  1. I'm surprised it hasn't been put up yet.

Chris Creamer breaking the news about the new Alouettes logo...

Reposted by the CFL on their Facebook page.

I think it's pretty sweet, and huge upgrade from the old angry bird logo, which I always hated.

The downside is that apparently it's going to be worn on the top of the helmet.

7 different former starting QBs for the Browns have found themselves as No. 2 backups on other teams for the 2018-19 NFL season:

    - DeShone Kizer (Green Bay), started 15 last season for Cleveland as a rookie last season

    - Cody Kessler (Jacksonville), started 8 games for Cleveland in 2016

    - Colt McCoy (Washington), started 21 games between 2010 and 2011 for Cleveland.

    - Josh McCown (New York Jets), started 11 games between 2015 and 2016 for Cleveland

    - Brian Hoyer (New England), started 16 games between 2013 and 2014 for Cleveland

    - Brandon Weeden (Houston), started 20 games for Cleveland between 2012 and 2013

    - Robert Griffin III (Baltimore), started 5 games for Cleveland in 2016

The Miami Dolphins have tabbed former Browns QB, Brock Osweiler, who never played a regular season down for Cleveland, with No. 2 Backup duties.

The Washington Redskins had another former Cleveland starter, Kevin Hogan (1 game in 2017) as the No. 3 QB, but he was part of cut downs to final rosters yesterday.*

The Seattle Seahawks have Austin Davis as the No. 3 QB who started 2 games for Cleveland in 2015

*- UPDATE: Kevin Hogan has been claimed off waivers by Denver and in return released Paxton Lynch. I'd suspect Hogan will be the No. 2 behind Case Keenum, bringing the number of former Browns starters as backups to 8.

If you want to include the CFL, it's up to 9.

Johnny Manziel (Hamilton/Montreal), started 8 games for Cleveland 2014-2015

No they are wearing different logos through out their history this year

Yeah, but I thought that meant they were going to go back to their regular helmet logo rather than this very simplified, de-birded, uni-colour version.  After this year, are they going to keep it as their regular look, or go back once again to the logo they had last year?

  4. Cinderella Man tops my list (and not because I worked on it.)

Bend it Like Beckham (and I hate soccer, but great story and major props for avoiding sports movie cliches.)

    Bull Durham

    The Natural

    Slap Shot

    And one television series"

Playmakers (and not because I worked on this either, and ESPN should be ashamed of themselves for cancelling it...)

  5. I find it interesting that the three teams that have announced their relocation to Los Angeles have all at some point in their franchise history called that city home. For those that actually follow the NFL, what are the chances that three will actually relocate there?

As a huge fan of Blade Runner, I approve of this gif....

  6. The Leafs have had the text inside the maple leaf ever since becoming the Maple Leafs. That's part of the brand. It needs to stay.

That is the worst reason to do anything. Doing something done badly for 90 years doesn't mean you should continue doing it.

A good logo should be graphical representation not a literal statement as is the case with the leafs logo, especially with the unnecessary redundancy of it being a maple leaf and having the words Maple Leafs inside of it (as if the fact that it's a maple leaf logo wasn't enough of a clue.) Either go blank, or have the letter T in the middle representing Toronto, doesn't needed to be anymore complex than that.

  7. I seriously had no inkling that this was even in the pipeline, but now that I've had a chance to digest this after the horror of seeing this show up on my Facebook news feed....

This commits the greatest sin of design imaginable, it's dull and boring, made worse when it stands next the boldness of the previous logo. I could have come up with this using MS Paint. It's like something you would slap on a jar of mayonnaise. You don't want to be known as the mayonnaise of sports leagues.

If they wanted to dull it down a bit, they could have gone with a simple shield logo like the NFL, NHL and MLS. They could have gone with a version of what the CFLPA uses which would be a black and red version of what MLB and the NBA uses.

As someone who is passionate about the CFL, I'm utterly horrified...

  8. Mississauga Steelheads unveil new logo

Meh. It's not bad, but it's not good. Lateral move from the old logo, IMO.

I would have to disagree, the old logo was a standard cliche of a minor hockey logo (city name in small font, nickname in large font, mascot bursting over top of it.) Here it creates a more pleasing shape that will make it easier to identify, sort of like an offset nested roundel. It also simplifies the fish design and removes the Steelheads name. It's a big step up.

  9. While a new stadium was being built, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats were at Alumni Stadium in Guelph for 2013

I think that's actually a game featuring Guelph and what looks like Western. Nash61 had already posted a pic of an actual game there showing Hamilton in their home blacks against the checkerboard end zone of Guelph. However I have a better example....

    It's still an awesome gif...

  10. Oh, the Canadian contingent should be ashamed of themselves.

I wasn't able to find the pictures I was looking for--I didn't just want to post any old picture for the sake of it.

Oh I appreciate that. It's funny that I was able to find more pictures related to the Tiger-Cats win in 1972 than I could the Argonauts win in 1991.

But then again 90% of the pics in this thread are random sport pics of a player that person likes.

  11. Also, pictured Ticat is Luke Tasker, Steve Tasker's son.

    Thank you Rod Black.... :P

In addition to your example, The Tiger-Cats also played three games at McMaster when the construction of THF ran late...

And we might get another one later this year. If the Toronto Blue Jays make the playoffs, then the Toronto Argonauts might be playing their home game(s) at Tim Hortons Field.

  12. Although his pro career was not quite on par with his collegiate years (despite posting a pair of 1000+ yard seasons in his NFL career), Raghib "Rocket" Ismail gave us this lasting impression of his TD romp in the 1991 Grey Cup during his brief CFL stay:

I saw examples like this online, but it's still not "The Moment"....stupid internet....

  13. Has someone already posted the Rocket Ishmail beer can return?

Oooo, that's a good one, but I couldn't find an example online (apart from one tiny avatar sized one) that shows his outstretched hands and the beer can fizzing behind him...

But I did remember another one....

    1972 Angelo Mosca's last game....

There are a lot of Mosca pictures over the years, '63 Grey Cup hit on Flemming, his kiss with Garney Henley with the Grey Cup after that same '72 game, his wrestling career, the fight with Joe Kapp recently, but the picture above is what best exemplifies the theme of this thread.
