember I think McCarthy saying that Jack Johnson was very happy to leave LA and go to Columbus.
  9. Arco still does, but I believe it takes 15 hours to setup the rink. I would believe the new arena is at least minor hockey friendly, though not sure.
  10. A recent winner of "Americas most miserable city" Stockton is.
  11. Las Vegas runs ad for potential hockey team during the Super Bowl. http://m.thn.com/blog/las-vegas-ownership-group-gets-serious-with-super-bowl-ad-for-ticket-drive/
  12. I remember it was weird when Nabokov was claimed by the Wings, but then wound up on the Island.
  13. Well actually having money has never been a requirement for owning a NHL team before. Why start now?Not just that, but were universally panned as being the worst owners in the NBA, if not all of sports, and pretty much gave the middle finger to the fanbase for the last 6 years of their ownership.
  14. http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2014/11/12/7210411/nhl-expansion-las-vegas-owners The Aloof family is one of the prospective owners of a Las Vegas expansion team. The NHL has pulled off the impossible, how frickin dumb can you be even thinking about putting those clowns in as owners.
  15. Even in like 2009, I think the Giants had a game that the highlights I saw were from mlb.tv shown on the news.(vs Rockies in early May)
  16. Thomas Vanek involved in money laundering scheme: http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2014/10/31/7136467/thomas-vanek-money-laundering-scheme-gambling-minnesota-wild
  17. I think someone with the Cats on the news said that nothing will change with the team with the exception of the players if they switch affiliations. The Grizzlies probably would have to though, being they're black and orange. I remember when they first played in Fresno, they were purple and black, then for a few years they were something different(forgot what it was), before being the colors of the Giants.
  18. LOL tweet from Coyotes: Halfway thru OT, chants of Let's Go #Coyotes met w/ chants by the #NHLJets contingent. A playoff-like atmosphere at tonight's game.
  19. I'd say Tucson or Bakersfield should get a team because those cities DMA's are bigger then Winnipeg's.
  20. "It's a testament to the fanbase that the Coyotes are still in Arizona". Uh............
