Washington Commanders to debut new NFL identity
kutztown replied to DCarp1231's topic in Sports Logo News
Sometimes I think I want the Eagles to change their uniforms, and then I see things like this and I'm like ".........nope, we're good". It amazes me how organizations continue to miss the mark this badly. -

Not a fan of big huge word-marks on the front of jerseys. I do think a nice touch would be if the pants stripe turns out to be a sideways version of the two lines/three star combo from the DC flag and the roundel. -

If it really does say "The People's Team" I'm going to laugh out loud. One because of the Dallas Cowboys parallel and two because I'm pretty sure there's a book called "The People's Team" that's about the Green Bay Packers -

Can't help but feel like the logo is going to be some kind of W+A vector of some sort. Poor example, but maybe something along these lines from a design standpoiunt: Don't hate the burgundy look, but the white ones are a head scratcher. The black helmet is probably just the throwback leather helmet with poor lighting, especially since they keep referencing their history. IMO, They should have just thrown the WFT "W" on the helmet with their old helmet stripes, kept that new wordmark and called it a day. They could have just gone by the Pigskins. Could still do the song with updated lyrics, could still call themselves the Skins, similar name/syllables to the old moniker, and it connects to both the Hogs, their history and the sport itself. Make no mistake though, I'm 100% expecting little annoying intricacies that will bother us uni-nerds until the end of time. -
Yea, I meant in terms of complete overhauls, but I wasn't factoring in the minor uni changes. And we still don't have an answer on the one helmet rule? Didn't realize how spoiled we were last year with all of the uniform changes.
-
Soooo we're really only getting the Bengals this year? That sucks. Was hoping more teams would make changes.
-
I actually approve of the change. I'd like to have the NFL and NCAA football be as uniform as possible. Same number system (college) Same OT rules (college) 2 feet for a catch (NFL)
-
You're right, they're a few tweaks away. Some minor changes would make them probably one of the best "modernized classic" looks out there. I'm inclined to think that if they make a switch at this point, they'll be going back to the Barry Sanders era classic look since Nike has already had there way with them.

The NFL just released the proposed rule changes that the owners will be voting on. Looks like teams will be voting on expanding the position groups who can wear single digit numbers, but unfortunately there's no mention of the one helmet rule, so my guess is we're living another year without quality throwbacks for most clubs. ***DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE***

I apologize if this has been addressed and I missed it, but do we have any updates on the potential 2021 helmet rule change that people hinted at last year?

Would love to see the Panthers overhaul their uniforms and go black helmets. It just works for that identity. Also waiting patiently for this ever elusive return of kelly green for the Eagles.

NFL series (ATL, CLE, NE, WAS done. AZ update added 04/19/23.)

Nice work! Looks like you're doing all the teams that are actually getting changes this year, but I'd love to see your take on the Eagles -
