  1. These are excellent! Easily better than anything the Cardinals have worn since the early-2000s. Personally I would use white for the player names + wordmarks on the black jersey, as red gets a little lost in the mix... but all things considered that's nitpicking. You did an awesome job with these.
  2. Much appreciated! Honestly I tend to favor traditional design as well, I normally don't like asymmetry on uniforms at all. But it seemed to work well with that particular set.
  3. Just gonna go ahead and echo the previous comment: These are my favorite Texans concepts I've seen. So clean and well-balanced, everything just works so well together.
  4. Awesome job on these (as well as your Texans concept, too.)! You've done a great job at blending tradition with new ideas, and the presentation is top-notch. One thing I'd suggest, would be to also use navy blue helmets for the Seahawks, as I think those would look amazing when paired with the navy pants on your away set. Just curious, did you try making a Wolf Gray jersey version of these as well? I always thought Seattle's all-gray uniforms were so sick.... I wish they would have kept those instead of the neon green ones. Again, great work! Can't wait to see what you do next.
  5. Houston Texans New Uniforms, Part 2 Here's my ideal version of my Texans concepts, without any known limitations (total number of sets, different design requirements, etc.). Basically, I made three different versions of the 'sleeve horn stripe/shoulder star' design, as well as a new all-white uniform combination with everything essentially reversed. I also used the oversized horn design on the red helmets, to show what all the different helmet options might look like. Here. too, I didn't use white helmets or H-Town Blue jerseys, in order to create some contrast from the classic Houston Oilers brand.
  6. Houston will officially be unvealing their new uniforms this April, right around the time of the NFL Draft. To the best of my knowledge, nothing has offically leaked yet... though we do know a few details via Houston's head of marketing/communications. From UniWatch: The team will have four new uniforms. “H-Town Blue” — i.e., the Oilers’ old shade of Columbia blue — will be an accent color, not a main color. The team’s primary logo will not be changing. The new uniforms will be unveiled during the lead-up to the draft in late April Additionally, it's been revealed that the four new uniforms will all be distinct from one another, and not just the same design in different colors. Per that same UniWatch article: “We said, ‘OK, if you want timeless traditional, here’s the one uniform that answers that,’” he said. “If you want to take it one step further and say timeless traditional gets refreshed, we have one for that. If you said, ‘Hey, I’m into this bull thing, let’s get wild,’ we have one for that. And if someone said, ‘Hey, I want you to pay homage to H-Town Blue,’ and if the players are saying, ‘I want something tough, I want something mean,’ we’ve got something for that.” Whew. On one hand, it's good to know that Houston is putting some thought into this. At the same time, I could definitely see this being a complete s**t show. Nike doesn't exactly have a stellar track record over the past few years. Hopefully they were sincere about taking fan input into account, and using the lessons learned from previous rebrands. With all that being said, I designed four new uniforms which work within the framework of everything previously mentioned. Here they are, along with a few notes about each: 1. Red (Home) Uniforms: This was actually the first design I came up with, and probably my favorite one of the set. If it were up to me, it would have been easier to use these as the base for the whole set (which I did, in Part 2 of this thread). This one would qualify as the 'Hey, I’m into this bull thing, let’s get wild' look. In this version, "Battle Red" helmets become the new primary, while a partial horn pattern is incorporated on the sleeves. This is an idea I got from South Florida's football jerseys, which is something I think could look really sharp if done right. Shoulders get single white stars (Texas is the Lone Star State, after all). Number font and chest wordmark are still Houston's proprietary font, just with the colors & sizing tweaked. Moving down to the white pants, the Texas flag imagery is also utilized here in the form of a "master stripe" pattern. This pattern is also used for red and navy blue pant variants, as my hunch here is that Houston's jerseys themselves will be unique, rather than the entire set . This would enable them to better mix & match different color combinations. 2. White (Road) Uniforms: 'Timeless traditional gets refreshed.' This set is basically an homeage to the state of Texas, with a Texas flag sleeve pattern to match the pants. Traditional TV numbers are used on the shoulders, and there's also a touch of H-Town Blue in form of Nike Swoosh accents. Like the home uniforms, player numbers are now primarily navy blue, as using primarily red numbers would make these way too red-heavy when paired with the red helmets & pants. 3. Navy Blue (Color Rush) Uniforms: Definitely the closest thing to what they currently wear, with a handful of changes. The (now alternate) navy blue helmets get a new oversized horn decal, with a lone white star on the helmet rear. Red shoulder stripes get a white outline, while the player names, chest wordmark, and sleeve numbers are now also primarily white to create some contrast. Rear neckline gets a small red tag- a relatively new design feature that's becoming increasing common - and their little-used secondary logo. Inside neckline is also red, with a "We Are Texans" wordmark. Overall, this one qualifies as the ‘I want something tough, I want something mean,’ look. 4. Navy/H-Town Blue (Alternate) Uniforms: Biggest departure from their current look, and the only one in this set to use truly all-new stuff. This one would qualify as both 'timeless traditional' as well as the 'homage to H-Town Blue' look. Jerseys again use navy blue as the base color, with red, white, and H-Town Blue as accent colors. Although I'm sure light blue jerseys would look fantastic, I believe there's a concern about the (extremely petty) Tennessee Titans hitting them with legal action should they attempt to use anything too close to the Houston Oilers identity. The white player numbers are a more tradtional font, while H-Town Blue and Battle Red are used a stripe colors on the sleeves, pants, and socks. Inside of the jersey collars are H-Town Blue with a white 'H-Town Made' wordmark. This H-Town motif also carries over to the helmets, which feature a Gothic "H" logo which is something they've teased on social media before. Helmets also get a single H-Town Blue stripe and white masks to complete this very clean, traditional look. Hope y'all like these! Comments/feedback welcome.
  7. Epilogue: Tampa Bay Rays v3 At this point, the evidence is pretty clear: Tampa's Devil Rays throwback uniforms are easily their most popular and recognizable look. Fans love 'em, and I could definitely see them eventually moving to these full-time. So for this set, I stuck with that design philosophy while also adding some new elements. A few notes: Home white uniforms stay mostly as they are, with the rainbow gradient pattern added in a few new places. This pattern is also introduced as an option for the uniform socks (which looks both ridiculous and incredible in real life) Road uniforms use a slightly darker shade of gray Alternate sun burst logo is used as the sleeve logo on the two blue uniforms Stingray logo on the left sleeve is updated to match the design on the hat, which replaces the old "TB" design as the new primary hat logo Navy blue, indigo, and black alternate jerseys use the rainbow gradient pattern for the player numbers, and also for the piping on the sleeves and neckline Finally, black alternate uniforms use the original Rays TB/stingray logo on the hats and jerseys
  8. Epilogue: Arizona Diamondbacks v4 Very simple concept here: The Dbacks go back to their classic purple and teal color scheme full-time. Design is tweaked slightly vs. the original look, but otherwise these are the late 90's -early 2000's jerseys in all their glory.
  9. Epilogue: Tampa Bay Rays v2 The Rays go back to a forest green & black look (which they utilized from '01 - '07) along with a some more modernized elements. Player names and numbers are changed from their janky proprietary font to a standard block style, hats get the black stingray logo blended in with the 'TB', and metallic blue is used as an accent color once again. Green and black alternates utilize the primary logo on the chest, while the stingray continues to be used as an accent on the left sleeves.
  10. Epilogue: Washington Nationals 2.0, aka Montreal Expos resurrected Pretty straightforward concept, in this iteration I revived the Montreal Expos franchise and introduced my own take on their iconic jerseys. Home pinstripes and road gray uniforms stay mostly as they were, while the other uniforms get some tweaks. New red alternate jersey is paired with a red hat featuring a blue fleur-de-lis logo. The royal blue alternate uniform uses white script with red outlining for the city and player names, while a white home alternate uniform (designed in the same style as Washington's current home jersey) is added as a fifth option. Player numbers are tweaked to be the same style as the current Nationals uniform (rather than a standard block font) and the fleur-de-lis is incorporated as an accent on the socks. Finally, their gorgeous 80's powder blue uniforms are added as a "throwback" option. Realistically this post was just for fun, as I don't see the Nationals leaving DC anytime soon and there's probably better expansion options than Montreal should MLB look to expand in the future. However, it's just fun to think about what could have been. More throwback fun will be on the way with the D-Backs & Rays soon!
  11. Epilogue: Chicago White Sox 2.0 In this version, the White Sox switch back to their 80's-style throwback uniforms full-time. Old school "Black Sox" style uniforms and a new all-black, white-pinstriped uniform in the same style as their City Connect jerseys are added in as secondary looks.
  12. Very good points. I can't find the original post, but a while back I came across a Blue Jays concept where the designer used a lot of those same ideas, and it actually looked really good. I'll probably sketch up something along those lines eventually.
  13. Epilogue: Arizona Diamondbacks v3 In this version, the DBacks uniforms mostly stay as they currently are, with a few tweaks to the road and alternate red jerseys. I also included a version of their "Serpientes" City Connect uniforms, so that their beautiful shade of desert sand isn't killed off completely.
  14. Epilogue: Arizona Diamondbacks 2.0 Fresh off their improbable World Series run, the D-Backs recently announced four new uniforms for 2024. While I definitely get the appeal of adding teal into the look full-time, I think these fell a bit short. Teal works great as a tertiary color on the home and black alternates, but it looks a bit forced on the red jerseys. I think desert sand works better as the tertiary color here. I also hate that they stopped using their purple throwback uniforms last season, as I would have preferred to see them bring back those back over the "Serpientes" City Connect jerseys. On the plus side, props to them for getting rid of the D-Bags D-Backs wordmark and switching to using either a stylized "A" or the full "Diamondbacks" script instead. Both look much cleaner than their predecessors. I also like the switch to a light sand/cream color for the home uniforms, which feels like a definite improvement over using plain white. For my version, I went back to using desert sand as the main trim color, as I think it goes well with the primary red and black colors. Road uniforms also switch to a darker sand color instead of gray, similar to what the Padres used to do. Red and black alternates are mostly unchanged (again, with desert sand substituted in place of teal). White alternate uniform is switched up to include a modernized version of their old-school wordmark, with teal as a tertiary color. These are basically a mix of all three D-Backs uniform eras. And finally, their popular pinstripe throwback jerseys are brought back into the mix. There's definitely an argument to be made to just using these full-time, as the fans absolutely love them. But that's a conversation for another day.
  15. Washington Nationals Today's the day! Last team up (for now at least) is the Washington Nationals. I may still make some additional tweaks and/or variations, but for now I plan on this being the end of the thread. The Nats are pretty solid overall, I love that they made their alternate uniform their full-time home look a couple years back. Easily their best current uniform, IMO. So I stuck with that style throughout this set. Road uniform is tweaked to include navy blue wordmarks and player names, to match the home jersey. Red and navy blue uniforms are mostly unchanged, with the only real difference being that I kept the striping pattern consistent. Socks get a new design based on the DC flag. Home throwback look is a cream version of the Homestead Grays from the Negro Leagues, which I absolutely love. Although Pittsburgh can technically lay claim to this look as well, the Grays actually played the majority of their home games in DC the last few years of their existence. For this reason, I think this would be a cool addition to the Nationals' set, rather than just another Nationals or Senators throwback. Road throwback look is a classic powder blue version of the Montreal Expos, which are honestly just impeccable. *Wipes away manly tears of nostalgia for what could have been* Big thanks to everyone who checked this thread out, and thanks especially to everyone who offered constructive feedback. It definitely made this project more enjoyable for me, while also making the product better. The support is much appreciated!
  16. Royal blue definitely doesn't look bad; IDK, I just feel like it lacks a little something. Maybe I'm crazy. Here's the royal blue version and navy blue version side-by-side:
  17. I always thought the anthracite set was ugly AF, to each their own though. Only part of that era I really liked was the cap logo.
  18. Toronto Blue Jays Second-to-last team is the birds north of the border. The Blue Jays are simply gorgeous, one of my favorite looks in the game. So no real changes to the primary set. Powder blue alternates are tweaked a bit, I used a lighter shade of blue closer to the early 90's shade and added a new tri-color hat to pair with it. The red-and-white home alternate uniform (aka the "Canada" look) is also changed up a bit. I used the "Toronto" wordmark across the chest and used a white front panel on the hats to more closely approximate the Canadian flag. Finally, the throwback jersey is modified version of their underrated late 90's vest jerseys. I always loved that maple leaf cap logo, it was the next best thing to their classic look and vastly superior to subsequent iterations.
  19. Thanks man, and yeah, I do like the 90's version of the Rangers as well. Thanks for the idea. Here's an updated version with that style of lettering:
  20. Texas Rangers Great looking team, that for the most part made some nice updates in 2020. I really don't care for the cursive "Rangers" script on the home uniforms, which feels forced and doesn't work nearly as well as it does on the powder blue uniforms. But otherwise, these are a really solid set. For my version, I switched back to using the "TEXAS" wordmark on all the primary uniforms. I also used the drop shadow effect that is currently used for the player names/numbers throughout. Additionally, I put a small badge logo on the upper left breast as a nod to the team's namesake. Early 90's home and early 80's road throwback uniforms complete the set.
  21. Tampa Bay Rays My favorite team not named the Brewers (and pound for pound, maybe the best run organization in baseball) is a team that's gotten progressively less radical with every rebranding. They went from their bold 90's uniforms with rainbow gradients, to the less radical but still funky early-2000's green & black jerseys, to the current anodyne "Rays" jerseys. Nothing offensive about these, but nothing terribly interesting, either. Although some people hate on their current color scheme, I actually like how the navy blue & sky blue contrast with the white and gold secondary colors. I would just like to see them play up that contrast a little more. For my look, I use the same drop shadow text effect from the primary logo, and apply it to the player numbers and names. I also tweaked the number font to approximate something closer to the wordmark. Road grey uniforms are changed to have a "Tampa Bay" wordmark in place of "Rays" and the navy blue alternates are tweaked to include the stylized sun logo like their excellent teal alternates. Furthermore, I simplified their home white "Devil Rays" throwback uniforms a bit, as I hate the double outline purple numbering that they currently use. Finally, I revived a slightly tweaked version of their old forest green uniforms, which was my favorite Rays look from that era.
  22. St. Louis Cardinals Although the Brewers are my team, I can't deny it: the Cardinals have just about perfect uniforms. Behind the Yankees and possibly the Dodgers, this is the most iconic look in baseball. Simply put, the Cardinals are what a baseball team is supposed to look like. That said, the home and road looks barely change at all. I did incorporate the alternate navy blue hats with the road look, something they used to do exclusively and something I wish they did more often. The 2nd alternate hat (red brim with the full Cardinal logo) is now used with the cream alternate jersey. Powder blue alternate uniform is dropped, and an 80's-style throwback look with tri-colored stripes is introduced in its place. The other throwback is a 1950's-style jersey, with thick stripes on the sleeves and shoulders shoulders and the old school navy blue hat.
  23. Seattle Mariners I'm probably in the minority in saying this, but I'll go ahead and say it anyways: I really like the Mariners jerseys. Their teal alts, especially, are just sublime. Cheesy 90's font and all, I still love 'em. Maybe it's just my own dumb personal bias, growing up following players like Griffey, The Big Unit, Ichiro, etc... but I find it hard to imagine the Mariners completely rebranding at this point. So no major changes on that front. What I did go for in this set, was consistency in design. All 4 uniforms (home, road, navy blue, teal) now use the same number style. Single headspoon stripe is also standardized throughout. Hats use the current "S" logo, only here it's re-colorized to be primarily white instead of gray. Simplified version of the baseball/compass logo is used on the sleeve, rather than the full roundell. Throwback jerseys are in the style of the late 70's/early 80's, with royal blue, gold, and cream as the base colors. The end result is basically a hybrid between their current alternate home jerseys, and their beautiful City Connect jerseys.
  24. San Francisco Giants I really like the Giants uniforms & colors, so I kept their same general design for my set. I did tweak some stuff around, as some of my changes include: Used the proprietary Giants font for the player numbers to give the jerseys a more classic, old-timey feel. I also used this font for the "San Francisco" wordmark on their road jerseys like they used to do back in the 80's Giants roundel logo is used as the sleeve logo for majority of uniforms; black alternate uses the Golden Gate Bridge logo instead Orange alternate uniform is changed to include the classic block "Giants" wordmark, whereas the cursive Giants script is used exclusively as a throwback look. Sleeve + collar stripes are also changed to be the same style as the Home + Road jerseys Black alternate uniform is tweaked to have double stripes on the headspoon + sleeves In addition to the 80's throwback jersey, I created a new look that pays homage to both the New York (baseball) Giants and the fictional New York Knights from masterpiece The Natural. I included the iconic lightning bolt logo on the right sleeves as well
  25. Hey thanks for checking this out! I actually did sketch up a few gold jerseys for the Padres, I just didn't include them in the final product. Trying to keep these posts compact, etc etc. Honestly I hadn't thought to use brown pants, but they actually look great when paired with the gold. Much appreciated for the idea!
