Supposedly a Jazz beat writer has said that the Jazz will not be bringing back yellow next year. If the 5 year rule is legit I would assume this means the black becomes the icon.

However the beat writer said the rumors are that it will be a mountain jersey presumably in black, purple and white (yay kings)

Still better than what they are wearing.

If I had my way, I’d add a little Light Blue and maybe Copper and call it a day, at least with the based-off-the-modern-mountain look they’re talking here.

I’m also intrigued with a New Orleans Hornets-esque Purple/Light Blue/Gold look as well if going all the way back to the drawing board.

Good: Unis will primarily be Honolulu Blue

Could go either way: Multiple pants options

Makes me nervous: Players who’ve seen the uniforms give them rave reviews

Sounds like there’s no black alternate, so at least that’s a relief.

Ravens wore these during practice last year- makes me wonder if they go this route with the black uni--

Paraphrasing: "The Ravens organization feel that it  has maintained a classic look with the main home/road uniforms and don't plan on tinkering with them."

That might be the best news I've heard regarding NFL uniforms in a long time. Baltimore has their flaws, but I'd much, much rather keep everything--sad bird head with shoehorned B included, IMO the weakest part of the Ravens identity--the same, warts and all, over any drastic changes to the whole set. That statement also implies that nothing huge is happening to the alternates either, which should be good news overall.

  4. I know it’ll never happen (due to 20+ years of brand equity), but the more I think of it, the more I like the Texans and Titans effectively swapping their color schemes (provided the Titans go primarily Red and the Texans go primarily Luv Ya Blue).

The Titans would largely match the Tennessee state flag while the Columbia Blue returns to the original home of the Oilers. If I have some time and resources, I might have to try a concept exploring this idea.

That said, it still baffles me that the Titans, who are the primary reason why the Texans can only use so much Columbia Blue, would rather wear Navy like so many other teams—including the Texans.

  5. What I feel is the best possible realignment option for a 32-team MLB, probably the better half of 10 years out, preserving the AL/NL setup, assuming the next 2 expansion teams are Nashville and Salt Lake City (in italics).

    AL East

    Baltimore

    Boston

    Cleveland

    Chicago White Sox

    Detroit

    NY Yankees

    Tampa Bay

    Toronto

    AL West

    Houston

    Kansas City

    LA Angels

    Oak/LV

    Minnesota

    Seattle

    Texas

    Utah*

    NL East

    Atlanta

    Cincinnati

    Miami

    Nashville*

    NY Mets

    Philadelphia

    Pittsburgh

    Washington

    NL West

    Arizona

    Colorado

    Chicago Cubs

    LA Dodgers

    Milwaukee

    St. Louis

    San Diego

    San Francisco

I at least find 4 divisions of 8 to work better for leagues that play so many games as opposed to 8 divisions of 4 (which is basically every Big 4 league except the NFL). The goal here was to preserve as many rivalries as possible while minimizing the number of time zones in each division, which gets tougher the further west you go. Part of me wanted to see if I could put the Astros back into the NL West, but ultimately decided against it due to the success they've had as an AL team, though you could effectively swap them with Milwaukee.

*You can easily interchange Nashville with a Carolina team (whether Charlotte or Raleigh) and Utah with Las Vegas, Oakland, or Portland (and that IMO includes the outside chance that the A's themselves wind up in Salt Lake City permanently), but I'm going with what appears to be the likeliest outcome at the time of typing.

One good way to judge a logo (or uniform/overall identity)--at least in my book--is how well you can theoretically extrapolate it back to a given time and design a logo that feels like a faithful update it; in other words, you create a logo that feels like it's been around for much longer than it actually has. This new Lexington Legends logo feels like it's been--in one form or another--around since the 1960s or 1970s, and the work shows in it.

For what it's worth back in the 90s there was some application of the Jets logo on a green oval of some sort here and there, mainly in video games like NFL Quarterback 98

Ah, NFL QB Club ‘98, the game where Marv Albert was the in-game commentator despite his legal issues at the time and any free agent you signed would eventually become M. Clark #84.

Hot take, but  since NFL being more globally each year, they should considering move Super Bowl from Sunday to Saturday and become being more friendly for viewers outside North America.

I agree. Even for those throughout North America, moving the Super Bowl to Saturday could also give people more time to celebrate and/or recover over the remainder of the weekend before going back to regular life. It’s at least something worth looking into.

I don't understand this sentiment at all.

If I'm a baseball fan in a market without its own team and suddenly I learn that one's going to play there, albeit temporarily, I'd be beyond excited. I'd go to as many games as possible because it's a helluva lot easier than taking a flight or planning a road trip to Denver, Phoenix Seattle or San Francisco, which would be the closest MLB cities from SLC.

That's just accounting for the convenience of it all. Now say you're a city, like SLC, that thinks it's big enough and deserves to be a big-league city. In addition to being a baseball fan who is excited to see some games played locally,  you've added a component of civic pride to the equation. It's even more powerful if you think going to those games, and showcasing that civic pride, increases the chances of getting your own team full-time.

If you're SLC, there's absolutely ZERO risk in this and all upside.

With the recent chatter in the news about putting the A’s on hiatus until their Las Vegas stadium is done, and some comments on here about a temporary team to fill in the gap, it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if MLB pushed Fisher to sell the A’s to Big League Utah while granting him an all-new expansion team in Vegas. Obviously SLC would need to figure out funding for the MLB stadium, but they almost seem to have a better plan there than Vegas at the moment.

Salt Lake gets their team and Vegas gets time to figure out their stadium/funding, getting a new team of their own. No one goes on hiatus (unless Fisher wants the A’s brand/records and wants to do some form of Browns/Ravens situation).

The Ravens best combo.  Should be their only  dark option.

Loved it in 1996, love it now.

Loved the Ravens’ black pants even more in 1997 and 1998:

I would’ve loved to see Baltimore wear the black pants with their purple jerseys at least once then, or would put stripes on their pants now.

The A's arent just looking at Sacramento, Las Vegas, Oakland, and San Francisco for temporary sites. Salt Lake City appears to be in play.

    https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/as-considering-triple-a-stadiums-in-sacramento-and-salt-lake-city-for-temporary-2025-27-home-per-report/

Salt Lake  might make more sense than you think. Smith's Ballpark is currently home of the Angels AAA club Salt Lake Bees. The Bees are building a new ballpark scheduled to open in 2025. University of Utah also uses Smiths Ballpark but they are looking into building a new on campus ballpark as well. With the Bees and possibly Utah out of the picture,  the A's would have the ballpark to themselves. Upgrade the park to major league standards, like they did for the Jays in Buffalo and they got a ballpark until they get Las Vegas built. Salt Lake sits about 500 more than Sacramento.  Las Vegas currently sits  nearly 4,500 less than Salt Lake.

It was the big story around town yesterday. Currently, the AAA Bees plan to leave Smith’s Ballpark after the 2024 PCL season for the new stadium in Daybreak (on the southwest corner of the Salt Lake Valley) in 2025, but that still-under-construction ballpark is what the A’s are eyeing. Aside from a smaller capacity, the new ballpark as planned will have the facilities a Major League team needs, with separated bullpens and batting cages for both home and visiting teams. There’s not much of a geographic footprint to expand on at Smith’s Ballpark without tearing down nearby homes, either.

The seating capacity at the new park would be temporarily expanded from its planned 7,500 to about 11,000 for the A’s while the Bees remain at Smith’s Ballpark for the duration of their layover in Salt Lake.

    https://kslsports.com/510099/does-having-two-stadiums-give-salt-lake-city-edge-to-temporarily-land-as/

Of course, I can see a (not very likely) situation where funding for the Vegas stadium is delayed or falls through and Fisher is forced to sell the A’s to the Big League Utah group (while being granted a Las Vegas franchise), who in turn would build their planned Power District stadium west of downtown Salt Lake.

  12. Wild Card Round

    Saturday

    Cleveland at Houston

    Miami at Kansas City

    Sunday

    Green Bay at Dallas

    LA Rams at Detroit

    Monday

    Pittsburgh at Buffalo

    Philadelphia at Tampa Bay

This is true. Wild conditions can sometimes take away both teams' advantages, and then you end up with a 6-3 finish.

And unlike last year, Buffalo can't use Detroit as a backup.

I wonder if conditions at the Meadowlands or Cincinnati would be better enough to host the Bills game if it has to be moved.

  14. Week 18

    Saturday

    Pittsburgh at Baltimore

    Houston at Indianapolis

    Sunday

    Tampa Bay at Carolina

    Atlanta at New Orleans

    Jacksonville at Tennessee

    NY Jets at New England

    Cleveland at Cincinnati

    Minnesota at Detroit

    Philadelphia at NY Giants

    Dallas at Washington

    Seattle at Arizona

    LA Rams at San Francisco

    Chicago at Green Bay

    Kansas City "at" LA Chargers

    Denver at Las Vegas

    Buffalo at  Miami
