  1. I will never see any value in buying a fake, ESPECIALLY one with a patch. Far too often I see blue Vikes jerseys with the ship patch and have to hold back vomit.

Not a patch moron...direct embroidery...and to every one of you out there. The numbers were not "bubbly" when I got it ...it was 6 years of wear and tear. You you guys could not tell a fake from a real one if it hit you in the nose. And NOT a single one of you own a "real" jersey unless you got it from the locker rooms...they are all replicas...some cost $300 and some cost $20 and they are made by the same people on the same production line in China or S. Korea. And you can argue IP theft all you want. But when you do...make sure you never photocopied a page from a text book, or downloaded a song from the net...or copied a song off a friends CD. Quit trying to justify dropping a half a car payment on a shirt then realizing ... :censored: I could have gotten the same for $20. This was in response to a post about how they "fall apart in the wash"...BULL :censored:! And I wanna see a NFL locker room jersey that has been washed 180 times and worn for 6 years. Guess what...they don't exist...because they all get new ones every season. And I want ONE...just ONE of you to post a "authentic" Ravens jersey that is 6 years old...with 180 washes....and let's compare. I doubt it will happen...because it would look just like this one...and you will have proven my point. So please...anyone of you post your 6 year old well worn $250-300 jersey on here, and lets just see the quality over time...because this is what it was all about.

  2. Ok, I have to admit it to someone. I broke down and bought two fakes today. An Aaron Rodgers green jersey with the Super Bowl patch and a Bucs red Josh Freeman jersey. I have a few fakes that I purchased from fan fests that looked so spot on it was hard to initially tell they were fake (Peyton and Eli Super Bowl jerseys), and I have one or two I've bought that look pretty iffy but I haven't been able to find that particular player anywhere else (Mike Alstott white, my absolute favorite player of all time). I expect the Aaron Rodgers jersey to be really close, and the Freeman jersey to be a bit spotty, but still not awful.

I know the objections, and I agree with a lot of the points. But IMO the quality of fan jerseys have plummeted over the years and the price has done nothing but go up. When I saw the Gronkowski jersey that was posted in a thread earlier that was a terribly flimsy screen printed jersey that cost $100 or more it really outraged me. A bunch of you won't agree with my decision to support the fake market, and I don't blame you. But when there is a wider selection of jerseys available than the NFL shop offers, and when the quality is miles better than the screen printed shirts they offer for 1/5 of the price, it's hard to turn down. With all of the negatives of the counterfeit world, I hope it at least forces the NFL to offer a quality product for a more reasonable price. The market is so monopolized on jerseys it's almost insulting what they charge for such low quality crap. I know it's a rogue market with a TON of problems, but I hope it can at least force the NFL's hand in offering quality products.

I'm not trying to convince anyone, and I know some of you will always be firmly against the idea, and your entitled to feel that way and rightfully should. But for as bad as these fake markets are, I like that they at least give people the choice and maybe in some inadvertent way, it can be a good thing. If the quality was better and the price was more reasonable, I would never turn to the fake jersey market.

Not that I care one way or another what you do with your money. I'll tell you that if you like details you will probably not be happy with the Freeman jersey. The ship patches on the arms of the fake ones look really bad. You can easily tell they're a fakes, which might not be a big deal what other people think, but it would bother me personally that they look so bad. The Buccaneers scrips on the center chest usually looks really bad too.

You can get away with fakes with teams like the Packers and Colts and Raiders, teams like that. But with detailed patches and scripts like the Bucs, that is when you can really tell the poor quality.

Well my Ray Lewis jersey is 6 years old now, gets worn every game day and quite a few other days. I have out grown it, so the lovely wears it quite a bit now. And it has held up great...aside from a few wing stains and some BBQ spots on the front is is a great shirt and a better value. Piracy and IP theft caused the music industry to reign in the prices of the CD's and DVD's I hope this does the same. And I will even post pictures of what a 6 year old Chinese knock off looks like...

  3. So how about this scenario - I know that I've posted about the guy here who got prison time for selling counterfeit jerseys. I just found out that they are now selling a group of those at a local resale shop (no idea of the price, but I think I'll stop to check it out on Monday). Interesting development that I'll have to check out...

Somebody got time? I thought we were told there is no legal issue here?

I don't think there's isn't a legal issue. I think the point is that a lot of people just don't think it's a "crime" that should necessarily be given so much attention. People break the law everyday, hell, you break the law everyday, though you don't like to admit it.

So speeding and intentionally violating intellectual property laws are equally as bad? I'm sure you probably think jay walking and murder are on the same page too, eh?

There's a reason we have "misdemeanors" and "felonies"....

That is quite a leap saying that violating IP laws and murder are the same. To me it is more like prostitution, more of a moral issue. So far not one of you defending the IP view on this has shown any examples of a designer getting paid less because they are making counterfeit jerseys in China. And so far no one here has posted how the loss of revenue because of the sale of counterfeit jerseys as affected the income of the big 4 leagues. And so far no one has posted how the only reason a "authentic" NFL jersey is worth $300 is because of the existence of counterfeit jerseys. Actually there are no "authentic" jerseys for sale in any store on line or at the mall, because unless it is game worn and taken from the locker room it is just a replica. So we are arguing over levels of quality in a replica jersey, and whether there should be a monopoly on $300 jerseys. Look if a company in china can make money selling a jersey for $20, just imagine how much money is being made by selling the same jersey for $300. And I bet most of you all were pro Occupy folks as well, yet have no issue with the leagues ripping of the masses in the name of "authenticity". Oh and how many of you call the cops on your friends or neighbors smoking or selling weed?

  4. I think this is the best logo the Pistons had.

    444.gif

Hell yeah. Although I've never been too big of a fan of taking recolored old logos and calling it new...this was nice and is still better than their current logo, mainly because of the fact that I dig the fact that there are actually pistons in the logo. It was the perfect upgrade to the "Bad Boys" Pistons identity, both in logo & uniforms.

Too bad they had to ruin it by updating the boring logo from back then and somehow making it bland & adding that red alternate for a couple of years. That was a mess, IMO.

Am I missing something. I see a horse, flames, basketball a wordmark and a tail pipe. Where are the pistons?

  5. Hated the original Ravens logo.

Loved the "Burger King" kings look. I always wonder how that would have looked in black.

Loved Cooperalls. Come on who plays on ice with short pants?

Thought the Michigan Panthers, Jacksonville Bulls and Pittsburgh Maulers were some of the best football helmets ever.

Hate the Penn State football uniform.

Loved the Will Clark era SF away jerseys.

Love the Caps...Hate both the original and current logos.

Logoless football helmets are dumb at every level.

Sorry but the powder blue Chargers jerseys are crap.

  6. Sorry to break up the fun, but I have a bit of "real" pointless realignment that local radio was talking about. Driving home yesterday some DJs were talking about how they believe Selig proposed the floating realignment mostly as a way for the Rays to compete and bring in more fans. Selig doesn't want to look bad that a team is failing and with more success he believes a new stadium would have to be built. (Thats their theory, not mine.) They made a simple suggestion which I actually kind of like. Just swap the Rays and Nationals. The Rays then get more natural rivals in Miami and Atlanta and Philly and the Mets will still bring in good crowds, although not as good as Yankees and Red Sox. The Nationals in turn get to play Baltimore more and the added crowds that NYY and BOS bring in.

Of course, the downside of their plan is that then Washington is in the same situation as the Rays.

I'm not sure if BAL-WSH is considered one large market in the context of sports, but if so, there would be little chance that MLB would want them in the same league.

You bring up something that I thought about...See I live in the Balt/DC market and EVERY one here views it as 2 separate markets with 2 separate cultures (for the lack of a better term). BUT with that being said I could see how the rest of the US could now view it as one huge entity. The same way I guess us east coasters view LA. We see LA as being one massive city and really don't get why a team in Anaheim is not considered LA, and San Jose and Oakland is not San Fransisco. Do the rest of you view Balt/Wash as one market? Do you view LA/Anaheim and SF/SJ/OAK as one single market too?

  7. I don't understand having rings unless it's for the champion. Maybe that's just me.

Well I can see having the ring. But does any player wear them? Who wants to be reminded you almost won it all? I know that most players also receive a replica that they will wear if they feel so inclined. I think older players tend to wear them more. But I just cannot think a player would wear a league or conference championship ring.

I can't believe that wasn't on the list! I thought the pic of Bobby Orr was interesting because that jersey was very from fitting. Which shows RBK didn't need to reinvent the wheel, just cut the jerseys tighter. Not a knock on the thread starter but wasn't there a similar thread on this posted about a year ago? This could be a fun one to keep going.

Here is one that should have been on the list for sure...
