  1. It would have been nice if the USA Today article actually went into detail about the sinkhole instead of just showing pictures. Bane was behind it...
  2. Guernsey usually only refers to Australian football. All other sports in the country use jersey. As far as the names on the jumpers it is obviously being introduced to try and sell more to kids but I don't like it. It makes the jumpers look even more crowded and reduces the size of the number which is the best identifier of players for commentators and spectators.Hmmm...interesting. I can't help but wonder if it started out as play on the word jersey which also happens to be a type of cow as a way differentiate it as being sleeveless. It reminds me of the NHL during the '70s when it became mandated to have names on the back of the sweaters. The Toronto Maple Leafs were the last hold out and at one point had the lettering of the names the same colour as the background. The team owner, Harold Ballard, thought having the names on the back cut into sales of hockey programs...
  3. Is that how you guys spell jerseys? I find it funny because here, guernsey is a type of cow....
  4. Cookies and cream ice cream that comes in a container that looks like a fireball from Street Fighter II? Sign me up. Dragon Fruit has a nice subtle flavour to it, similar to Kiwi. However the price one has to pay for it over here doesn't make it really worth it.
  5. Honestly I was expecting better, something retro looking along the same lines as Hamilton and Toronto. They're not the ugliest uniforms, not even the ugliest uniforms in the CFL, but they're uninteresting. I also hate that they have a second helmet. I really hate that trend, just pick a look and stick with it...
  6. I came on here to see what else could possible be said on page 113 about the Bucs new look.... Apparently it's come down to: "It looks great!" "No it doesn't!" "Yes, it does!" "No, it doesn't"
  7. What happened to the Silverdome going topless thread? I posted a joke picture comparing a picture of the Silverdome as it currently looks to the series Life After People. Later I came back to ask a serious question about the requirements for a MLS franchise and the the thread seems to have completely disappeared. It hasn't been graveyarded. Have I gone nuts? Am I going blind? Did I just dream the whole thing?
  8. I'm surprised this wasn't posted already. The first sneak peek (for what it's worth)...
  9. A CFL expansion franchise that was to be based out of Halifax was going to be called the Atlantic Schooners. Sadly the stadium never got built so the team never became official...
  10. I just heard about it. Looking forward to it...
  11. Well the mini-camps have opened as we inch towards the start of a new season. The two newest stadiums are still being worked on as the push is on to get it completed on time... Lansdowne renewal continues apace towards July 18 Redblacks home opener New stadium will be ready for Ticats home opener: builder It's looks like Tim Hortons Field be looking a little Ivor Wynne for the home opener, but I'm sure it will only invoke feelings of nostalgia in the fans... What is interesting is that Ottawa RubyGlooms will be in the first game of new stadiums in consecutive weeks...
  12. The thing is, the renovations are not taking place until after 2017. The deal renewal was actually January of last year. I suspect the combination of the lowest attendance to date plus the out cry not just from Bills fans but Bills players caused the management to reconsider. It wasn't because of finances, Rogers had no trouble pouring more money into it, and the Bills weren't losing any money over it but the optics were bad for the team. The only reason not come out and say it is strictly for diplomacy reasons.
  13. IMO, they have one of the strongest brands in sports with that orange helmet. They fought to keep the helmet from going to Baltimore. They're not going to change the helmet nor they should they. Only in the minds of Cleveland fans. IMHO it's not a strong brand, it's a non-brand, one that is mocked by others. The only reason they keep the orange helmet is tradition, not because it looks good. Much like the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers, it doesn't matter how strong the rebrand concept is, people are going to hate it because it's different.
  14. That only looks terrible because it was paired with a blue and yellow jersey. You put a orange and white stripe on it, with the current Browns uniforms, it will look snazzy. I've seen concepts on here that do that and they look fantastic.
  15. My feeling is that "suspended" is code for "we're walking away from that dumpster fire and we're not coming back". From what I heard of the plans for the Skydome, they plan on either removing the movable seating and putting in fixed seating or simply anchoring the movable seating into a permanent baseball configuration. It's a shame really. I've been to two football games there and had a great time both times. Went to the Vanier Cup in 2012 and the Eastern Final last year and thought the atmosphere was fantastic, I enjoyed the comfort and the amenities and had no real trouble with the sight lines. Could easily follow the games and even when my view was blocked, I could see what I was missing on the Jumbotron. It seems like Rogers is trying to go all-in with the Blue Jays by sacrificing stadium flexibility and revenue streams. So it's a little ironic to see BMO going the opposite direction. But then again Rogers has a habit of spinning gold into straw, at least with it's sports properties....
  16. Honestly, the helmet is the one thing they should change, even if it's just from orange to brown. They are the Cleveland Browns, not the Cleveland Oranges....
  17. Bruce has been wearing out welcomes for some time now. Toronto, Hamilton, B.C., and now Montreal. Of course now that he's on the down slope of his career, I seriously doubt another team will pick him up...
  18. It's no different than the advertisements they put on buses that cover the windows, there are small holes in the image. From the outside, the picture looks intact, from the inside people can still see outside, and the effect is a bit like looking through tinted windows.
  19. Am I the only one that looks at these uniforms and thinks that somebody lost a paintball fight?
  20. My prediction for the uniforms is a brown and orange version of the LA Kiss....
  21. Well there is also ones for the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats. I of course have the Hamilton one, with the old logo...
  22. Reading the Game Day Threads on HF is one of the single most depressing things one can do. You can't help but weep for humanity...
